CtrlS has announced two separate Bihar developments: an operating data centre in Patna and a much larger hyperscale AI factory proposed for Bodh Gaya. The Patna site was inaugurated on 13 October 2026, while the Bodh Gaya project is still at the letter-of-intent stage and has no published completion date.

What CtrlS announced in Bihar

On 13 October 2026, CtrlS Datacenters inaugurated its Patna data centre and announced a letter of intent with the Bihar government for a planned hyperscale AI factory in Bodh Gaya.

The Bodh Gaya proposal is valued at ₹10,000 crore and is designed for 150 MW. The Patna facility represents an investment of ₹400 crore (₹4,000 million), with 12 MW of current capacity reported by Reuters.

Reuters quoted CtrlS as saying the Bodh Gaya facility “will support the digital infrastructure needs of government institutions, companies and hyperscalers in Bihar and eastern India.” That describes the intended role of the project; it is not evidence that the AI factory is already built or serving customers.

What is planned at Bodh Gaya?

A 150 MW hyperscale AI site

Bodh Gaya is the location for the proposed 150 MW hyperscale AI factory. The ₹10,000-crore figure is an announced project investment, not the cost of the Patna data centre and not a combined Bihar total that has already been spent.

The announcement identifies the intended users broadly as government institutions, companies and hyperscalers in Bihar and eastern India. It does not publish a server count, accelerator type, power-usage effectiveness target, construction phases or the number of facilities that would make up the 150 MW.

No completion date has been disclosed

The available announcement does not set an opening year or commissioning schedule for Bodh Gaya. It also does not publish a customer roster or a jobs total. Until CtrlS or the Bihar government releases those details, the project should be described as planned rather than operational.

What is operating in Patna?

Investment and current capacity

The Patna data centre was inaugurated on 13 October 2026 after a reported investment of ₹400 crore. Reuters described its current capacity as 12 MW, with scope for expansion. “Current capacity” should not be read as the eventual size of the site; the disclosure expressly leaves room for additional build-out.

Edge disclosures use different figures

CtrlS separately described a Patna greenfield Edge project in 2025 at ₹400 crore and a 10 MW IT load. A CtrlS facility page later listed two Patna Edge units: Edge DC 1 at 0.50 MW IT load and Edge DC 2 at 11.6 MW IT load, along with carrier-neutral connectivity. Those listed loads add arithmetically to 12.1 MW.

These disclosures carry different dates, labels and scopes: 10 MW IT load for the 2025 greenfield description, 12 MW current capacity in the Reuters report, and individual IT-load figures on the facility page. They should therefore be reported with their qualifications rather than collapsed into one unqualified specification.

AI- and cloud-ready regional infrastructure

CtrlS describes the Patna infrastructure as AI- and cloud-ready, carrier-neutral and intended to provide low-latency service for the region. Carrier-neutral access means the facility is presented as able to connect customers through multiple network carriers rather than requiring a single connectivity provider. The public descriptions do not state the exact number of carriers, availability tier or a performance guarantee.

Do not confuse this with CtrlS’s Telangana project

CtrlS announced a separate Telangana project in 2025 valued at ₹10,000 crore and sized at 400 MW. That is not the Bodh Gaya project. The matching investment figure is the source of the likely confusion, but the locations and capacities are different:

  • Bodh Gaya, Bihar: ₹10,000 crore and 150 MW, announced in 2026.
  • Telangana: ₹10,000 crore and 400 MW, announced in 2025.

The Telangana announcement should not be used to claim that the Bihar AI factory is 400 MW, and the Bodh Gaya figure should not be added to the Telangana project as though they were one national campus.

Why the distinction matters for Bihar

Patna provides the immediately available site: a 12 MW facility with stated expansion scope and carrier-neutral connectivity. Bodh Gaya represents the longer-term scale-up promised by the new announcement, with a planned capacity more than twelve times the Patna figure. The two locations therefore serve different points in the development timeline rather than describing two names for the same building.

If the Bodh Gaya plan proceeds, its stated purpose would place large AI and cloud infrastructure closer to government and commercial users in Bihar and eastern India. However, the announcement alone does not establish when capacity will be delivered, which customers will use it, how much of the ₹10,000 crore has been committed, or how the 150 MW will be phased.
