What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Short answer: in CSR Racing 2, a car’s tier describes its place in race and progression content, while rarity is a separate label that can mean star rarity or a feature-specific grouping such as Collections rarity. Do not use a Collections label as a substitute for a race tier.
For upgrades, begin with the car and event you are actually trying to run: check the live requirement, fit the available performance upgrades, add compatible fusion parts carefully, and treat Elite Parts, Elite Customs, Elite Tuners, and rarity increases as separate progression decisions. There is no officially established upgrade order or universally best beginner car for every tier.

What “tier” means in CSR Racing 2
CSR Racing 2 uses race and car progression tiers to organize where vehicles compete and which events they can enter. A tier is therefore a progression and race-context label. It answers a question such as “where does this car fit in the current race content?” It does not, by itself, tell you how difficult a car is to obtain, how many stars it has, or which Collections group it belongs to.

The exact requirement is the one shown by the live event, race, or menu you are opening. Events, eligibility rules, and available content can change with game updates, so use the in-game requirement rather than an old tier list as your final check.

Tier and rarity answer different questions
| Term | What it describes | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Race tier | A car’s place in race and progression content | That the car is rare, powerful in every mode, or the best investment |
| Star rarity | A car or eligible Elite vehicle’s rarity progression | Its race tier or guaranteed performance in a particular event |
| Collections rarity | The Uncommon, Rare, or Epic grouping used by Collections | A replacement for the car’s race tier |
| Elite level | Progress through Elite Customs or Elite Tuners systems | A universal ranking of all cars or a guaranteed winning setup |
That distinction prevents a common beginner mistake: seeing a blue or purple label and assuming it is a higher race tier. It is not. Always name the system when discussing rarity—for example, “Collections rarity” or “star rarity”—instead of saying only “rare.”
Collections rarity: Uncommon, Rare, and Epic
Collections is a feature-specific system, not a master chart for every car in the game. The official announcement says, Collections is unlocked at level 60.
Collections groups cars into three rarity categories:
| Collections category | Color | What the category represents |
|---|---|---|
| Uncommon | Green | The lower Collections rarity grouping |
| Rare | Blue | A higher Collections grouping than Uncommon |
| Epic | Purple | The highest Collections grouping named in the announcement |
According to the announcement, each group’s rarity reflects the aspiration, difficulty, and reward profile of the cars in that Collection. That is a description of the Collections feature; it does not establish a one-to-one conversion between Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and race tiers.

You must reach player level 60 before Collections unlocks. Cars bought inside Collections use Car Credits, the currency named by the official feature announcement. Do not assume Car Credits are the currency for every dealership, upgrade, or event elsewhere in CSR2. The announcement establishes their use within Collections, not a universal purchasing rule.
Because Collections availability, car eligibility, rewards, and prices can change, verify the current screen in the game before planning a purchase. The official announcement is available at csr2.com/news/introducing-collections-a-new-way-to-experience-csr2.
Other rarity systems: stars, Elite Customs, and Elite Tuners
CSR2 also has a separate star-rarity progression for eligible Elite Customs or Elite Tuner cars. Zynga’s support documentation treats increasing rarity on eligible cars as its own action. That means a car can have a Collections category and, where eligible, a separate star-rarity or Elite progression state. These labels should not be collapsed into one ranking.

What Elite Parts do
Elite Parts are a currency with four rarity levels. The support documentation says they can be earned through Showdown events and Elite Car Milestones, or obtained through in-game purchases. Adding Elite Parts can provide additional fusion slots.
An additional fusion slot is a capacity benefit: it gives an eligible car another place for a compatible fusion part. It is not the same thing as directly fitting a performance upgrade, and it is not proof that every car should receive Elite Parts immediately.
What Elite progression can unlock
The Elite Tuners feature announcement describes milestone rewards that can include:
- Customization options.
- RP bonuses.
- Star-rarity boosts.
- Extra fusion slots.
These rewards belong to Elite progression. They do not redefine the car’s race tier, and they do not create a universal upgrade order for all vehicles.

There is no official, car-independent “best first upgrade” sequence. The reviewed support material lists upgrade actions and currencies but does not publish comparative testing, expected performance gains, or a universal build order. A sensible beginner method is therefore conditional: spend on the car that meets your immediate race goal, make the basic upgrade action the event requires, and avoid committing scarce Elite resources until you know the car is part of your longer-term plan.

Step 1: identify the immediate race goal
- Open the race, event, or challenge you want to enter.
- Read its live car, tier, eligibility, and performance requirements.
- Choose a car that is eligible for that activity rather than upgrading a vehicle solely because its color or star label looks impressive.
- Check whether the event is temporary. A time-limited event may not justify using scarce resources on a car you will not use afterward.
This step matters because a car that is valuable in one mode may not be the right investment for another. The official sources do not establish a universal winner for each tier.
Step 2: fit the ordinary upgrades the race requires
“Fitting upgrades” is a distinct progression action listed in the Race Pass task guidance. Use the upgrade screen to install the available performance parts on the eligible car, then recheck the race requirement. The exact parts, prices, level caps, and performance changes depend on the car and the live version, so do not rely on a single fixed cost or a generic part list.
For a new player, the practical rule is to upgrade the car you are actively using, not every car in the garage at once. Concentrating resources prevents a thin spread of partially upgraded vehicles and makes it easier to see whether the chosen car actually meets the current requirement.
Step 3: add compatible fusion parts deliberately
Fitting fusion parts is another separate action in the Race Pass task list. Fusion parts are not interchangeable with the ordinary upgrade buttons, and an Elite Part is not automatically the same item as a standard fusion part. Before installing one, confirm that the part is compatible with the car and that the slot is available.
- Use a fusion part only when the car is eligible for it.
- Check how many fusion slots are currently open.
- Do not assume an empty slot means every fusion part will fit.
- Keep track of whether an additional slot came from Elite Parts or Elite progression.
The official material confirms that Elite Parts can add fusion capacity, but it does not establish a universal quantity of parts or a guaranteed time improvement for a particular car.
Step 4: decide whether Elite investment is justified
Elite Parts and Elite progression can be valuable because they may add fusion slots and unlock customization, RP bonuses, or star-rarity boosts. They are also more specialized than a normal upgrade. Before spending them, ask:

- Is the car eligible for Elite Customs or Elite Tuners progression?
- Will you use this car in more than the immediate event?
- Do you need extra fusion capacity now, or is the current bottleneck an ordinary performance upgrade?
- Are you pursuing a milestone whose reward matters to your current goal?
If the answer is uncertain, postpone the Elite decision until you understand the car’s eligibility and your event schedule. This is a resource-management approach, not an officially guaranteed optimal build.

Step 5: treat rarity increases as a separate choice
Increasing rarity on an eligible Elite Customs or Elite Tuner car is listed separately from fitting upgrades, fitting fusion parts, and increasing Elite level. Do not count one action as another. If a Race Pass task asks for a rarity increase, fitting a normal part will not satisfy that task; if it asks for a normal upgrade, raising rarity is not a substitute.
How to read the main progression actions
| Action | System involved | Beginner interpretation | What the official sources do not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fit an upgrade | Normal car upgrade system | Install an available upgrade on the chosen car | A universal part-by-part order or fixed price |
| Fit a fusion part | Fusion system | Install a compatible fusion part in an open slot | A guaranteed performance gain for every car |
| Add Elite Parts | Elite Customs and Elite Tuners progression | Use Elite currency to support progression and potentially add fusion capacity | The correct amount to spend on every vehicle |
| Increase star rarity | Eligible Elite Customs or Elite Tuner cars | Advance the car’s eligible rarity progression | That the car changes race tier or becomes best in all modes |
| Increase Elite level | Elite progression | Advance milestones and associated rewards | A universal ranking across the entire garage |
The Race Pass help page lists these as distinct task types. You can read it at zyngasupport.helpshift.com/hc/en/55-csr-2/faq/19545-race-pass/?contact=1&l=en&sf89618859=1.
A beginner-friendly upgrade decision framework
If you need to enter a race now
- Confirm the event’s current eligibility and tier requirement.
- Select the eligible car you can afford to develop.
- Fit the ordinary upgrades that are available and relevant to the requirement.
- Recheck the car in the event screen.
- Add compatible fusion parts only if the car has open slots and the investment supports your immediate objective.
If the car is an Elite Customs or Elite Tuner vehicle
- Verify that the car is eligible for the Elite action you are considering.
- Compare the immediate need—entry, performance, fusion capacity, or a milestone—with the longer-term benefit.
- Use Elite Parts only after confirming the slot or progression effect you expect.
- Track ordinary upgrades, fusion parts, rarity increases, and Elite levels separately in your plan.
If you are choosing between two cars
Do not decide from color, star count, or Collections category alone. Compare the cars against the actual event you play, their eligibility, the resources you already have, and whether you expect to use them after the event. Current official sources do not provide a complete beginner ranking by tier, so a claim that one vehicle is always the best choice would overstate the evidence.

Mistaking Collections rarity for race tier
Green Uncommon, blue Rare, and purple Epic are Collections labels. They describe the Collections grouping and its aspiration, difficulty, and reward profile. They do not replace the race tier shown by the game.
Assuming every rarity label uses the same scale
Collections rarity, star rarity, and Elite progression are separate concepts. Say which one you mean before comparing cars or planning a milestone.

Spending Elite Parts before checking eligibility
Elite Parts and Elite progression apply to the relevant Elite systems and eligible cars. Confirm eligibility and the expected slot or milestone effect first.
Counting an upgrade as a fusion part
The Race Pass task list treats fitting upgrades and fitting fusion parts as different actions. Use the correct menu and verify the task’s wording after completing it.
Using old prices or event advice as permanent rules
Prices, eligible cars, Race Pass tasks and rewards, event schedules, and feature availability can change. The game’s live interface is the authority for the current offer or requirement.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesExpecting a universal winning build
Performance depends on the car, mode, event, version, and the parts available to you. The official material reviewed does not include comparative tests or a universal build order.
Current version and what may change
The official CSR2 site identified version 6.7.0 in a blog update dated September 8, 2026 and lists the game for iOS and Android: www.csr-racing.com. That date is a currentness marker, not a promise that every support page or every in-game value has the same version context.
Before making a time-sensitive decision, verify:
- The version shown by the live game or official update notes.
- The event’s current car and tier requirements.
- Whether the car is eligible for Elite Customs, Elite Tuners, or a rarity increase.
- The current cost and availability of the required currency or part.
- The active Race Pass task wording and reward.
For Collections specifically, remember that the level-60 unlock and Uncommon/Rare/Epic categories come from the official Collections announcement published September 12, 2024. Later updates may change feature details, so check the in-game Collections screen if a current rule differs.
What the official information does—and does not—tell you
The official sources establish the relationship between the systems: race tiers are not interchangeable with Collections rarity; Elite Parts can add fusion capacity; Elite progression can provide customization, RP bonuses, star-rarity boosts, and extra slots; and Race Pass distinguishes several progression actions.
They do not establish a complete mapping of every race tier to every rarity system, the best beginner car for each tier, a universal part-by-part order, current prices for all upgrades, expected spending, or comparative performance results. Any guide that presents those missing items as permanent facts should be checked against a named car, mode, version, and test method.
