Singapore’s Formula 1 week has become an anchor for a much larger business calendar. Crypto conferences, CEO gatherings, family-office meetings and policy summits cluster around the race because organisers can combine its global visibility and concentrated visitor traffic with Singapore’s established MICE infrastructure.
The strategy is producing measurable results: Singapore recorded S$2.3 billion in MICE tourism receipts in 2025, while business-card activity during race week rose sharply compared with an average week.

Why F1 week attracts so many business events
The Singapore Grand Prix supplies three things conference organisers value: a predictable international date, worldwide media attention and a large audience already willing to travel. Senior executives, investors and founders can attend a summit during the day and use the night race, hospitality programmes and surrounding events for networking and client entertainment.

Changi Airport connectivity, large hotel and convention capacity, a reputation for regulatory reliability and an official destination-marketing agency willing to co-develop events make it easier to assemble an international programme. The combination turns one sporting weekend into a high-density MICE calendar rather than a standalone race.

The numbers show a fast-growing MICE economy
| Measure | Reported result | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| MICE tourism receipts | S$2.3 billion in 2025 | Singapore Tourism Board (STB), 2026; 35% higher than S$1.7 billion in 2024 |
| Total tourism receipts | S$32.8 billion in 2025 | Includes tourism beyond business events |
| ICCA meetings | 156 in 2025 | STB said this was 8% more than in 2024 |
| Singapore Grand Prix attendance | More than 300,000 across three days in 2025 | Figure quoted by STB chief executive Melissa Ow; it covers the race weekend, not one conference |
| Business-card activity | About 80% more business cardholders and approximately 170% higher spending than an average week | Visa analysis of VisaNet data for 29 September–5 October 2025, the race week |
These figures describe different parts of the economy. Visa’s result measures Visa card activity, not every visitor’s spending, while the 300,000-plus race attendance covers three days and includes spectators. They should not be added together or treated as equivalent attendance measures.
What is on the 2026 race-week calendar?
CNA counted more than 40 MICE events around the 2026 Singapore race. The programme spans technology, finance, family wealth and executive leadership, with each category using the F1 backdrop differently.

Crypto and Web3
TOKEN2049 is the largest named crypto gathering in the cluster. Its organiser projected 25,000 attendees, 500 exhibitors and 300 speakers from more than 7,000 companies across 160 countries for the 2026 Singapore event. The format is built around founders, exchanges, investors, developers and policymakers, with a dense schedule of side events that increases opportunities for introductions beyond the exhibition floor.
Finance and policy
The Milken Institute Asia Summit is aimed at senior government officials, finance executives, institutional investors and philanthropists. Its value is less about mass attendance than seniority, policy discussion and access to closed-door conversations. A 2025 STB memorandum of understanding anchors the summit in Singapore from 2026 through 2028, scheduled during F1 race week, giving the city a recurring high-level event rather than a one-off booking.
CEOs and family offices
CNA also identified the Forbes Global CEO Conference and the Global-Asia Family Office Summit in the same period. These meetings serve invitation-led audiences and focus on executive relationships, capital allocation, private investments and deal-making. Their footprint is visible in demand for premium hotels and meeting venues, even when organisers do not publish a single headline attendance figure.
Sport and entertainment
Formula 1 contributes the mass reach and spectacle that business conferences cannot create on their own. Tickets, sponsorship visibility, hospitality suites and visitor spending give companies a prominent setting for relationship-building. The race therefore functions as both an audience generator and a premium evening programme for delegates attending daytime meetings.

Why the model benefits organisers and Singapore
Event planners can schedule around a globally recognised weekend when many international travellers are already in the region. That lowers the friction of recruiting overseas speakers and buyers and makes it possible to coordinate several events without asking every delegate to make a separate trip.
Singapore benefits from the resulting concentration of hotel nights, venue hire, restaurants, transport and professional-services work. Visa’s 2025 analysis provides a concrete indication of the commercial effect: business cardholders were approximately 80% higher than in an average week and spending was approximately 170% higher. The figures are a card-network measurement, but they show why hotels and venues price the period as a peak business window.
Best Value
CNA reported that some hotel rooms cost more than seven times their usual rates around the 2026 race. That is a reported spike for selected rooms and periods, not an average citywide rate, so travellers should check dates and cancellation terms rather than assume every property has the same increase.

STB’s partnership with Informa, announced in 2026, is designed around three strands: business development, experience development and strategic interests. It includes three events scheduled to launch in Singapore in 2026—FundForum Asia, Pharmapack Asia and BioProcess International Asia—and plans to expand existing events including MRO Asia Pacific and Asia Photonics Expo.
That arrangement matters because it creates a repeatable pipeline. Instead of relying only on the next F1 booking, Singapore and a major organiser can develop sectors, improve attendee experiences and build multi-year calendars. The Milken agreement provides a similar continuity mechanism for senior finance and policy audiences through 2028.

“Singapore is a leading global hub for business and trade. We deeply share Singapore’s belief in the power of live events to champion and drive growth and success, not just for the markets they serve, but for the local community and economy too,” said Nick Cole, chief commercial officer at Informa Markets, in the STB announcement.
What the trend means for visitors and companies
- Delegates: expect a crowded calendar, limited premium-room inventory and overlapping invitations. Booking accommodation and meetings early is more important during race week than during a normal conference period.
- Exhibitors and sponsors: the audience is unusually international, but each event has a different buyer profile. A crypto exhibition, an institutional-investor summit and a family-office meeting should not be evaluated by the same lead-generation measure.
- Executives: the concentration can make one trip efficient, but it also creates scheduling conflicts. Allow time between venues and confirm whether sessions are open, invitation-only or closed door.
- Analysts: compare like with like. A projected 25,000-person conference, a three-day race attendance figure and a count of more than 40 surrounding events describe different things.
Will Singapore’s F1 business boom continue?
The evidence points to a durable platform rather than a temporary spike. MICE receipts rose from S$1.7 billion in 2024 to S$2.3 billion in 2025, ICCA meetings increased to 156, and agreements with Milken and Informa extend the event pipeline beyond a single race weekend. F1 remains the attention magnet, but the underlying growth comes from Singapore’s ability to package sport, business infrastructure and specialised conferences into one predictable international calendar.
