Yes—Micron exited the Crucial consumer business. It said Crucial shipments through consumer channels would continue until the end of fiscal Q2 in February 2026. That was a shipment cutoff, not a date when every retailer’s stock disappeared. Micron also said it would continue product support and warranty service, but replacement inventory may not be available for every claim.
What “discontinued” means for Crucial SSDs and RAM
On December 3, 2025, Micron announced that it would exit the Crucial consumer business worldwide, including sales through retailers, online sellers and distributors. The company said it would continue shipping Crucial products through those channels until the end of fiscal Q2, identified as February 2026. Micron’s announcement does not establish a single date when all remaining retail inventory would sell out.

The change applies to Crucial’s consumer-branded products, not to all Micron memory and storage manufacturing. Micron said it would continue selling its products to commercial customers, and later coverage described supply through OEM channels as well. A device may therefore still contain Micron components even though Crucial consumer products are no longer being replenished through the announced retail channels. TechRadar’s account of Micron’s explanation covers that distinction.

Micron attributed the decision to rising AI data-center demand for memory and storage. The company said it wanted to improve supply and support for larger strategic customers in faster-growing segments. That is Micron’s stated rationale, not proof that AI demand was the sole cause of the exit.

Micron also described Crucial’s consumer journey as lasting 29 years. That marks the brand’s history as characterized by the company; it does not mean Micron’s broader memory business is ending. Micron’s announcement includes the company’s explanation and brand-history figure.
Do Crucial SSD and RAM warranties still apply?
Micron said it would continue warranty service and support for Crucial products. Its support page continues to route customers with Crucial questions to product support. The applicable warranty terms describe potential remedies such as repair, replacement, in-store credit or refund, subject to the product’s terms and the customer’s jurisdiction.
Support continuing does not guarantee a like-for-like replacement. Windows Central reported that an owner of an X10 Pro 4TB SSD was told replacement stock was unavailable and offered a refund of the original purchase price. Tom’s Hardware reported an X9 4TB customer who was initially told replacement inventory was exhausted. These are individual reports, not a universal description of how Micron will resolve claims. Windows Central’s account and Tom’s Hardware’s report describe the cases.

What to do if you need warranty service
- Keep your proof of purchase, model and serial number, and all claim correspondence.
- Contact the support channel for your region and ask what remedies are available for your specific product and claim.
- Check the warranty terms that apply to your product and jurisdiction; do not assume a replacement or a particular refund amount is guaranteed.
Should you buy a remaining Crucial SSD or RAM kit?
Remaining stock may appear at some retailers, but availability, price, seller and return terms vary by product and market. The February 2026 shipment cutoff does not prove that a listing is still in stock or that a specific product is a good value. If you are considering a remaining unit, check who is selling it, the return policy, who handles warranty claims and whether the product is compatible with your system.
For a replacement or upgrade, match the hardware to the device before choosing a brand or model. For an SSD, check the supported interface and physical form factor; for memory, check the system’s supported memory type and configuration. A discontinued Crucial product does not have one universally compatible substitute. Current stock and prices also need to be checked with the seller at the time you buy.
