What do the tiers mean in Creatures of Sonaria?
The community wiki describes tiers as distinctions primarily for creature size, which is sometimes proportional to damage and health; tiers also help determine the price of a stored creature. Size can matter in a fight, but it does not settle every matchup. Health, damage, speed, stamina, abilities, and the situation all affect how a creature performs. A smaller creature may suit a player’s needs better than a larger one, so Tier 5 should not be read as “best” by definition.
How many creatures are in each tier?
The available sources do not establish a synchronized, current count for every tier, so this guide does not invent one. A fan ranking reports 481 released creatures based on the game stat-table revision dated September 4, 2026. Separately, the community stats list is marked updated September 28, 2026 and offers sortable Recode and Legacy tables. Those are different snapshots; the 481 figure should not be presented as the roster count on September 28 or on another date. Check the fan ranking and its dated roster basis and consult the community stats list.

To check a particular creature, use the stats table’s tier column and confirm whether you are looking at Recode or Legacy. The stats list supports sorting by columns, including creature name, tier, and diet.
All-creature strength ranking: a dated fan-made snapshot
There is no official all-creature combat ranking established by the sources cited here. One fan ranking uses a weighted score based on bite damage per second (45%), health (35%), and sprint speed (20%), with each stat normalized against the highest value in its dataset. Its placements use the September 4, 2026 stat-table revision. This is one reproducible way to compare selected stats, not an official formula or a universal measure of who wins. These are the fan ranking’s reported results for its stated data revision, not live-game test results or guaranteed current standings. The score reflects the chosen weights: a ranking that values abilities, stamina, survivability in a specific biome, or another factor differently could order creatures differently.
Which creature or tier should a new player choose?
Choose around the task you want to make easier, rather than defaulting to the highest size tier. A general stat score is most relevant when you want a compact comparison of damage, health, and sprint speed; it does not decide what is most practical for every kind of play.

- Solo survival: Think about the conditions you will face, including growth stage and access to food and water.

Lists can use “tier” to mean different things: the game’s size category or an editor’s strength grade. Even when two lists both rank strength, they may use different stats, weights, roles, or data revisions. Recode and Legacy tables are also separate references, and changes over time can affect comparisons.

Before relying on a ranking, check who published it, its data date and ruleset, and whether it explains its scoring or role criteria. A list without a stated method is an opinion guide, not an authoritative answer. The available fan ranking’s 45/35/20 weighting makes its approach visible, but those choices still define what its score rewards.
