Placement
Use fresh, cool water and set the humidifier on a flat, water-safe surface. Crane advises against placing it on carpet or a towel because those surfaces can block the fan vent. Its current FAQ says to keep the unit at least three feet above the ground, while the indexed manual says at least two feet. Because those official instructions conflict, follow the manual for your exact model rather than assuming one height applies to every Droplet variant.
Using vapor pads safely
Crane lists HS-1950 menthol pads and HS-1950L lavender/sweet-orange pads as compatible accessories for the vapor slot. Do not put essential oils or medication in the water tank: Crane warns this may damage or crack the tank. In the words of Crane USA’s Droplet FAQ, “Your humidifier is meant for water and water only. Adding any essential oils or medication may actually cause damage or cracking of your tank – and no one wants that!”
