The CPI(M) will conduct an internal inquiry into an allegation that Thrikannapuram councillor Ajin S demanded ₹10 lakh over a land dispute, state secretary M V Govindan said on October 3, 2026. The allegation is disputed: complainant Sanju says the money was sought to resolve issues concerning his plot, while Ajin denies it and calls the recordings released by Sanju fabricated and AI-generated. No inquiry or police finding is reported in the available coverage.
What prompted the CPI(M) inquiry
Sanju, a Thirumala resident, alleges that Ajin demanded ₹10 lakh in connection with a plot he had bought at MLA Road. According to the reports, Sanju says Ajin raised questions about liability and encroachment and sought money to resolve them. The New Indian Express described the property as 19 cents. These are claims attributed to Sanju, not established findings.

Mayor’s account of the Corporation’s role
Rajesh said the Corporation had examined available facts, that discussions remained to be held, and that strict action would be taken. He also said the Corporation had not filed a complaint and was examining legal aspects. He described limits on Corporation inquiries into individual councillors: land matters, he said, should be investigated by Revenue Department officials, including the Village Officer, Tahsildar and District Collector, while the Corporation would intervene in building-construction matters.
