Possibly, but there is no evidence yet that it will. A July 2026 report says the iPhone Air 2 could use a 3,500 mAh battery, but Apple has not confirmed the phone or its specifications in the sources available. The current iPhone Air slightly outlasted the Galaxy S25 Edge in one web-surfing test; that result cannot predict how an untested Air 2 will perform.
What is actually known about iPhone Air 2 battery life?
MacRumors reported on July 7, 2026, that supply-chain leaker Digital Chat Station predicted a 3,500 mAh battery for the iPhone Air 2. The report also describes a possible thinner display as a way to fit a larger battery while keeping the phone’s dimensions similar. These are rumors and a proposed packaging scenario, not Apple-confirmed specifications or a confirmed design. MacRumors’ report

No published test in the cited sources measures iPhone Air 2 runtime, and none establishes that making a phone thinner by itself improves battery life. The 3,500 mAh figure is a capacity rumor, not a runtime result.
How do the listed battery capacities compare?
| Phone | Listed battery capacity | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone Air 2 | 3,500 mAh | Rumored figure attributed to Digital Chat Station and reported by MacRumors on July 7, 2026; not confirmed by Apple. Source |
| iPhone Air | 3,149 mAh | Rated battery capacity in Apple’s current Irish technical specifications. Apple also lists 40 hours of battery endurance per cycle under its EU product information label; this standardized measure is not the same as everyday mixed-use runtime or a web-surfing test. Apple specifications |
| Galaxy S25 Edge | 3,900 mAh typical; 3,786 mAh rated minimum | Samsung’s US product listing gives typical capacity; Samsung Newsroom gives the rated minimum. These are differently labeled capacity figures, not runtime ratings. Samsung product listing Samsung Newsroom |
The rumored Air 2 capacity would be larger than the current iPhone Air’s listed capacity, but smaller than the S25 Edge’s typical and rated figures. That comparison alone cannot say which phone lasts longer: capacity does not account for display, processor, software, radio use, or workload.

What do current iPhone Air and S25 Edge tests show?
Continuous web surfing
In Tom’s Guide’s continuous web-surfing test at 150 nits, the current iPhone Air lasted 12 hours 2 minutes, while the Galaxy S25 Edge lasted 11 hours 48 minutes—a 14-minute difference in that specific test. With Apple’s MagSafe Battery attached, the iPhone Air reached 17 hours 15 minutes in the same test table. These are one publisher’s measurements of current devices, not guarantees of typical use or tests of an iPhone Air 2. Tom’s Guide comparison
Wi-Fi video rundown
In a separate Wi-Fi video rundown reported by Tom’s Guide, the iPhone Air had 81% charge remaining after five hours, compared with 67% for the S25 Edge. These are remaining-charge readings from that test, not a claim that either phone will play video for a particular total number of hours. Tom’s Guide comparison

What could a thinner display change?
A thinner display could, in theory, free up internal space for a larger battery without changing the phone’s overall dimensions. That is the packaging possibility described in the Air 2 rumor, not a verified engineering detail. Even if Apple uses a larger cell, actual endurance would still depend on the finished phone’s components and how efficiently it uses power.

Apple’s description of the current iPhone Air illustrates why design claims should not be mistaken for a runtime test: its September 9, 2025, launch announcement said the camera plateau design “maximizes space for the battery to deliver remarkable all-day battery life.” That statement is Apple’s promotional description of the current iPhone Air, not evidence about the Air 2 or a direct comparison with Samsung. How to interpret the comparison
- For a confirmed Air 2 battery figure: wait for Apple’s specifications. The 3,500 mAh number remains a reported rumor.
- For a runtime comparison: look for tests of both released phones under the same workload and conditions. The existing web-surfing result compares the current Air and S25 Edge only.
- For capacity figures: keep typical and rated-minimum values distinct, and do not treat mAh as a direct measure of hours away from a charger.
Samsung explicitly notes that S25 Edge battery life varies with network environment, usage patterns, and other factors. That is why a close result in one controlled test cannot guarantee the same ordering for every person or task. Samsung Newsroom

For the current iPhone Air, Tom’s Guide’s web-surfing table measured 17:15 with Apple’s MagSafe Battery attached, compared with 12:02 for the phone alone. That supports the accessory as one way to extend runtime in that particular test, but it says nothing about Air 2 performance. Check Apple’s current price and availability before buying. Tom’s Guide also says the S25 Edge lacks the magnets needed for Qi2 charging and that a case is needed to add that functionality. If considering a magnetic case, confirm that it fits the exact S25 Edge model and supports the charging setup you intend to use. Tom’s Guide comparison
