Corning describes the CCH-04U as an indoor Closet Connector Housing with front and rear access. Its chassis accepts up to 12 CCH panels, cassettes, or modules. The housing supplies the rack structure and positions; the selected components determine the connector layout and fiber type.

Corning lists the housing at 4 rack units, with dimensions of 178 mm high, 483 mm wide, and 433 mm deep. Its product page lists 19-inch and 23-inch rack formats. How the illustrated 288-fiber configuration works
ServeTheHome’s September 24, 2021 walkthrough shows the chassis populated with twelve CCH-UM24-06-93T modules. In that example, each module has 24 shuttered LC connectors at the front and two MTP-12 connectors at the rear. Each MTP-12 carries 12 fibers, which the module breaks out to six LC duplex pairs. Across twelve modules, that arrangement provides 288 fibers’ worth of LC connectivity.

That figure describes the illustrated population, not a guarantee that every CCH-04U ships populated or has 288 installed connectors in any configuration. The walkthrough also shows the same chassis positions used with a 12-position MTP coupler panel—a different configuration with a different front interface. Corning’s 288-fiber capacity specification and the walkthrough’s example refer to a configured system, while the module choice determines what is actually presented for connection. What to verify before choosing modules
Do not select modules on the headline fiber count alone. The compatible component determines the fiber type and connector arrangement, and the specific module shown in the walkthrough is an example rather than a universal recommendation.

- Module or cassette part number: Confirm compatibility with the CCH-04U and verify exactly what is included in the order.
- Fiber mode and plant: Match the selected components to the installed or planned fiber plant.
- Connector layout and polarity: Check connector style, polarity, and keying where applicable against the equipment and cabling plan.
- Population plan: Determine how many positions will be populated now and whether the remaining positions need blank panels or another component.
- Rack fit and access: Confirm the rack format, depth, cable-entry route, and the space needed to reach both front and rear.
Corning’s hardware drawings index describes the CCH-04U as accepting up to 12 CCH panels, cassettes, or modules. Use the current drawings and component documentation, or have the integrator confirm the bill of materials, rather than inferring compatibility from a photograph. At this density, cable management is part of the design, not an afterthought. ServeTheHome’s example shows internal routing paths and explains that the MTP breakout cables are routed through the chassis to avoid overly tight bends. The walkthrough also shows a transparent front cover and a sliding labeling plate.

Before installation, map how incoming cables reach the modules and how technicians will identify, access, and service connections without disturbing neighboring fibers. Verify bend-radius requirements for the actual cables and components with their documentation; the walkthrough does not establish a universal bend-radius value. Corning’s product page describes front and rear access and lists internal and external strain-relief brackets among the package contents, but package details can vary by region or revision.
Choosing between CCH sizes or comparing CCH with EDGE8
Corning’s hardware index also lists 1U, 2U, and 3U CCH housings with fewer module positions than the 4U model. A smaller housing may suit a deployment with fewer positions, but the available sources do not establish a current like-for-like performance comparison or pricing among sizes. Compare the required module count, rack allocation, access, and cable routing using current product documents.

The right choice depends on that specific design, not the 288-fiber headline alone.
