Core Keeper Console Commands for Server Admins: What Works, What Doesn’t, and How to Administer a Server

There is no verified official console-command list for Core Keeper dedicated servers. Current host documentation says the stock server has no chat-command system, no RCON interface, and a disabled developer console. In practice, administrators use the in-game Pause menu to add admins, remove players, and apply bans. Treat slash-command lists posted by community sites as unverified unless you have tested them on the exact server build you run.

This distinction matters because commands such as /kick, /ban, /spawn, and /teleport are often presented as if they were built into the game. Some lists may describe a third-party ChatCommands mod; others conflict with host documentation that was checked against a recent build. The reliable path is to use the Pause-menu controls and configure the dedicated server with its supplied launch-argument and README files.

Does Core Keeper have official console commands?

No publicly documented, publisher-verified command reference has been found for Core Keeper dedicated servers. The available evidence is contradictory: a detailed hosting guide checked against build 1.2.1.5 on September 17, 2026, reports that the stock game has no chat commands, no RCON, and a disabled developer console, while community pages publish slash-command lists. Because Pugstorm has not been cited with an official command table, you should not treat those community lists as vanilla features.

For server administration, “console command” can mean three different things:

  • In-game chat commands: slash-prefixed text such as /kick entered by a player.
  • A server console or RCON: a separate terminal or network interface used to issue commands without joining the game.
  • Launch arguments and configuration: settings passed when the dedicated-server process starts, rather than commands typed while it is running.

The current documentation supports the third category for configuration and the Pause menu for day-to-day moderation. It does not establish a supported first- or third-party command API for a stock server.

What the current sources actually say

Source type Claim How to use it
Supercraft hosting wiki, checked against build 1.2.1.5 on September 17, 2026 No chat commands, no RCON, and a disabled developer console; admin actions are performed from the in-game Pause menu. Strongest available description of vanilla behavior, but still a secondary source rather than Pugstorm documentation.
Nodecraft support article Admins are added in-game from the Pause menu after a server restart. Use this workflow when granting administrator access.
SurvivalConfigs community page Lists /help, /list, /kick, /ban, /save, /spawn, /teleport, and /time, and describes an admin list using a player’s Galaxy ID. Low-confidence, community-only information. Do not assume these commands exist on an unmodified server.
GameSkinny guide Attributes commands such as /give, /kick, and /spawnitem to a third-party ChatCommands mod. Evidence that at least some published command examples are mod-dependent, not vanilla.

These claims cannot all describe the same stock installation. A slash-command page may be referring to a modded server, an older build, or an unverified configuration. Always identify the build and installed mods before relying on a command.

How to add an admin on a dedicated server

The supported workflow described by current hosting documentation is performed while you are connected to the server, not by typing a command in chat.

  1. Stop or restart the server according to your host’s control panel. Nodecraft’s instructions specifically place admin setup after a restart. A restart also ensures the server loads the current save and permission state cleanly.
  2. Join the server with the account that should receive administrator rights. Make sure you are in the intended world; permissions are applied to the player identity used by that server.
  3. Open the in-game Pause menu. Look for the player-management or administration controls exposed by your current build.
  4. Select the player and promote them to admin. The exact label can vary by build or host integration, so follow the label shown in your client rather than a copied command reference.
  5. Have the promoted player reconnect if controls do not appear immediately. A reconnect or another restart can force the permission state to refresh.
  6. Test the smallest required action. Confirm that the new administrator can perform the intended moderation task before granting access to additional players.

If the admin option is absent, confirm that you are the server owner or current administrator, that the player is connected to this exact world, and that the server has completed its restart. Do not edit save files based on unattributed instructions: claims about files such as Admins.json or PlayerBans.json have not been tied to a verified official source.

Can you use /kick or /ban?

There is no verified vanilla command reference that establishes either command. A community list includes /kick and /ban, but the more detailed host guide says the stock game has no chat commands. Therefore, entering either command on an unmodified server may simply send ordinary chat text, produce an unknown-command message, or do nothing.

Use the in-game Pause menu for player removal and bans when the server is running without a command mod. If your server owner intentionally installed a command mod, read that mod’s documentation and record its version; its syntax, permissions, and compatibility are separate from Core Keeper’s vanilla behavior.

Why community command lists conflict

They may describe a modded server

The GameSkinny material explicitly connects /give, /kick, and /spawnitem to a third-party ChatCommands mod. A mod can add commands that look native while changing the server’s permission model and failure messages. Those commands should never be copied into a stock-server guide without the mod requirement beside every example.

They may target another build

Core Keeper servers and clients must remain compatible. A command supported by an earlier build can disappear, change syntax, or stop working after an update. Date every test with the server build, client build, and mod versions.

They may confuse launch arguments with live commands

Dedicated-server packages commonly include documentation files for startup options. A launch argument is supplied when the process starts; it is not something you can necessarily enter in chat or an interactive console. The existence of an argument does not prove that a matching in-game command exists.

How server configuration is actually supplied

For a stock dedicated server, configuration is driven by the files and startup options shipped with the server package. The exact official option list was not available in the published documentation reviewed for this article, so do not rely on a copied list of “15 parameters” or on an assumed ServerConfig.json schema.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Open the ARGUMENTS.txt and README.txt files in the CoreKeeperServer folder created by your installed build. Treat those files as authoritative for that installation. Record the build number beside any setting you use, because host panels sometimes expose only a subset of the available options.

  • Change one startup option at a time and restart the process.
  • Keep a copy of the original launch command or host-panel values.
  • Read the server log after each restart for an invalid argument or ignored setting.
  • Do not assume a setting documented for a mod applies to the unmodified server.

Safe procedure for testing a suspected command

If you need to determine whether a slash command is real on your installation, test it without risking a live community world.

  1. Clone or create a throwaway world. Do not test spawning, teleportation, time changes, or bans on the production save.
  2. Write down the environment. Record the Core Keeper server build, client build, operating system, host panel, and every installed mod.
  3. Check permissions first. Confirm that your account is an administrator through the Pause menu; a permission failure can look like a missing command.
  4. Enter only the documented syntax. Start with a harmless information command if the mod documentation provides one. Do not paste a long command list into chat.
  5. Observe the exact result. Record whether the message is treated as chat, returns an unknown-command error, performs an action, or produces a server-log entry.
  6. Restart and retest. Some permission and configuration changes are loaded only during startup.
  7. Remove the mod and repeat only if you need a vanilla comparison. This isolates whether the behavior comes from Core Keeper or an extension.

Publish or share a command only with the tested build and mod version attached. A bare command copied from a search result is not a reliable server-administration instruction.

Troubleshooting common administration problems

The command appears as normal chat

This is consistent with a server that has no chat-command parser. Use the Pause menu, or verify that the required command mod is installed and loaded on the server rather than only on your client.

The command says it is unknown

Check for a typo, a missing mod, a client/server version mismatch, or a command that belongs to a different build. Do not keep trying destructive variants on the live world.

A promoted admin cannot see administration controls

Have the player reconnect, then restart the server if necessary. Verify that you promoted the correct player identity in the correct world and that the restart completed successfully.

A player remains connected after you try to remove them

Because vanilla command support is not established, do not assume /kick succeeded. Use the Pause-menu moderation control and confirm the player’s connection state after the action.

A launch option has no effect

Confirm that it appears in the installed build’s ARGUMENTS.txt or README.txt, that the host panel passed it to the dedicated-server process, and that you restarted after saving the change. Check the startup log for rejected or misspelled options.

What not to rely on

  • A search snippet that presents a slash-command list without naming the build or mod.
  • Instructions to edit administrator or ban JSON files when no attributable documentation explains the file format and safe shutdown procedure.
  • Claims that a developer console can be enabled with a keyboard shortcut or a mod setting unless the specific mod and version are identified.
  • A command copied from a guide for another game, another host, or another Core Keeper build.

The absence of a verified official command list is itself important operational information. It means a server owner should design moderation procedures around the controls that are documented and visible in the current client, not around a presumed console API.

Practical checklist for server owners

  • Record the dedicated-server build before changing permissions.
  • Use the Pause menu to grant admin rights and moderate players on an unmodified server.
  • Restart after permission changes when the host documentation requires it.
  • Keep launch arguments and configuration notes with the build number they were tested against.
  • Label every mod-dependent command with the mod name and version.
  • Test suspected commands on a disposable world before using them in production.
  • Keep an offline backup of the world before testing spawning, teleportation, time changes, or ban behavior.
