The patch also includes quality-of-life changes and a broad set of gameplay and technical fixes. Hotfix 1.4.1 followed on 2 October 2026 to address two problems introduced by 1.4.0.
What update 1.4.0 adds
The headline addition is the ability to play an infinite number of New Game++ runs. Remedy’s notes do not state a limit on repeat runs or say that every progression rule has changed, so the new feature is best understood as letting players continue replaying rather than as a reset of the mode’s other rules. Remedy’s update 1.4.0 notes also list these player-facing changes:
- A Build Power number on the Loadout screen.
- A HUD notification when purchases or upgrades are available in The Gap.
- Map visibility for pinned upgrade materials available at a Vendor.
- A separate volume slider for radio dialogue.
- A Power Core Charge Duration multiplier in Assist Mode.
- A “Mute copyrighted music” option for Apocalyptica’s “Upperhand” during the intro credits.
- Razer haptics support, plus other polish.
What carries over into New Game Plus
Update 1.4.0’s notes establish the unlimited New Game++ runs, but do not spell out a new carryover system. In an earlier PlayStation Blog explanation, Sergey Mohov, Remedy’s Lead Gameplay Designer, said New Game Plus carries over Aberrant upgrades, health and combat-ability resource improvements, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, talents and artifacts. Traversal abilities do not carry over because they are tied to story progression.
Mohov also said encounters and enemies evolve to challenge returning players, giving players more room to experiment with builds. That earlier explanation is useful context, but it should not be taken as evidence that 1.4.0 changed those carryover rules. As Mohov put it, New Game Plus is “not just about becoming stronger; it’s about becoming more precise in how you play.”

Yes, the Downtown Zone outfit bug is listed as fixed
The “magic doors change my trousers” description refers to an outfit-change bug, not a separate supernatural effect. Remedy’s notes say: “Fixed an issue where Dylan’s outfits would change when fast traveling to Downtown Zone after the credits have rolled.” The fix is specifically tied to fast travel to Downtown Zone after the credits; the notes do not claim that every outfit issue has been fixed.
Other fixes and the Unknown Zone adjustment
The public 1.4.0 list spans audio, visuals, code, game design, level design, lighting, localization, narrative, UI and visual effects. Examples include HDR artifacts and over-saturated highlights, a crash when switching ray-tracing modes, Steam Controller reconnection problems under Steam Input, incorrect or persistent map markers, and quest, encounter and fight-interaction issues. Remedy says its notes are not exhaustive; they highlight fixes it considers meaningful or simply funny.
