How does the stick-to-handheld design work?

The retailer says it is intended for floors, carpets, upholstery and car interiors. Those are intended-use claims, not evidence that pickup is equally effective on each surface.

What does the evidence say about floor performance?
BIG W names floors, carpets, upholstery and car interiors as use areas, but the publicly visible CHOICE page does not reveal its expert rating or detailed test results. It lists specifications and included items, not accessible comparative pickup measurements. That means the visible evidence cannot establish whether this vacuum is suitable for a particular carpet pile, pet hair or a whole-home cleaning routine.

How do you maintain it and address reduced suction?
The Contempo manual’s basic troubleshooting guidance focuses on the dust container, filter and attachments. If suction drops, check these in order:
- Switch off the vacuum and check that the dust container is fitted correctly and is not full.
- Clean the filter as directed in the manual.
- Check the attachments for blockages.
The manual identifies a blocked filter as a likely cause of overheating. If the vacuum cuts out in a way associated with overheating, switch it off, unplug it and leave it standing for one hour before using it again. Do not open or attempt to repair internal electrical components. Refer to the BIG W listing and linked SC861 manual for the product’s instructions.
