What’s actually slowing this PC down?

AI can resolve selected routine customer requests, help agents find answers and respond faster, and review more interactions for quality and compliance. The best results depend on matching automation to the task, preserving context when a person takes over, and judging service outcomes—not just how many contacts the system handles.
What AI and automation can do in a contact center
Intelligent contact center solutions combine several capabilities rather than relying on a chatbot alone. Some tools communicate directly with customers; others support agents or help supervisors review service. A useful starting point is to decide whether each use case should automate a task, assist a person, or do both.

Resolve suitable requests through self-service
Conversational systems can help customers find information or complete routine tasks without waiting for an agent. Microsoft describes generative AI for discovering customer intents and supporting knowledge-based self-service, as well as assisted service. The key design choice is which requests are sufficiently clear and low-risk to resolve end to end, and which should be escalated.
Give human agents relevant guidance
Agent-assist tools can suggest answers, surface knowledge, or recommend follow-up questions and solutions. Microsoft documents these kinds of suggestions for service representatives. They can reduce manual searching and typing, but they are guidance: the agent still needs to check whether a suggestion fits the customer’s situation.

Review interactions for quality and compliance
Automated quality tools can evaluate conversations, flag possible compliance issues, and prompt coaching. That can expand review beyond a small sample of calls, but automated assessments are not infallible. Microsoft warns that AI quality evaluations can miss complex context, sarcasm, or cultural nuance.
Connect channels and route work
AI can help identify the reason for contact, route an interaction, and carry relevant details between channels or from an automated assistant to a person. In an AWS case study, Ryanair describes connecting chat and voice service, routing by inquiry complexity, and a translation approach across six non-English languages. Those are details of that implementation, not a guarantee that every platform or deployment will provide seamless multilingual continuity.

Where automation should stop and human support should begin
Automate a request only when the system can identify the customer’s intent, access reliable information, and complete the task within clear limits. Use agent assistance when the work benefits from faster retrieval or suggested responses but needs human judgment. Escalate when the customer asks for a person, the system is uncertain, the request is sensitive or consequential, or a task falls outside its approved scope.
A handoff is part of the service, not a break in it. The receiving agent should get the customer’s stated need, relevant conversation history, steps already taken, and any unresolved question. Without that context, automation can shift work to the agent while making the customer repeat the story.

That problem is visible in Five9’s survey of 3,000 consumers and 600 CX and contact-center decision-makers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany, conducted in April 2026: 83% of surveyed consumers said they at least sometimes had to repeat themselves after a transfer from AI to a human. This is a reported consumer experience, not evidence that every transfer fails. It does make repeat-information complaints and context completeness important measures of handoff quality. What published results show—and what they do not
Reported outcomes suggest potential, but they come from different surveys and individual deployments. They measure different things and should not be combined into a single expected return or treated as guarantees.

| Source and context | Reported result | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| NiCE announcement of its Agentic AI CX Frontline report, February 12, 2026 | Up to 3× faster deployment cycles; tier-one containment exceeding 80%; double-digit cost-per-contact reductions; and CSAT improvements up to 20%. | These figures are reported by NiCE. The announcement does not provide enough study-method detail to treat them as universal benchmarks. |
| Deloitte Digital’s 2026 Global Contact Center Survey, conducted in late 2025 and early 2026 | 35% of surveyed contact centers already used agentic AI; AI-centric organizations reported 85% greater contact-center profitability than low-AI-maturity peers. | This is a comparison between reported groups, not evidence that AI alone caused the profitability difference. |
| Five9 survey of consumers and CX/contact-center decision-makers in the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany, April 2026 | 80% of surveyed consumers were willing to use AI-powered customer service, while two-thirds still preferred speaking with a human. | Stated willingness and stated preference are not the same as observed behavior; the figures indicate that customers may value both AI options and access to people. |
| AWS case study on Empower, August 4, 2025 | Empower reported a 20-fold increase in quality-assurance call coverage, thousands of transcripts analyzed daily, and review time reduced from days to minutes. | These are results reported for one company’s implementation, not a general forecast. |
| AWS case study on Ryanair | The case study quotes Ryanair’s Director of Customer Services as reporting 120,000 daily chats and a 94% success rate. It also reports an 84% latency improvement and a 25% accuracy uplift in model evaluation against 12,000 real production questions. | These are AWS case-study figures attributed to Ryanair; the case study does not establish independent validation. The latency and model-evaluation results should not be generalized to other systems. |
The Five9 survey also found that 92% of CX leaders said their organization had adopted AI, as stated in the release title. That adoption figure describes organizations surveyed, not the share of customer contacts handled successfully by AI. Five9 survey release
How to evaluate whether an AI deployment is working
Set a baseline before launch and compare results for the same types of contacts, channels, and operating periods. Define each metric in advance; for example, specify whether “containment” means an automated interaction ended without a transfer, or that the customer’s issue was actually resolved without a later repeat contact.
Best Value
- Digital Stereo Sound: Fine-tuned drivers provide enhanced digital audio for calls, meetings, music, and more
- Rotating Noise-Canceling Mic: Minimizes unwanted background noise for clear conversations; the rotating boom arm can be tucked out of the way when not in use
- Handy Inline Controls: Simple inline controls on the headset cable let you adjust the volume or mute calls without disruption
- USB-C Plug-and-Play: Simply plug the USB-C cable into your computer, including MacBook Neo laptops, and you're ready to talk or listen without installing software.
- Padded Comfort: Comfortable USB C headphones with adjustable headband feature swivel-mounted, leatherette ear cushions for hours of comfort
- Resolution: Track whether the customer’s issue was resolved, along with repeat contacts about the same issue. A bot session that ends is not, by itself, proof of resolution.
- Automation and escalation: Measure the share of eligible requests completed within the intended scope, the share escalated, and whether those escalations reached the right team.
- Handoff quality: Check whether agents receive usable context and whether customers need to repeat information. Include failed or abandoned transfers in the review.
- Customer experience: Review satisfaction and complaint patterns alongside the customer’s ability to reach a person. Segment results by channel and intent so an aggregate does not conceal a poor experience for one group.
- Quality and compliance: Sample automated evaluations against human review, track missed or incorrect flags, and monitor whether the system follows approved policies.
- Agent impact: Look at whether agents spend less time searching or correcting AI output and whether suggested information is relevant. Faster handling alone does not show that the work was easier or better.
- Operating cost: Account for the full service workflow, including implementation, integrations, monitoring, human review, and follow-up work—not just the cost of an automated interaction.
Where practical, compare a pilot group with a similar group using the existing workflow, or compare like-for-like periods while documenting changes in contact mix and staffing. This helps separate an AI effect from unrelated shifts in volume, policy, or customer demand. Increase automation only when the target task meets the same quality and service requirements as the assisted or human-led path.
Readiness, integration, and safeguards
Check the information the system relies on
AI performance is constrained by the quality of its underlying knowledge and customer records. Microsoft’s responsible-AI guidance says effectiveness depends on the quality and completeness of CRM data. Before deployment, check whether customer records, approved answers, and escalation rules are accurate, current, and accessible to the systems involved. Deloitte identifies legacy systems, siloed data, and integration issues as barriers contact centers encounter.
Assign owners for boundaries and review
Document what the AI may answer or do, what it must not do, and when it must route a contact to a person. Establish who monitors output, reviews uncertain or high-impact cases, corrects inaccurate knowledge, and responds when a policy or integration changes. Microsoft describes configurable policies, monitoring, and review workflows, while noting limits in complex conversational contexts. AWS likewise recommends defined boundaries, controls, and human oversight for contact-center AI agents. Microsoft’s responsible-AI FAQ for AI agents · AWS guidance on responsible AI guardrails

Fit the architecture to existing workflows
Organizations can choose an end-to-end contact-center suite, combine existing systems with specialist tools, or build a hybrid approach. Compare options against the current CRM, telephony, channels, knowledge base, reporting, and governance needs. The available evidence does not establish a common independent test that ranks these approaches, so a small, representative pilot is more useful than assuming one architecture will fit every operation.
Quick Recap
A practical sequence for deployment
- Select a bounded use case. Start with a recurring customer need whose information and success criteria can be clearly defined. Mark which cases require a person.
- Prepare data and workflow connections. Validate the knowledge and customer data the system will use, and verify that channels, routing, and agent tools can pass the necessary context.
- Set policies and escalation paths. Define permitted actions, uncertainty handling, human review, monitoring responsibilities, and a route for correcting errors.
- Test with representative interactions. Include routine, ambiguous, and complex cases; check answers, transfers, context preservation, and compliance before expanding availability.
- Measure service outcomes against a baseline. Review resolution, repeat contact, customer experience, handoff quality, quality results, agent workflow, and operating cost together.
- Expand selectively. Broaden automation only for intents that meet the agreed service criteria. Keep agent assistance or human handling for cases where uncertainty, sensitivity, or customer preference makes it the better route.
