Humans First brought its “AI Data Center Revolt” tour to San Francisco on October 5, 2026, visiting offices associated with Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Meta and Nvidia. The conservative-led group says it is not opposed to AI or data centers; it wants host communities to have more influence over where infrastructure is built, how it affects electricity costs and how facilities may be used for surveillance.
What happened in San Francisco
According to NBC News reporter Jared Perlo’s report, the Humans First tour concluded in San Francisco on Monday, October 5, with visits to Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, Meta and Nvidia. The group’s bus was parked outside Anthropic’s downtown headquarters as participants promoted their “AI Data Center Revolt” message. Anthropic did not immediately respond to the reporter; the account did not provide substantive responses from the other companies.

The report describes the campaign as an over-8,000-mile cross-country trip and says it made more than 35 community stops over five weeks. Those are figures reported by NBC News; the route and stop count were not independently corroborated in the account available here.
What Humans First is asking for
Humans First’s 13-point Data Center Policy, as summarized in Perlo’s report, emphasizes community control over data center planning, opposition to data centers driving up electricity prices, and rejection of using U.S. data centers for unconstitutional surveillance. The report does not reproduce the full policy, so these are its highlighted themes rather than a complete list of the group’s proposals.

Kylie Jane Kremer, a senior adviser to the group, framed its position as a demand for public involvement rather than a rejection of the technology: “I want Big Tech to actually include the American people and allow them to have a seat at the table.” She also said, “We’re not anti-AI, we’re not anti-tech, we’re not even anti-data center.”
Who is behind the tour
Humans First was founded in 2026 as a left-right coalition and later became a conservative-only effort, according to the report. Amy Kremer is identified as its chair, and her daughter Kylie Jane Kremer as a senior adviser. The small traveling group included the Kremer family, staffers, security guards and their dog, Lovie.

Amy Kremer described the campaign’s concern about public consent this way: “This technology is being shoved down people’s throats,” followed by, “That’s not the American way.” She also told the reporter, “I don’t want a data center in my backyard, and I don’t think President Trump wants a data center in his backyard, either.”

Data centers require large facilities and substantial electricity, making their siting a local planning issue as well as a technology-industry decision. Humans First argues that residents should have a meaningful role in those decisions and that communities should not bear higher power costs without a say in the development. Its surveillance objection concerns how data centers could be used, not simply where they are built.

- EXACT-MATCH UPGRADE — 64GB (4X16GB) kit DDR5-5600 (PC5-44800), 1Rx8 Registered ECC, 1.1V, CL46, 288-pin. The precise rank, voltage, and timing your server's memory controller expects, so it's recognized at full capacity and runs at its rated speed.
- VERIFIED FITMENT — Compatible with Emerald Rapids, Xeon Scalable, PowerEdge, ProLiant, ThinkSystem, Supermicro. Spec-matched to your board's memory-population rules.
- ENTERPRISE STABILITY — Registered (buffered) architecture offloads the memory controller so every slot runs fully populated at full capacity, while ECC catches and corrects single-bit errors on the fly — stopping silent data corruption and unplanned reboots before they reach production.
- CHECK YOUR CONFIG — Server and motherboard memory support varies by model. Consult your system or motherboard manual for supported capacities, approved DIMM population order, and installation steps before purchase.
- LIFETIME SUPPORT — Backed by a lifetime replacement warranty and free US-based technical support.
The report also notes that some rally discussion broadened into existential concerns about AI. It offers no polling or other evidence showing how common those views were among participants or the wider public. Kremer’s statement that AI systems having a soul is “demonic” is her personal characterization, not a finding established by the report.
The Jonesburg investment example—and its limits
As an example of the scale at issue, Amy Kremer cited $25 billion in combined announced Google and Amazon data center investment over coming years in the Jonesburg, Missouri area, which the report describes as having a population of 12,000. These figures are presented in the NBC News account as Kremer’s example and were not independently verified there. They should not be read as a confirmed measure of completed investment or a guaranteed local economic effect.

What the San Francisco visit does—and does not—show
The tour brought an organized message to five prominent technology companies’ San Francisco offices. The report documents advocacy and the group’s policy priorities, but it does not establish that the visit changed a company policy, delayed or canceled a data center project, or affected a planning vote. A visit to a company office is not itself evidence of a policy response.
