Overview

Freshmarketer is marketing automation software for sales and marketing teams coordinating customer acquisition and follow-up across channels. It is strongest for businesses that want audience tools, lead management, and campaign reporting alongside automation. Its breadth is useful, but the free tier has modest contact and sending caps, and trial accounts are suspended if no plan is selected before expiry.

Key features

Campaigns can reach customers through email, SMS, WhatsApp, live chat, social media, and messaging services including Apple Message for Business, Google Business Messages, LINE, Instagram direct messages, and Facebook Messenger. Automation covers email, SMS, WhatsApp, transactional email, chat campaigns, chatbots, and real-time customer journeys. That makes Freshmarketer a better fit for teams coordinating several channels than for businesses that only need a basic email newsletter tool. Chatbot sessions run for at most 24 hours, which may constrain longer-running conversations.

Lead capture forms, lead scoring, and native CRM integrations help connect marketing activity with sales follow-up. Audience segmentation includes Shopify and WooCommerce audiences, anonymous visitors, and Facebook and Instagram audiences. AI features include campaign assistance, scoring, segmentation, chatbots, and insights; these broaden the available toolkit, though the value depends on whether a team will use those functions.

Reporting spans e-commerce dashboards, email and SMS metrics, revenue attribution, A/B testing, heatmaps, and session replay. Freshmarketer also connects through its API, Shopify, Segment, Zapier, WooCommerce, and more than 1,000 Freshworks Marketplace apps. Free dedicated onboarding for migrating contacts, campaigns, and historical data can ease a move from another marketing automation or CRM platform.

Pricing

Freshmarketer uses a freemium model, with a 21-day trial and paid plans starting at $15 per month, billed annually. The Free plan is free, billed annually, and is aimed at teams getting started. It includes 100 marketing contacts and 500 monthly email sends. Those caps make it a limited starting point rather than a comfortable base for a growing audience.

The Enterprise plan is $15.00 USD per month, billed annually, and is aimed at emerging and established businesses. It includes everything in Free plus 500 marketing contacts, an AI-powered campaign assistant, transactional emails, Facebook and Instagram custom audiences, advanced segmentation, and advanced webhooks. The higher contact allowance and added capabilities suit teams ready to scale beyond the free limits, but annual billing is a commitment to consider. Accounts are suspended when a trial ends if no plan is selected.

Optional add-ons include marketing contacts from $100 per 5,000 contacts per month, conversion-rate optimization from $219 per 10,000 MUV per month, a dedicated IP at $199 per account per month, Freddy AI Agent at $49 per 100 sessions, and Messaging Agent at $79 per agent per month. These can expand capacity or add services, but may raise the total cost beyond the base plan.

Platforms

Freshmarketer is available on the web and through an API. Its native CRM connections and marketplace integrations make it relevant to teams already working with connected business tools. Freshworks describes server facilities with 24-hour surveillance and current security patches, and its Trust Center lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, PCI DSS v4.0.0, and other compliance materials.

Who it's for

Freshmarketer is best suited to sales and marketing teams that need to attract, nurture, and convert customers using several channels, audience segmentation, and sales-oriented lead tools. Small teams can use the free plan to begin, provided 100 contacts and 500 monthly emails are enough. Businesses with larger audiences should weigh the annual paid commitment and add-on costs; teams needing only simple email sending may find its wider feature set unnecessary.

Pros and cons

Pro: Broad channel automation, from email and SMS to messaging apps, supports coordinated outreach beyond a single channel.
Pro: Lead capture, scoring, and native CRM integrations help connect campaigns with sales follow-up.
Pro: Reporting combines campaign metrics, revenue attribution, experimentation, heatmaps, and session replay.
Con: The Free plan's 100 contacts and 500 monthly email sends limit its usefulness as an audience grows.
Con: The listed paid plan is billed annually, and trial accounts are suspended if users do not choose a plan after expiry.
Con: Chatbot sessions have a 24-hour maximum, which is a constraint for conversations intended to remain open longer.

Alternatives

Consider Klaviyo if its free allowance of 250 active profiles, 500 monthly email sends, and $5 of monthly mobile messages better fits a small audience. Mailchimp offers a free plan with 250 contacts, 500 emails per month, one audience, and one seat, and also supports iOS and Android. Mautic is another freemium option, with web, API, and self-hosted platforms and a 14-day trial that requires no credit card. Manago AI (formerly SALESmanago) is a paid option with a free trial. SendPulse offers a free plan with 500 subscribers, 15,000 emails per month, and five automated flows. Omnisend has a free plan with 250 contacts, 500 emails per month, and 500 web push notifications. Verdict

Freshmarketer is a strong choice for sales and marketing teams that need multichannel automation, audience segmentation, lead tools, and campaign analytics in one system. Its free tier offers a low-commitment entry point, while the paid plan adds contacts and advanced capabilities. Look elsewhere if the free caps are too small, annual billing is unsuitable, or your needs stop at straightforward email campaigns.
