Overview

FocusOSHR is a web-based platform for employee-relations casework and workplace investigations. It is best suited to solo HR practitioners and teams that want structured case tracking alongside policy-oriented writing tools. Its strongest case-management features are paired with a free tier capped at 10 cases total, so ongoing work will likely call for a paid plan.

Key features

Case management follows matters from intake to resolution, with activity logs, SLA monitoring, and duplicate detection. Together, these tools help keep timelines and overlapping reports visible; they are more useful to teams managing a continuing caseload than to occasional users who need only a document library. The Investigations Hub provides six stages for tracking investigations, with notes, findings, priority levels, and links to HR cases. That connection makes it easier to keep investigative work attached to the underlying employee-relations record.

The AI HR Assistant can draft responses, review emails, and offer corrective-action guidance based on HR policy. It may reduce routine writing, but it should support rather than replace HR judgment. The AI Writing Assistant is included in Professional and Enterprise, not the lower tiers. The Templates Library has 16+ pre-built HR documents, including warnings, termination documents, FMLA letters, and offer letters. Free provides five templates; Starter and higher plans include all of them.

Role-based admin and reviewer access, protected routes, and row-level security provide controls for limiting access to records. FocusOSHR states that data is encrypted with AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit, and that its infrastructure and processes align with SOC 2 Type II Trust Service Criteria. It describes GDPR compliance and clarifies that it is not a HIPAA covered entity, a relevant boundary for organizations handling regulated health information. Google, Apple, and Microsoft SSO, SAML 2.0, SCIM 2.0 provisioning, and payroll and benefits integrations are Enterprise features.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free (billed forever). It includes up to 10 cases total, basic case management, five templates, the first five Learning Center lessons, community access, and a self-service knowledge base. That is a low-commitment way for a solo practitioner to explore the workflow, but the lifetime case cap makes it unsuitable as a long-term home for recurring employee-relations work.

Starter costs 29.00 USD per month and allows up to 50 cases/month. It adds all document templates, the full Learning Center, email support, basic reporting, and exports. It suits a small or growing team with a bounded caseload; the monthly quota and absence of the AI Writing Assistant are the trade-offs.

Professional costs 79.00 USD per month and includes unlimited cases, the AI Writing Assistant, Executive Analytics, weekly group coaching, priority email and chat support, e-signatures, and compliance. It is the more natural fit for teams that have outgrown case quotas or need the writing and support tools. Enterprise costs 249.00 USD per month and adds SSO/SAML and SCIM, a dedicated success manager, advanced audit and compliance, multi-org/consultant mode, and custom onboarding and training. Those additions target larger teams or consultants managing multiple organizations; teams without those needs can avoid the higher price by choosing Professional. The pricing note also offers a 14-day trial.

Platforms

FocusOSHR runs on the web. Enterprise adds identity and provisioning options including SSO/SAML and SCIM, while payroll and benefits integrations are also reserved for that tier.

Who it's for

FocusOSHR makes the most sense for solo practitioners, growing HR teams, and departments that want case tracking and investigation workflows in one place. Free can suit a very small or exploratory workload, Starter a team with up to 50 cases/month, and Professional teams with heavier caseloads. Enterprise is the better fit when multi-organization work or centralized identity provisioning matters. Organizations that require a HIPAA covered entity should look elsewhere.

Pros and cons

Pro: Case lifecycle tracking, SLA monitoring, duplicate detection, and a six-stage investigations workflow keep related work structured and connected.
Pro: The templates, policy-oriented AI writing, and Learning Center bring practical HR support into the same platform, with broader access on paid plans.
Pro: Role-based controls, encryption, and row-level security address important safeguards for sensitive employee records.
Con: Free stops at 10 cases total, while Starter is limited to 50 cases/month; active teams may need to move to Professional for unlimited cases.
Con: AI writing, advanced analytics, e-signatures, and priority chat support are not part of the lower tiers.
Con: FocusOSHR says it is not a HIPAA covered entity, which rules it out for buyers who need that status.

Alternatives

For a wider shortlist, see Workplace Investigation Software. Consider Pulpstream Employee Relations if Android, iOS, Windows, or API access matters; its pricing is a flat fee per employee or per user, with a custom quote. Sodales Employee Relations may fit buyers who prefer annual, employee-count-based pricing with a one-time setup fee. BoardEffect is a paid option for buyers seeking nonprofit board-management software. Civica Complaints Management is another paid option, with pricing by enquiry. Safecall Investigation Case Management is worth considering for an investigation-focused SaaS web solution, with pricing on request. SentinelOps is a paid alternative with web and API platforms. empower may suit HR-led case management with case reports, audit trails, policy-aligned workflows, and dashboards; it asks buyers to contact AdviserPlus for a tailored demonstration and pricing. InfraNet HR uses custom pricing based on company size, with no fixed minimum and invite-only access.

Verdict

Choose FocusOSHR if your HR work needs linked case and investigation tracking, and you want policy-oriented writing and document templates alongside it. The case workflows are its clearest advantage, but the free tier's 10-case lifetime cap and Starter's monthly quota make Professional the sensible choice for teams with sustained or growing workloads. Look elsewhere if you need a HIPAA covered entity or a platform outside the web.
