Overview

Field Agent is a platform for retail assignments and shopper research, aimed at adults seeking paid tasks and organizations gathering information from stores or online. Its range of job formats is useful, but shoppers should weigh conditional payment against that flexibility.

Key features

Shoppers can take on audits, surveys, Buy & Trys, ratings and reviews, Eye Spys, scavenger hunts, and mystery shops. The workflow is to reserve a job, complete it, submit it for review, and receive cash if approved. That variety gives agents several kinds of assignments to consider; the review gate is a meaningful downside, since denied submissions are unpaid.

Jobs are available at major retailers including Walgreens, 7-Eleven, Dollar General, Albertsons, McDonald's, Best Buy, Kroger, Target, Kohl's, Publix, Costco, and CVS. Field Agent also supports a shopper portal, assignment scheduling, multiple forms of evidence collection, payments, and results analytics. It operates in the United States, Australia, Canada, Ecuador, Mexico, South Africa, Spain, and Great Britain, though country coverage alone does not mean a suitable job will be nearby.

For project teams, the API supports job creation, template management, project launches, results retrieval, and optional webhooks. This makes it relevant beyond individual shoppers, particularly for organizations managing assignments and collecting results. Field Agent may use Plaid to connect and verify bank information, and Dwolla to originate credit transfers to an agent's financial-institution account. It says transmitted information is encrypted with Secure Socket Layer software and that it does not sell users' personal information.

Pricing

The Field Agent App is free: free on Android or iOS. The app is for users aged 18 or older. This is a low-cost way for eligible shoppers to access assignments, but free access is not guaranteed income: payment follows approval, and denied work is unpaid. Pricing for organizations is custom pricing.

Platforms

Field Agent supports Android, iOS, web, and API access. Shoppers can use the mobile app, while organizations can use the API capabilities to create and manage projects and retrieve results.

Who it's for

Field Agent suits adults who want to pursue varied shopping assignments and accept that payment depends on review approval. Its retailer coverage and range of job types make it a practical option to consider across the supported countries. It is less suitable for anyone under 18 or anyone who needs guaranteed payment for every completed submission. Brands and retailers that need job creation, project management, and results retrieval through an API may also find it a fit.

Pros and cons

Pros: A broad mix of assignment types gives shoppers alternatives to standard audits or surveys.
Pros: API support for templates, project launches, results, and optional webhooks serves organizational workflows as well as individual shoppers.
Pros: The app is free, so there is no app price to pay before pursuing work.
Cons: Payment is conditional on approval; denied submissions earn nothing.
Cons: Registration and use are limited to people aged 18 or older.

Alternatives

For a wider category comparison, browse Mystery Shopping Software.

Gigwalk is another free-to-download option for shoppers: individual Gigs pay $3 to $100 or more depending on the task, making it worth comparing if that stated pay range better suits the work you want. Consider Mystery Management or PRISM Mystery Shopping Platform as paid alternatives. Shopmetrics NEXT is another paid option with a demo request. If you want to compare free-plan choices, consider iSecretShop, Mitti Training, or MobiAudit. Checker is a paid alternative with monthly plans starting at 50.00 EUR per month.

Verdict

Choose Field Agent if you are an adult shopper seeking varied retail assignments, or an organization that needs API tools for project workflows. The breadth of tasks and supported retailer coverage are its strongest draws; look elsewhere if you need guaranteed payment for submissions, since approval determines whether an agent is paid.
