Overview

AssetCenter is a cloud service for tracking durable items individually, from purchase and assignment through maintenance and retirement. It suits small and midsize teams that need item-level accountability alongside software subscription records. Its lifecycle history and reporting make it useful beyond a basic register, but it is not built for stock control or fulfillment.

Key features

Each asset record can hold category fields, serial numbers, status, photos and documents, with barcode or QR access. A unified timeline connects purchases, assignments, moves, condition checks, maintenance, repairs, warranties, costs, tasks and decommissioning. That history is valuable when teams need to trace an item's custody and condition over time, rather than see only its current location.

Software licenses and recurring services have their own records for vendor, plan, seats, billing frequency, contract terms, renewal date and cost. Reports cover straight-line depreciation, asset end of life and events, recurring subscription costs, plus location and assignment-history maps. These tools bring operational tracking and cost visibility together; the single depreciation method and lack of tax depreciation make it a weaker fit for tax-specific accounting.

The AI Asset Assistant answers natural-language questions from records a user is permitted to see and can research manufacturer specifications with sources. It is limited to 500 chats per month on Growth and 1,500 on Professional. Microsoft Entra ID directory sync and Apple Business device import, including order and AppleCare information, can reduce manual setup for organizations using those services.

Roles, permissions and category-level access restrictions help separate what users can see, while two-factor authentication and Google or Microsoft sign-in provide account controls. The service runs in the cloud; phone and tablet access is supported through PWA installation, with iPhone setup directions in its manual. API access is included on every plan, including Free, but remains subject to plan and rate limits.

Its scope is deliberately item-level: AssetCenter does not manage stock quantities, reorder points, picking, fulfillment or consumable inventory bins. Teams running a warehouse or tracking consumables will need a separate system.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free with no time limit. It caps use at 25 available or deployed assets and has no reports, making it suitable for a small pilot or a very small register, but not a full evaluation of the reporting features.

Starter costs 39.00 USD per month and allows 250 assets and 5 seats, with unlimited subscriptions, people and locations, 500 GB storage and Basic support. It is the entry point for a small team that needs a working asset register; the seat and asset ceilings are the key constraints.

Growth costs 129.00 USD per month for up to 1,500 assets and 15 seats. It adds 500 AI chats per month, 2 TB storage and Priority support, making it the step up for teams that need the assistant or have outgrown Starter's capacity.

Professional costs 299.00 USD per month and raises capacity to 5,000 assets, with unlimited seats, 1,500 AI chats per month, 5 TB storage, Priority support and onboarding assistance. It fits larger deployments that benefit from the extra capacity and guided onboarding. A 14-day trial is offered; the free plan has no time limit.

Platforms

AssetCenter supports Android, iOS, web and API access. Mobile use is through PWA installation on a phone or tablet home screen, rather than a separately stated native app. Deployment is cloud-based.

Who it's for

AssetCenter is a strong match for small and midsize teams that need to track individual durable assets, their custodians and lifecycle events, while also keeping tabs on software subscriptions. Multi-entity support may suit organizations managing records across entities. It is the wrong tool for teams whose central need is inventory quantities, replenishment or order fulfillment.

Pros and cons

Pro: Asset-level timelines combine assignment, condition, maintenance and retirement events, giving teams a fuller custody history than a current-location list.
Pro: Subscription records and recurring-cost reports bring software renewals and asset tracking into the same service.
Pro: API access is included even on Free, and access controls include roles, category restrictions and two-factor authentication.
Con: Free is capped at 25 assets and excludes reports, limiting its value for teams that need to assess reporting before paying.
Con: Starter's 5-seat and 250-asset limits can make it a short-lived fit as a team grows; higher capacity starts at $129.00 USD per month.
Con: It has no tax depreciation and does not handle stock quantities or fulfillment, so accounting and warehouse workflows may need other software.

Alternatives

For a wider shortlist, compare Fixed Asset Management Software and Asset Tracking Software.

Choose AssetFrog if its 50-asset, one-user free plan is a better fit or if you need its broader listed platform range, including macOS and Windows; its listed AF100 plan is 16.00 AUD per month, billed annually, for up to 100 assets and unlimited users.

Fixed Asset Register is another option to compare for a free plan and support for Android, web and Windows.

Consider xAssets ITAM if self-hosted deployment or Windows support matters; its Express Edition is free for one user with no time limit and includes cloud hosting and 100 endpoints per user.

AssetAccountant may suit a smaller register: its free plan covers up to 10 assets and includes features and integrations except leases.

AssetComply offers a free plan for up to 100 assets, which may be preferable when that higher free cap matters more than AssetCenter's subscription and lifecycle tools.

Minty Assets is worth considering for its free 50-asset plan, which includes eight reports and CSV import and export.

MeltX FAM is a paid alternative for Android and web.

Tax Technologies Fixed Asset Manager uses custom pricing and may be worth comparing if you prefer to contact the maker about a web-based product.

Verdict

Choose AssetCenter if your team needs item-level accountability, lifecycle history and subscription cost tracking in one cloud service. Its best reason to buy is the combination of detailed asset timelines and reports; look elsewhere if you need inventory fulfillment or tax depreciation, or if a 25-asset, report-free Free plan is too restrictive.
