Is ComfyUI with MiniMax H3 better than Kling AI or Seedance on the free tier? There is not enough evidence to call H3 the quality winner, and Comfy’s advertised five free runs are not five free H3 videos. Comfy describes those as Comfy Cloud workflow runs, while H3 generation uses credits. The offers that can be compared are limited to each service’s stated access, features, and costs—not matched output quality.
Can you use MiniMax H3 in ComfyUI for free?
Comfy’s H3 page, updated in August 2026 and accessed October 7, advertises “5 free runs on real GPUs — no credit card required.” It also says H3 generation uses pay-as-you-go or subscription credits. The five-run offer is therefore a Comfy Cloud allowance, not a promise of five H3 generations.

Comfy’s suggested way to stretch the allowance is to draft a shot with Wan 2.2, then spend credits on the final H3 render. Comfy says its Cloud workflow runs H3 without a local GPU. Check the current account and model terms before starting, since access and credit treatment can change.

How do the free offers compare?
The figures below describe different services and allowances, not equivalent trials. Seedance.tv is a third-party service; its terms do not establish the terms for ByteDance’s official Seedance API or every service offering the model.
#1 Best Overall
| Option | Published free access | What the figure does—and does not—mean |
|---|---|---|
| Comfy Cloud with H3 | Comfy advertises five free runs on real GPUs, with no credit card required (page updated August 2026; accessed October 7, 2026). | Comfy describes H3 generation as credit-based. The five runs are not a stated number of free H3 clips. |
| Seedance.tv | Its pricing page, with rates labeled September 2026, gives new accounts four credits. The page says that covers one five-second, 480p Seedance 2 Mini clip, or four images with Nano Banana 2 Lite. | The same page lists MiniMax H3 at 10 credits for a 768p, five-second clip. That is the rate on Seedance.tv, not a universal MiniMax price; four starter credits do not cover that listed H3 clip. The page says free Seedance and Veo videos carry a watermark. |
| Kling AI | The official app-store listing describes the app as free with in-app purchases and advertises video-generation features. | The listing does not state a current free-credit amount, and the available official web pricing information did not establish one. A numeric comparison would be unsupported. |
These allowances differ in provider, model, resolution, duration, and watermark terms. A credit or “run” is not a common unit across services, so the figures cannot be ranked as though they bought the same output.
What does MiniMax H3 offer beyond a basic text-to-video prompt?
MiniMax’s August 3, 2026 announcement describes H3 as a multimodal system that can understand text, image, video, and audio context and generate video with native stereo audio. Its announcement specifies 4–15-second outputs at 24 frames per second, with 32 kHz stereo audio. Comfy’s August 2026 H3 page instead describes 5–15-second generation and support up to 2K. Those are claims from different pages; treat their duration ranges as separately attributed rather than combining them into one specification.
Rank #2
- Video generator using prompt
MiniMax says the shorter side defaults to 768 pixels and that 2K output uses H3-Regenerate-2K. Comfy’s page says H3 supports up to 2K, but that does not mean every workflow or generation automatically produces 2K.

MiniMax documents first-frame/last-frame generation and an omni-reference mode for conditioning a result on existing media. The documented input limits are:
Rank #3
- Ai Tools
- Text to Voice
- Text to Image
- Text to Video
- Text to App
- Up to nine images.
- Up to three video clips, each 2–15 seconds long, with no more than 15 seconds of video in total.
- Up to three audio clips. Audio references must be supplied alongside image or video input.
- No more than 12 mixed input files in total.
These capabilities may matter when a clip needs to follow references or connect to supplied audio. They are feature specifications, not evidence that H3 produces better-looking results than another model.
Does “open weights” mean H3 is fully local and free?
No. MiniMax’s announcement described an open-source release, but also drew boundaries around the full workflow. It said H3-Context-IR, a preprocessing and orchestration system, was hosted and not part of that release. At the time of the announcement, H3-Regenerate-2K was also not open-sourced; MiniMax described its full 2K workflow as combining locally deployed H3-Base with official APIs.
Rank #4
- No Cost & No Subscriptions
- Unlimited Generation of Images
- Incredibly Realistic Images
Comfy offers H3 through open weights and Partner Nodes, and Comfy Cloud avoids the need for a local GPU. Neither fact means every official feature runs locally, that local generation is unlimited, or that it is free. For a local deployment example, MiniMax documents SGLang with four GPUs; that is an example configuration, not a minimum requirement for ComfyUI or a recommendation for a particular computer.

Is H3 better than Kling or Seedance?
The available information supports a comparison of stated features and access terms, not a quality verdict. There is no controlled, matched-prompt benchmark here for H3, Kling, and Seedance, and no independent evaluator’s ranking. A claim that one is “better” overall would depend on the task and would need comparable outputs.
Best Value
- Turn text into stunning AI-generated images instantly
- Supports styles like Anime, Cyberpunk, Ghibli, and more
- Choose from 1:1, 16:9, or 9:16 ratios
- Save, share, or delete creations with one tap
- Full-screen viewer for detailed image exploration
For a useful personal comparison, hold the inputs and settings constant: use the same prompt, reference image or audio, target duration, and resolution where the services allow it. Then judge the results against a consistent rubric, such as prompt adherence, motion continuity, image detail, audio fit, and visible artifacts. Record each service’s actual credit use and watermark status too; a lower-cost or longer free trial is not itself proof of higher quality.
Which option should you try first?
- Try Comfy Cloud with H3 if you want to explore H3 without setting up local hardware and are comfortable checking how credits apply before rendering. Use the free Comfy runs for drafts where available, then decide whether a credit-funded H3 render is worthwhile.
- Try Seedance.tv’s free offer if a five-second, 480p Seedance 2 Mini clip fits your test. Its September 2026 pricing page says four new-account credits cover that example and says free Seedance videos are watermarked.
- Check Kling’s current account terms directly if you want to try Kling. The cited official app-store listing confirms a free app with in-app purchases, but not a current free-credit quantity.
- Consider local deployment only for a reason such as wanting local control and being prepared to handle the required setup and hardware. The documented four-GPU SGLang example is not a baseline specification for every H3 workflow.
Commercial-use rights are not established by the free-access figures above. Check the applicable service and model license before using generated material commercially.
