Colorlib Search Form V12 is a free, reusable hotel-search interface—not a booking engine or a searchable hotel database. The September 2026 update describes it as standalone HTML, CSS, and a small amount of vanilla JavaScript, so it does not require Bootstrap files, jQuery, or plugins. You still need to connect the form to your own search results route or backend before it can return results.
What V12 includes
Colorlib describes V12 as a mobile-friendly hotel search bar with tabs, date pickers, a dropdown, and a transparent search box. The date fields use the browser’s native date picker, and the dropdowns are standard select menus whose selected values are submitted with the form. Colorlib reports that the updated download is 1.6 MB, down from 24.5 MB before the September 2026 update. These are figures reported by Colorlib, not independent measurements.

The official template page identifies Colorlib as the author, gives March 17, 2021 as the original page date, and lists a September 2026 release/update. See the Colorlib Search Form V12 page.
Does it require Bootstrap?
Despite “Bootstrap” in the title, the September 2026 version is described as plain HTML and CSS with a few lines of vanilla JavaScript. Colorlib says it can run on its own or be placed in a Bootstrap 4, 5, or 6 project; Bootstrap files are not required. The page also says the snippet needs no jQuery or plugins. That makes it a possible fit for a Bootstrap site without adding those dependencies solely for the form.

What it does not do
Colorlib’s guide puts the limitation plainly: “The templates are front end only.” V12 provides the form’s interface and submits entered values, but it does not provide hotel listings, check availability, calculate prices, or reserve a room. Those functions depend on the website’s own search route, backend, and—if bookings are needed—booking system.
Before choosing it, identify the route that should receive a guest’s search and the parameter names that route expects. The appearance of working fields is not evidence that a search or booking service is connected.
Connect the form to a search route
To answer the practical question “How do I connect a search bar to my site’s search?”, set the form’s action to the results URL and give each field a name that matches the parameter expected by the server. Colorlib’s guide gives a WordPress example using action="/", method="get", and name="s" for the search input. That example is specific to a WordPress search setup; a hotel site must use the parameter names and route its own search implementation expects.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Choose the results URL or endpoint that will process the submitted search.
- Set the form’s
actionto that URL and select the method the endpoint supports. - Check each field’s
nameagainst the backend’s expected parameters—for example, destination, arrival date, departure date, and guest count if those are part of your search. - Submit a test search and confirm the results route receives the values and responds as intended. V12 itself does not supply that results behavior.
For implementation guidance, see Colorlib’s search-bar guide.

Labels and mobile details to check
Colorlib recommends using a search form with role="search", a search input such as type="search", and a visible or visually hidden label for every field. Placeholder text alone is not a label: Colorlib’s guide notes that it disappears once someone types. The guide also recommends making overlays easy to exit and using input text of at least 16px on mobile to avoid iPhone zoom.
These are implementation recommendations, not evidence that this particular V12 download has passed independent accessibility or browser testing. Review the actual markup and test it in the context where you deploy it.
License and attribution
Colorlib lists V12 under the CC BY 3.0 license. Its guide says commercial use is permitted and instructs users to retain the credit link. Review the template page and guide for Colorlib’s stated license and attribution terms, and preserve the credit link when using the template commercially.
