Coinbase scheduled its Coinbase Champions perpetual futures trading competition in Singapore for October 8, 2026, promoting 10 traders and $150,000 “on the line.” But the available event and news reports do not confirm that the competition finished, identify a winner, or establish how the prize was paid. The event was announced—not verified as having crowned a champion.
What was Coinbase Champions?
Coinbase promoted Coinbase Champions as a live, esports-style perpetual futures trading tournament in Singapore. Its homepage described “10 of crypto’s best traders” and “$150,000 on the line,” while the Coinbase-hosted event listing used the wording “10 of the world’s best traders. $150,000 on the line. One winner.” Those are promotional claims about the planned event, not confirmed results. Coinbase’s promotion and the Coinbase-hosted event listing scheduled it for October 8, 2026.

When and where was it scheduled?
The event listing placed it in Singapore on October 8, 2026, with doors scheduled for 7:30 p.m., the competition at 8:30 p.m., and an afterparty at 10 p.m. Singapore time. Coinbase’s homepage promotion separately advertised a livestream for 8:45 p.m. Singapore time. The listings do not explain the difference between the competition start and advertised stream time. The event listing and Coinbase’s promotion provide those scheduled details.

How could viewers watch and vote?
Coinbase promoted viewing through an X livestream and YouTube, and invited viewers to vote for a trader in the Coinbase app. Its promotion said voting rounds were expected to open about 24 hours before the competition; one trader could be selected in each round, votes could not be changed after submission, and unused votes would expire when the round closed. Voting and prize-drawing participation were subject to eligibility requirements, geographic restrictions, and Token 2049 Voting Rules. The eligible territories and complete rules are not established by the available materials, so consult Coinbase’s official promotion for applicable terms. Coinbase said no purchase, transaction, or payment would increase a participant’s chance of winning prizes.
Did Coinbase crown a champion and award $150,000?
That outcome is not verified. An October 8 CryptoBriefing report described the competition as underway but did not name a winner. The available sources do not confirm whether it concluded as scheduled, how scoring worked, which assets were traded, or whether the advertised $150,000 was paid—and, if so, how it was allocated. The October 8 report does not establish those results.

Accordingly, the title’s claim that Coinbase “crowns its first champion” cannot be treated as a confirmed outcome based on these reports. Coinbase’s Singapore page repeated the event promotion and described its local buying, selling, and trading service, but it is not a post-event results announcement. Coinbase Singapore.
