The CMF Phone 2 Pro has the smoother display, a dedicated 2× optical telephoto camera and a performance edge in Frandroid’s comparison. The Samsung Galaxy A17 5G offers a longer stated software-support period and optical image stabilization on its main camera. Both list 5,000mAh batteries. There is no single reliable price difference: the available prices come from different countries, dates and configurations.
Which Galaxy A17 is being compared?
This comparison is for the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G, not the separately available A17 4G. Specifications, network bands, warranty and prices can vary by region and exact model. Check the local product listing or documentation before buying.

| Durability details reported by Frandroid | IP54; plastic film over display | IP54; Gorilla Glass Victus |
The hardware figures are reported in reviews and comparison coverage, rather than verified here against regional manufacturer specification pages. Neither IP54 rating means the phone is waterproof. Camera resolution alone also does not establish which phone takes better photos.

CMF’s 120Hz panel can refresh more often than the A17 5G’s 90Hz panel in the reviewed matchup, which may make scrolling and supported animations look smoother. CMF’s screen is also slightly larger. Tom’s Guide measured a 1,179-nit peak brightness on its CMF Phone 2 Pro review unit; that is a review measurement, not a guaranteed result for every unit or setting. Frandroid also measured higher brightness for CMF in its comparison (Frandroid; Tom’s Guide).

The CMF’s Dimensity 7300 Pro 5G and the A17’s Exynos 1330 are different processors, but chip names alone do not predict every task. Frandroid’s comparison favored the CMF in its benchmark experience. Tom’s Guide reported lag and weak graphics performance on its A17 review unit. Those are outlet findings, not a guarantee of how every person’s phone will perform.
What do the camera differences mean?
The CMF has a dedicated 50MP 2× optical telephoto camera, giving it a distinct hardware option for closer framing without relying solely on digital cropping. Its ultrawide camera is listed at 8MP, compared with 5MP on the Samsung. The A17 5G’s 50MP main camera includes OIS, which helps counter movement while taking photos or video.
These features serve different needs: the CMF’s telephoto is useful for optical zoom, while OIS is a stabilization feature on Samsung’s main camera. The available specifications do not establish a universal winner for image quality in daylight, low light or video.

How long do the batteries last, and how fast do they charge?
Both phones are listed with 5,000mAh batteries, but capacity is not the same as runtime. Tom’s Guide measured 15 hours 24 minutes for the CMF in its dynamic-refresh battery test and 7 hours 52 minutes for the A17 in its separate battery-drain test. Because the publications used different protocols, those two results should not be compared directly.
Frandroid reports a same-test GSM Arena automated result of 14 hours 38 minutes for the CMF and 11 hours 48 minutes for the A17. That is the more useful direct comparison, but it is still one test protocol rather than a prediction of each owner’s daily battery life. Charging ratings reported by Tom’s Guide are 33W for the CMF and 25W for the A17; Frandroid reports no wireless charging for either phone in this matchup (Frandroid; Tom’s Guide).
Which phone has longer software support?
Frandroid reports three years of software support for the CMF Phone 2 Pro and six years for the Galaxy A17 5G. On that comparison, Samsung has the longer stated period. The cited comparison does not establish the exact local policy wording or how the period is divided between major Android upgrades and security updates, so confirm those details for the model sold in your country.

What is the price difference?
Price depends on country, date, storage, retailer and whether a figure is a list price or a changing offer. These snapshots illustrate why prices from different markets should not be combined into one global difference:

Which one should you buy?
Choose the CMF Phone 2 Pro if
- You prefer a 120Hz display over the A17’s 90Hz panel in the reviewed comparison.
- You want a dedicated 2× optical telephoto camera.
- You put more weight on the performance advantage reported in Frandroid’s comparison.
Choose the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G if
- You value the longer software-support period reported by Frandroid.
- Optical image stabilization on the main camera matters more to you than having a dedicated telephoto lens.
- The local price, configuration or warranty makes it a better fit for your needs.
Before choosing either phone, compare the exact storage and RAM configuration, local network bands and warranty. The available comparison does not establish those details for every regional model.
