Its clip-on fit leaves the ear canal open, so it avoids an in-ear seal but also lets outside sound in and music out. The case-mounted Smart Dial and physical earbud controls are useful differentiators; battery life, sound and call quality depend on what you expect from an open design.
What the CMF Clip Pro is—and how it fits
CMF by Nothing’s Clip Pro is a pair of open-ear, clip-on earbuds. A three-point clip holds each earbud around the ear rather than plugging the ear canal. That can be appealing if you dislike the pressure or plugged-up feeling of conventional in-ear buds, and it leaves surrounding sounds audible.

RTINGS found the fit comfortable and stable for many people, including during workouts. Fit is personal, however: ear shape affects comfort and security, so those findings cannot guarantee the same experience for every wearer. The earbuds carry an IP54 rating according to RTINGS; that rating applies to the earbuds, not necessarily the charging case.

The open construction is the main trade-off. You can hear more of your surroundings than with sealed earbuds, which may be useful while walking or exercising where awareness matters. It is a poor choice when the priority is blocking a plane cabin, a noisy commute, or office chatter. The Clip Pro does not provide the isolation of a sealed earbud, and the sources reviewed do not establish it as a substitute for active noise cancellation.

RTINGS reports noticeable sound leakage as well as weak isolation. Its review says the leakage-reduction feature can mitigate leakage, but it does not make the open design private: people nearby may still hear audio, particularly at higher volume. Keep the volume considerate in shared spaces.
Battery life: the claim versus a review test
Gadgets 360 reported CMF/Nothing’s launch claim of up to 10 hours from the earbuds and up to 32.5 hours total with the charging case. RTINGS measured a little over six hours of continuous playback in its own testing. These figures come from different sources and the available evidence does not establish identical test conditions, so treat the manufacturer figure as a best-case claim rather than a guaranteed everyday runtime.

If you need a dependable full-day estimate, consider how you listen—especially volume and calls—and plan around the more conservative independent result. The stated total with the case includes recharges from the case; it is not a single-charge listening time.
Sound quality and codecs
Nothing advertises Hi-Res Audio with LDAC. Gadgets 360’s launch report lists LDAC, AAC, and SBC support, along with 10.8 mm dynamic drivers. Codec support describes compatibility, not a promise that every listener will hear a particular level of detail; the source device, connection settings, fit, and the open-ear design all shape the result.

Reviewers differ in their sound descriptions. Picky Audio reports strong bass for an open-ear design, while noting tuning caveats at higher volume and bass distortion in some loud settings. RTINGS describes a bright sound and limited bass reproduction. Those observations are not contradictory so much as reminders that expectations and listening level matter: an open clip-on is not the right choice if deep, sealed-in bass or strong isolation is the priority.
Calls, controls, and connectivity
SoundGuys reports two microphones per earbud and found voice pickup good in ideal conditions, but noise rejection weaker in challenging or windy surroundings. RTINGS reports poor microphone recording quality in its testing. For quiet rooms and brief calls, performance may be adequate; for outdoor calls in wind or consistently noisy places, do not assume it will match a dedicated headset.

| Option | Why consider it | Trade-off or caveat |
|---|---|---|
| CMF Clip Pro | Open clip-on fit, case Smart Dial, and physical controls. | Weak isolation and noticeable leakage; battery and sound assessments vary by test and listening conditions. |
| EarFun Clip 2 | SoundGuys identifies it as a budget clip-on alternative and says it offers longer battery life, IP55, and wireless charging. | Verify current specifications and price; no direct controlled head-to-head test across all alternatives is established here. |
| CMF Buds 2 Plus | SoundGuys points to it as a same-brand option for a more traditional earbud experience with noise cancellation. | Check current model features and price; it is a different, in-ear style of fit. |
| Shokz OpenDots 2 or Bose Ultra Open Earbuds | RTINGS discusses these as higher-priced open-ear alternatives, including battery, microphone, connectivity, and controls. | Check current local listings; historical or search-page prices may be out of date. |
Choose based on the fit and environment you want, rather than codec labels alone. If you need quiet, start with a sealed earbud that offers noise cancellation. If you want an open design and physical controls, the Clip Pro makes more sense—provided its clip fits your ears and you accept leakage.
Quick Recap
Who should buy the CMF Clip Pro?
- Consider it if you prefer an open ear canal, want to remain aware of nearby sounds, or value the case dial and physical controls.
- Look elsewhere if you need effective isolation for travel or a noisy office, private listening around others, or especially strong wind-resistant call performance.
- Try before committing if possible if clip-on fit is new to you; stable comfort reported by reviewers is not a guarantee for every ear.
