CMF phones cost less than many alternatives because they are positioned as lower-priced devices with a particular mix of features and included accessories. Nothing’s public product pages show what buyers get, but they do not reveal the company’s component costs, manufacturing expenses, or profit margins. So the lower price can be described; a precise explanation of how much each design choice saves cannot.
What the UK prices establish
Nothing’s UK preorder terms list the CMF Phone 2 Pro at £219 for 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage and £249 for 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. Those are UK recommended retail prices in the preorder terms, not a global price or a guarantee of today’s street price. Prices and availability can vary by market and change over time. CMF Phone 1 and the next generation
Nothing’s India listing identifies the CMF Phone 1’s processor as the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 5G. In its Phone 2 Pro launch overview, Nothing says the newer model has “10% quicker processing” and “a 5% improvement in graphics” compared with Phone 1. These are the manufacturer’s stated comparisons, not independent benchmark results. Nothing’s India Phone 1 listing and Nothing’s Phone 2 Pro launch overview.
These details help show the products’ positioning and how Nothing describes the generational change. They do not establish a like-for-like cost comparison: the cited pages do not provide an audited component list, component prices, or a full set of equivalent price and performance measurements.

What is—and is not—known about the savings
The available primary sources do not disclose CMF phone unit manufacturing costs, supplier costs, or profit margins. Nor do they give an explicit list of design compromises and the amount each one saves. It would therefore be speculation to claim that a particular component, factory, labor arrangement, or omitted feature explains the lower price.

The defensible explanation is narrower: CMF is positioned as a lower-priced phone line, and its official listings show the specifications and package contents offered at those prices. The public evidence describes the products, not Nothing’s internal economics.
