What is CLUTCH?
CLUTCH is an upcoming open-world racing game developed by Maverick Games and published by Focus Entertainment Publishing. Focus announced the game on 24 August 2026 as a project by racing-game veterans. Read Focus Entertainment’s announcement.

Mike Brown, Maverick Games’ founder and CEO, is the creative lead associated with the project. PC Gamer identifies him as the former creative director of Playground Games, the studio behind Forza Horizon. The Focus announcement calls the developers Forza veterans, but does not list Brown’s individual credits. PC Gamer’s report on Brown.

When does CLUTCH release, and where can you play it?
Focus has announced a Spring 2027 release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Steam lists the release year as 2027 and currently marks the game as not yet available. The exact launch date has not been announced. View the Steam listing.
These are planned platforms and timing, not confirmation that the game is available to buy or play now. The official sources reviewed do not confirm a physical edition, merchandise, or a CLUTCH-specific accessory.

Where is the game set, and what is its story?
The setting is the French Riviera. The premise puts racing outsiders between professional motorsport and a more dangerous underground scene, with racing, pursuits, and street-racing culture at the center. The official site and Steam description name siblings Theo and Cass Martial, who become caught up in a conspiracy connected to the racing world. Official CLUTCH website.
Focus says the original story is written by Jamie Brittain, co-creator of Skins, and emphasizes character-driven storytelling. That establishes the announced narrative direction, but not how the story unfolds in play.

What gameplay features have been announced?
Open-world racing and pursuits
The publisher describes a contrast between sanctioned professional racing by day and underground racing by night. Steam also describes race-and-chase gameplay. Those are announced activities, not enough to establish the driving model, handling, progression, or whether pursuits work in a particular way.
Vehicle customization
Focus highlights deep vehicle customization, and Steam mentions car personalization. Neither listing provides a detailed parts list or explains the scope of customization.

What remains unknown
At announcement stage, there is no reliable hands-on basis to judge driving feel, performance, review quality, or final feature completeness. The sources cited here also do not establish multiplayer features. Treat those details as unconfirmed rather than assuming them from the open-world racing label.

Maverick Games is developing CLUTCH, with Focus Entertainment Publishing as publisher. Mike Brown is the studio’s founder and CEO. Focus’s Vincent Chataignier, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Focus Entertainment Publishing, said: “At Focus, we look to partner with creators who are redefining their genre.” Both quotes are from the publisher announcement.
