Clive Barker says Hellraiser: Revival showed how much creative room remains in the franchise and gave him ideas for future films. His October 15, 2026 interview did not announce a movie adaptation of the game.
What Clive Barker actually announced
In an interview with Dread Central published October 15, 2026, Barker called what the game achieved a “wake-up call” for people making franchise films. He said the project demonstrates that creators can return to an existing world “in a brand new way.” Barker added that he has many ideas he wants to see realized in the Hellraiser universe and plans to “keep my fingers in that pie.”

Those comments describe creative momentum, not a greenlit production. The interview explicitly says Barker was not announcing a movie adaptation of Revival. No cast, director, studio, release date or production schedule was disclosed.
What kinds of Hellraiser films Barker wants to explore
A larger mythology
Barker said he would like to “have another go at it and explore,” describing Hellraiser as a mythology that could use “some real space to develop and expand upon myth.” He also referred to film ideas he has kept “waiting in the wings” for Hellraiser and other media. These are proposed creative directions rather than announced projects.

Darker historical and religious imagery
He pointed to Rome, the Vatican and the Inquisition as imagery he would like to draw on for darker stories, and named Black Sunday and Suspiria as inspirations. The references indicate tone and subject matter, not titles or plot details for a forthcoming movie.
Pinhead and Doug Bradley
Discussing the character’s identity, Barker said, “Doug is Pinhead and Pinhead is Doug. They occupy the same space.” That is a statement of his view of the character’s association with Bradley, not confirmation that Bradley has been cast in a new film.

Why Revival prompted those ideas
Hellraiser: Revival is a new story in the franchise rather than a direct announcement of a film continuation. PlayStation’s July 22, 2025 announcement describes it as a single-player, first-person action survival-horror game. Players control Aidan, who uses melee and ranged weapons alongside powers from the Genesis Configuration while trying to help his girlfriend, Sunny, escape the Labyrinth.

The official Clive Barker site says he helped refine its ideas, visual style, story motifs, lore and character personalities, and identifies Doug Bradley as the voice of Pinhead.

- Detectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to find a gruesome serial killer terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a spiraling maze of horror that may not be of this world.
A July 16, 2026 PlayStation feature provides additional story context. Sunny activates the Genesis Configuration and is torn apart by Cenobites. Aidan learns that her soul may still be saved. The Scarlet Church seeks contact with the Cenobites and wants to use the box to create a debauched paradise, while the Unworthy—rejects of Leviathan—see the box as a possible route to redemption.
That combination of new characters, factions and mythology is why Barker can treat the game as a proof of concept. It expands the universe without requiring a film to remake or directly continue one of the earlier stories.

What “sparked movie ideas” means for fans
The practical takeaway is that Barker sees Revival as evidence that Hellraiser can support ambitious stories beyond the familiar film framework. His comments may increase the possibility of future film development, but they do not put a movie into production. Until a project receives formal confirmation with production partners and a release plan, Barker’s Rome, Vatican, Inquisition and other concepts remain ideas he wants to explore.
For now, Revival is the concrete release: a Barker-consulted survival-horror game built around Aidan’s attempt to recover Sunny’s soul, the Genesis Configuration and competing groups seeking the Cenobites’ power.
