Cleartrip flight rules depend on the operating airline, route, fare and time remaining before departure. A confirmed booking can generally be used for online check-in, but the airline controls the check-in window; baggage limits come from the fare and airline; and cancellation refunds are reduced by both airline charges and Cleartrip’s service fee.
Use your Trip ID as the starting point. It lets you open the booking, check fare conditions, request cancellation, view the refund calculation and reach support without searching for a separate reservation.

How Cleartrip web check-in works
Cleartrip defines web check-in as checking in online, choosing a seat and receiving a boarding pass that can be printed or emailed. The service is available for passengers with a valid, confirmed booking, but a Cleartrip request cannot bypass the operating airline’s own check-in timetable.

When you can check in
Cleartrip says a web-check-in request may be made up to six hours before the scheduled departure. That is the latest point stated in its FAQ for submitting a request; it is not a guarantee that the airline will already have opened check-in. Many airlines open online check-in only about 48 hours before departure, so a request can remain in progress until the airline’s window begins. Check the timing shown for your particular flight and allow enough time for airport formalities.

What you receive
When the airline accepts the request, the result can include your selected seat and an e-boarding pass. Save the pass on your phone and, where practical, keep a printed copy as a backup. The pass is for the flight and passenger shown on the booking; changing a passenger, segment or seat after check-in may require the check-in to be reversed first.
Checked baggage changes the airport process
A passenger travelling with no checked baggage can normally proceed to the departure gate after completing the required security and airport checks with the boarding pass. If you have a suitcase to check, online check-in does not remove the airport step: take the bag to the airline’s baggage-drop counter before the counter closes. The airline may still verify travel documents, weigh the bag or collect an excess-baggage charge.
If the request fails or stays pending
If Cleartrip cannot complete a paid web-check-in request, its FAQ says the amount paid for that request is refunded within 10–12 business days. That refund concerns the unsuccessful web-check-in request, not automatically the air ticket. Keep the booking reference and any error message while waiting.

A request can also appear incomplete because the airline has not opened its window yet. Try again when the airline’s stated opening time arrives. If the airline website offers check-in directly, use the airline’s booking reference and passenger details there; the airline is the party that ultimately issues the boarding pass.
If you already checked in
Cleartrip says a completed check-in must first be undone on the airline’s website before Cleartrip can cancel or amend the ticket. Do not assume that cancelling a ticket in the app automatically removes an airline-issued boarding pass. Reverse the check-in with the airline, then return to the Trip ID and start the change or cancellation request.
How to find your baggage allowance
There is no single Cleartrip baggage number that applies to every flight. The allowance is set by the airline and the fare purchased, and it can vary by route, cabin, fare family and ticket conditions. Treat the allowance displayed for your booking as controlling rather than relying on a generic figure found elsewhere.

Check the airline’s allowance page
Cleartrip directs travellers to its airline-specific terms page: http://www.cleartrip.com/terms/airline_terms.shtml. Select the airline and read the section headed Baggage Allowance. This is the place to check the airline’s published cabin-bag and checked-bag limits, any weight or piece restrictions and conditions for that carrier.
Read the fare rules in your booking
During booking and in the Cleartrip Trips page, open the fare rules for the exact itinerary. Compare those rules with the airline allowance page because a discounted or restricted fare may include less baggage than a flexible fare on the same aircraft. Check every passenger and every segment: a multi-city or connecting itinerary can contain different operating airlines or fare conditions.
Before leaving for the airport
- Confirm whether the allowance is measured by pieces, total kilograms or a combination of both.
- Check cabin-bag dimensions and the number of permitted items, not only the weight.
- Look for charges on extra, overweight or oversized baggage and note whether they must be paid online or at the airport.
- Weigh your bag at home and keep medication, identification, valuables and essential electronics in the cabin baggage permitted by the fare.
- Allow time for baggage drop even after online check-in; the airline’s counter deadline can be earlier than the flight’s departure time.
How to cancel a Cleartrip flight
Self-service cancellation is usually the fastest route when the booking is eligible. Sign in to Cleartrip, open the relevant Trip ID and use the cancellation flow. The refund shown before confirmation is the amount Cleartrip calculates from the airline rules and its own fee at that moment.

Step-by-step cancellation
- Sign in to the Cleartrip account that made the booking.
- Open the trip using its Trip ID.
- Select Cancellations.
- Choose the passengers or individual flight segments to cancel. Review the selection carefully if some travellers are still flying.
- Read the displayed refund, deductions and any deadline, then select Yes, cancel now to confirm.
- Save the cancellation confirmation and Trip ID for your records.
Refunds are sent to the original payment method according to Cleartrip’s FAQ. A card, bank or wallet provider can take additional time to post the credit after Cleartrip has processed it.
Cleartrip’s cancellation fee
In addition to the airline’s cancellation charge, Cleartrip states that it applies a non-refundable fee per passenger per sector. A sector means each flight leg covered by the booking, so a return itinerary can involve more than one sector.

These are Cleartrip’s stated FAQ figures, not universal airline regulations. The total refund can change with the airline, sector, travel class and how close the cancellation is to departure. The fare rules attached to your booking and the amount displayed in the cancellation screen are therefore more authoritative than a general example.
Cancellation deadlines are not identical in every Cleartrip FAQ
Cleartrip’s consumer FAQ says a cancellation can be made no later than three hours before departure. Its business-flight FAQ states three hours for domestic flights and five hours for international flights. Because those official contexts differ, check the cutoff shown for your Trip ID. If the flight is approaching the deadline, contact support before assuming that a late request will be accepted.

Cleartrip gives more than one timing statement, which describes different stages of the process. In the step-by-step cancellation answer it says refunds are normally processed within 24 hours. Elsewhere in the same FAQ it says processing is usually within four working days, while most refunds take about 14 working days to appear on the account statement.

Working-day estimates exclude weekends and may not match your bank’s calendar. Keep the cancellation confirmation, the original payment reference and screenshots of the refund calculation. If the stated period has passed, ask support to trace the transaction using the Trip ID and original payment method rather than submitting a duplicate cancellation.

When to use self-service and when to contact support
Self-service is suitable when
- The Trip ID appears after sign-in and the Cancellations option is available.
- You are cancelling the whole booking or clearly selected passengers and segments.
- The displayed refund and deadline are understandable before you confirm.
- Any completed airline check-in has already been undone.
Contact support first when
- The booking cannot be fetched, the Trip ID is missing or the cancellation button is unavailable.
- You need to cancel close to the stated three- or five-hour cutoff.
- Only one traveller or one leg should be cancelled but the screen does not let you select it safely.
- The airline has changed the schedule, the flight is disrupted or the fare rules conflict with the amount displayed.
- A refund has exceeded the relevant processing and bank-posting period.
Cleartrip’s support page lets you enter a Trip ID or sign in to fetch trips, then view trip details, cancel a trip, amend flights and print an e-ticket. Use www.cleartrip.com/support and have the Trip ID ready. Cleartrip lists customer care at +91 9595333333. Its terms describe Trip ID customer care as available 24×7 and instruct customers to provide the Trip ID for related services.
Information to have ready for a faster case
- Trip ID and passenger name exactly as booked.
- Flight number, travel date, route and the segment affected.
- Whether online check-in has been completed and, if so, whether it was reversed on the airline website.
- The payment method, transaction reference and date of any cancellation or web-check-in request.
- A screenshot of the fare rules, error message or refund amount when the displayed result is disputed.

Choose the route that shows a confirmed boarding pass and leaves enough time for airport bag drop. If one channel reports an error, do not repeatedly pay for duplicate requests; record the error, check whether the airline window is open and then use the support route tied to your Trip ID.
A practical day-of-travel checklist
- Open the Trip ID and verify passenger names, flight date, airports and operating airline.
- Read the fare rules and baggage allowance for every segment.
- Check whether online check-in is open for the airline and whether your booking has any document or route restriction.
- Complete check-in and save the boarding pass; confirm that the name and flight details match your identification.
- If carrying checked baggage, arrive early enough for the airline’s bag-drop deadline, not merely the scheduled departure.
- If plans change, check the cancellation deadline and displayed refund before confirming. Remember that Cleartrip’s service fee is added to airline charges.
- Keep the Trip ID, confirmation emails, boarding pass and payment reference until travel and any refund are complete.
For the most reliable answer on a specific itinerary, combine the booking’s fare rules with the operating airline’s baggage and check-in instructions.
