Clash Royale: The Grand Arena is a physical, turn-based board game from Maestro Media and Supercell. Maestro Media’s current planned Kickstarter start date is October 20, 2026. Earlier 2026 announcements referred to September, but the later dated coverage identifies October 20 as the date to use. A campaign page, pledge levels, funding goal and launch-day availability should be treated as unconfirmed until the official Kickstarter campaign is live.

How The Grand Arena plays
Decks and Champions
Each player controls a force represented by an eight-card deck built around a selected Champion. The available card and Champion roster has not been published in the available reveal material, so there is no confirmed component inventory yet.
Two-lane positioning
The board presents two lanes. Players choose where to send attacks, place defensive units and use items, creating a spatial decision that is visible to everyone at the table rather than hidden behind a digital arena.

Elixir and quick turns
Elixir limits the actions a player can take. The design team tested real-time play against a clock, simultaneous reveals and systems built around cubes before settling on Elixir spending in a turn-based card system. Lead designer David Gordon said: “Ultimately, we found that focusing on elixir spending in a turn-based card play system yielded a fun experience that most resembled that of the videogame.”

Towers, Crowns and the winner
Games consist of multiple battles. Destroying an opponent’s tower earns a Crown, and the player with the most Crowns at the end wins. The result is a tabletop scoring system that echoes Clash Royale’s tower-and-Crown objective without requiring a live service or digital matchmaking.

The tabletop edition is therefore not the same game with its interface removed. Its pace, information flow and action limits are different, but the central counterplay remains familiar. Gordon described the goal this way: “By focusing on lanes, counter play, and quick turns, we created a system where players feel that same exciting back-and-forth momentum.”

The design team reportedly tested the game with existing Clash fans and with strategy-game players who were unfamiliar with the mobile title.
