Why did Dipke thank Mumbai Police?
After the protest, Dipke posted a message thanking police personnel for their cooperation during the day. Hindustan Times reported his message as: “Thank you, Mumbai Police, for your cooperation today. Salute to all the police personnel who were on duty! Jai Hind. Delhi Police, seekh lo kuch Mumbai Police se.” The thanks explains the headline; it is Dipke’s characterization of the police response, not an independent assessment of how the event was managed. Did Mumbai Police permit the gathering?
Reports said police had denied permission for the proposed gathering, but protesters went ahead under heavy security. The cited reporting attributed the objections to concerns including noise and traffic. Hindustan Times also listed restrictions on gatherings at Shivaji Park, the lack of required civic permission, traffic, and access for emergency vehicles among the reported reasons. What did participants say about voter rights?
Hindustan Times reported that Shabana Azmi spoke about democracy, rights, people’s voices and names being removed from voter lists. She said: “This is a question of our democracy. It is a question of our rights. It is a question of our voice.” Her remarks were participant commentary; the event coverage does not independently verify voter-list removals. (Hindustan Times)
Why did CJP choose Mumbai, and what was announced next?
Dipke pointed to the contrast between the BJP winning nine of Maharashtra’s 48 Lok Sabha seats in 2024 and its subsequent Assembly result as his reason for choosing Mumbai. That was his political explanation for the location, not evidence that the election comparison proves SIR irregularities. (The New Indian Express)
Dipke also announced a conditional plan for a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on October 10 if Kumar did not resign. The New Indian Express quoted CJP’s founder: “If Gyanesh Kumar doesn’t resign, cockroaches from across India will march to Delhi & protest at Jantar Mantar on October 10.” This was an announcement made on October 2; the cited coverage does not establish whether the planned protest later took place.
