Cities: Skylines II’s Park Adventures DLC adds zoos and theme parks—and free base-game improvements

Park Adventures, planned for Q4 2026, is the first expansion in Cities: Skylines II’s Expansion Pass 2. It adds a modular system for building city parks, zoos, amusement parks and nature reserves, with more than 100 assets and five maps. The bigger news for every player is that Iceflake Studios is also rebuilding leisure behavior and shipping simulation, visual and interface improvements in free updates.

What Park Adventures adds

Park Adventures lets you draw a park area and develop it with buildings and attractions. You do not select a permanent park category before construction; the facilities you place determine whether the result functions as a city park, zoo, amusement park or nature reserve.

Four park types in one modular system

  • City parks: conventional public leisure spaces integrated into neighborhoods.
  • Zoos: animal-focused destinations built from modular facilities.
  • Amusement parks: attraction-led entertainment areas.
  • Nature reserves: recreation centered on preserved landscapes.

Parks level up as they attract visitors. A new park economy gives you direct controls over ticket prices, staff budgets and maintenance. Those decisions affect the park’s ability to keep ratings high, so a successful attraction requires more than placing decorative assets.

Content included

Paradox and Iceflake describe more than 100 new assets and five maps in the expansion. The paid content is scheduled for Q4 2026; the announcement does not provide a more specific release day.

#1 Best Overall
Cities: Skylines II - PlayStation 5
  • Deep Simulation: Make choices that have ripple effects across the city. Intricate AI and economic systems mean players will need to strategize, problem solve and react to changes, challenges and opportunities.
  • Epic Scale, Endless Possibilities: Build a thriving metropolis without compromise. In Cities: Skylines II, players will be able to build sky-high and across the map to realize their dream city like never before.
  • Cities That Come Alive: Follow the lives of individual citizens, from love and loss to wealth and well-being. Player decisions will shape the lives of their city’s citizens.
  • A Dynamic World: Pick a map to set the climate and biome of the city. These natural forces will shape the growth of players’ cities as they contend with rising pollution, changeable weather and seasonal challenges.

The free changes that strengthen the base game

You do not need to own Park Adventures to receive the central leisure-system work. Iceflake’s official Cities: Skylines II Steam announcement says the leisure rework and improvements to how citizens choose and use leisure destinations will be available to everyone. In the studio’s words, “The leisure rework is probably the biggest example of this. While it started as a core part of developing the new parks, the changes are not limited to the DLC.”

That means owners of the base game receive better leisure destination behavior even if they never build a zoo or amusement park. The announcement also points to visual and other base-game improvements connected to the expansion’s development.

Autumn Breeze patch 1.6.2f1

The Autumn Breeze patch released alongside the September 15, 2026 Expansion Pass 2 announcement. Its documented changes apply to the base game and include:

  • Improved destination logic for garbage trucks.
  • A stronger happiness impact from garbage.
  • Changed priorities for company renting.
  • Adjusted residential-demand calculations for large cities.
  • Citizen spending decisions based on income rather than wealth.
  • Fixes for several vehicle and household behaviors.
  • Visual and user-interface changes.
  • Asset Editor improvements.
  • Paradox Mods changes.

These are concrete simulation and tooling changes, not a promise of a measured performance increase. The published material contains no independent sales, frame-rate or player-satisfaction study proving that the update improves a particular metric.

Paradox said the pass could be up to 24% cheaper than purchasing its contents individually; both the price and that comparison are time-sensitive and should be checked at purchase.

Do the theme-park and zoo features come free?

No. The modular park-building features, park progression, park economy, new assets and five maps belong to the paid Park Adventures expansion. The free portion is the leisure rework and related improvements to citizen destination choices, plus the Autumn Breeze patch changes. A player who buys no DLC still receives those base-game updates.

Park Adventures alone or the full pass?

Choose Park Adventures alone if

  • You mainly want zoos, amusement parks, nature reserves or deeper city-park management.
  • You prefer to wait for the Q4 2026 expansion rather than commit to a 2027 roadmap.
  • The free leisure rework already answers your interest in improving how residents use destinations.

Choose Expansion Pass 2 if

  • You expect to use several types of content across the roadmap, not just parks.
  • The Downtown Market Set’s instant unlock, creator packs, radio station and map content have value for your cities.
  • You are interested in the tourism systems planned for City Vacations or the emergency-service buildings in First Response.
  • The announced bundle discount remains available at the price you see when buying.

Buying the pass is not necessary to obtain the free simulation work. The decision is therefore about the paid roadmap and its bundled extras, rather than access to the core leisure fixes.

Release timing and ownership details

Paradox Interactive and Iceflake Studios announced Expansion Pass 2 on September 15, 2026, with a PC launch and a roadmap through Q2 2027. Park Adventures is listed for Q4 2026, while City Vacations and the Map Pack are listed for Q2 2027. Roadmap windows can change, so confirm the store listing before purchase.

The ownership boundary is explicit: the new leisure systems and improved leisure-destination choices are available to everyone, while the themed park construction and its content require Park Adventures. This split lets base-game players benefit from the simulation work without buying the expansion, and lets DLC buyers build the new destinations on top of the same revised leisure behavior.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
