In Amateur Photographer’s September 2026 review, Wade found it enjoyable in bright conditions, but noted exposure and screen limitations. Its “64MP” name also does not describe the sensor: the review reports an 8MP sensor producing 12MP files.
What is the Chuzelblad?
Chuzhao calls the product the Vintage 64MP Retro Digital Camera. Amateur Photographer reviewer John Wade dubbed it the “Chuzelblad” because its compact, cubic body recalls a Hasselblad. That nickname is not an official Chuzhao or Hasselblad model name. The camera comes in black, red, green and grey, with gold-colored fittings, according to Wade’s September 2026 review.

It is a small digital camera with a retro design, a pop-up hood around the screen and a side handle that operates the digital zoom. The appeal is largely its look and novelty value; the camera is not positioned by the review as a serious all-purpose model.
What does the camera actually offer?
The “64MP” wording appears in the product name, but the review reports an 8MP, 1/3.2-inch sensor and 12MP image files. Those figures are distinct: the marketing name is not the sensor resolution reported by Wade.

How does it perform in practice?
Wade reports that the camera performs well in bright conditions and is easy to handle. He found it possible to hold steady despite the lack of image stabilization, and says the camera can produce crisp prints up to about A4 size. That is the reviewer’s assessment, not a guarantee for every scene or print workflow.

Exposure and viewing
Evenly lit subjects exposed acceptably in the review. High-contrast scenes—with notably light and dark areas—could confuse the metering and lead to over- or under-exposure. The screen is difficult to see in bright sunlight; Wade described it as “a bit naff in bright sunlight.”
Handling and zoom
The camera is straightforward to hold, but the zoom handle felt flimsy to the reviewer. Its 16× zoom is digital, so it should not be mistaken for optical zoom.

Who should consider buying it?
The Chuzelblad makes most sense for someone who wants a fun, unusual camera or enjoys collecting retro-styled gadgets. Wade calls it “a delightful little digital camera about two-thirds the size of the real thing,” while also cautioning: “You won’t buy a Chuzelblad as your only camera.” Its modest sensor, exposure behavior in high contrast and sunlight-unfriendly screen make it a poor fit if dependable everyday photography is the priority.
What did it cost in the review?
Amateur Photographer listed the camera at £35.99 on Amazon when its review was published in September 2026, and noted that prices vary. That is a publication-time observation, not a current quote. Listings on Amazon and eBay can vary widely, so check the current total price, seller and returns policy before ordering.
Is there a similar alternative?
Digital Camera World’s review of the Kodak Charmera describes a different kind of novelty camera: a small keychain model styled after an old 110 film camera, sold in blind-box packaging that leaves the design unknown until purchase. It is relevant if keychain portability matters more than the Chuzelblad’s larger cubic body and pop-up screen. That review covers a separate product and does not establish comparable image quality or performance between the two cameras.
