The word “collection” can therefore refer to two different things:
- Current digital game editions: the modern release distributed separately through Steam, iPhone/iOS, Android and Amazon Appstore.
- Physical music collection: the CHRONO TRIGGER Original Soundtrack Vinyl LP Box, a four-record soundtrack product that does not include the game.
If a listing or social post calls something a “new collection,” check whether it means the soundtrack box or is simply describing the current enhanced game edition. No official announcement in the documented sources confirms a new Switch, PlayStation, Xbox or multi-game package.

What is included in the modern digital edition?
Two additional dungeons

Updated graphics and sound
The current release updates the game’s graphics and audio presentation while retaining the original adventure. The update is an edition-level change, not a promise of a full remake with newly modeled environments or a redesigned combat system.
Configurable controls
On Steam, the release supports controller configuration as well as mouse-and-keyboard configuration. That gives PC players a way to adapt input to their setup instead of being limited to a single fixed control scheme. Mobile users receive the updated control implementation documented for the mobile release; the exact on-screen layout can depend on device and operating-system configuration.

This reduces the risk of losing a long stretch of exploration, but it should not replace deliberate saves before a difficult encounter or major decision.
- Save points: the original Save Point function remains available. When you reach one, use it to make a deliberate save in the traditional way.
- Saving when quitting through the menu: use the in-game menu’s quit flow to save before closing the application. This is useful when you are ending a session away from a save point.
The autosave feature supplements, rather than removes, the original save-point system. Keep a manual save slot when you want a dependable fallback before entering a dungeon, changing equipment or attempting a sequence you may want to replay.

Mobile cloud saves
Square Enix’s PC/mobile release announcement says the mobile version includes cloud-save features. That statement establishes cloud-save support at the mobile-release level, but it does not define one universal procedure for every iPhone, Android device or Amazon Appstore installation. Your platform account, operating-system backup settings, network status and regional store configuration can affect what is available.
Before changing phones or reinstalling, launch the game on the old device, allow any pending synchronization to finish, and check the destination device’s account and restore options. Do not erase the old installation until you have confirmed that the expected save appears on the new device.
Is there cross-platform save transfer?
No universal cross-platform transfer policy is established. The documented information does not promise that a Steam save can be imported into iOS, Android or Amazon Appstore, or that a mobile save can be moved to Steam. Treat each platform’s saves as separate unless the store listing and device documentation for your region explicitly state otherwise.

These changes matter when comparing screenshots or videos from launch with a patched installation. They also explain why the current PC experience may look or read differently from an unpatched early build.
What extras are available on Steam?
The Steam extras area documents movies, illustrations, sound and endings that become available through play. The archive is not necessarily complete from the first launch: endings become viewable after they have been unlocked and viewed in the game.
There is also an important completion-status caveat. After an update, an ending may need to be watched again before the extras archive registers it as completed. If an ending appears to be missing from the completion record even though you saw it previously, replay that ending rather than assuming the save is damaged.
What about the launch bonus package?
The Steam release offered a limited-time digital bonus package containing a music medley, Yasunori Mitsuda liner notes and six wallpapers. The offer was described as limited to purchases made through April 2, 2018. It should therefore not be treated as a guaranteed entitlement for a purchase made today. Check the current store listing for the contents actually attached to your purchase.

What is the physical Chrono Trigger collection in 2026?
The directly relevant current physical collection is the CHRONO TRIGGER Original Soundtrack Vinyl LP Box. It is a soundtrack product, not a newly announced bundle of video games.

There is no documented reason to buy multiple digital editions merely to obtain the two extra dungeons: they are included in the modern Steam/mobile-derived release. A second purchase is only useful if you want to play on another platform and that platform does not support the save-transfer path you need.
Checklist before you buy or move a save
- Confirm that the listing names Steam, iPhone/iOS, Android or Amazon Appstore, rather than relying on an unofficial platform claim.
- Read the current regional product description for price, language, device compatibility and included extras.
- For mobile migration, verify cloud synchronization on the original device before deleting or resetting it.
- Do not assume Steam-to-mobile or mobile-to-Steam save transfer without an explicit statement from the relevant store or device documentation.
- If you want the soundtrack, verify that the product is the four-LP music box; it is separate from the game software.
- After a PC update, replay an ending if the extras archive does not mark it as viewed.
