Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf a Chromium screenshot ends at the bottom of the visible window, first check whether your code is taking a viewport screenshot rather than a full-page one. In Puppeteer, set fullPage: true; it defaults to false. If you already do that, inspect any crop rectangle and the actual options passed to the screenshot call before assuming Chromium has a bug.
Make Puppeteer capture the full page
Use Puppeteer’s fullPage screenshot option when you want the whole document rather than just the visible viewport:

await page.screenshot({ path: 'page.png', fullPage: true });
fullPage defaults to false, so a screenshot call that omits it normally captures only the viewport. If the output still looks cropped, verify that the call actually receives fullPage: true—for example, that a later options object is not replacing it.
Check clipping when the screenshot is still cut off
A clip is a bounded capture region, not a request to capture the entire document. Look for a clip option in your Puppeteer or DevTools Protocol call and check its x, y, width and height. A height that ends near the viewport boundary can explain why the result stops there even when the page itself continues.
#1 Best Overall
- Easy Testing: HexChecks Instant Swabs allow for quick and convenient testing for the presence of hexavalent chromium.
- Efficient Pack: Comes in a pack of 10 swabs, providing ample supply for multiple testing needs.
- Reliable Results: Utilizes a proven testing method to accurately detect hexavalent chromium traces.
- Compact Design: Swabs are conveniently packaged in a compact box for easy storage and portability.
- Straightforward Usage: Simply swab the desired surface and observe the color change for a clear indication of test results.
- If you need the whole document, remove an unnecessary clip and use Puppeteer’s
fullPage: true. - If you need only a specific region, keep the clip but set its coordinates and dimensions to the intended region.
- Log or inspect the final options object at the point where the screenshot is taken, especially when options are assembled from multiple objects.
If you call the Chrome DevTools Protocol directly
For raw CDP, inspect the parameters to Page.captureScreenshot, especially clip and captureBeyondViewport. The protocol documents captureBeyondViewport as defaulting to false. Set it deliberately for your intended capture, and do not assume that a clip will expand to include the document.
// Example shape for a direct CDP screenshot request:
const result = await cdpSession.send('Page.captureScreenshot', {
format: 'png',
captureBeyondViewport: true
});
This is a parameter example, not a complete browser setup: cdpSession must be an established DevTools Protocol session. If you supply a clip, review that rectangle as well; it can still bound the image.

- MADE IN USA: Manufactured in the United States by HexChecks, ensuring consistent quality and reliability in chemical detection
- EASY TO USE: Simple colorimetric detection method provides quick visual indication of hexavalent chromium presence
- COMPLETE PACKAGE: All-in-one testing solution with necessary components for immediate use in surface contamination detection
Choose the right target: viewport, document, or element
- Visible viewport: use the ordinary screenshot mode when only what is currently on screen is wanted.
- Full document: use Puppeteer’s
fullPage: true, or inspect the corresponding CDP capture settings. - One component: use Puppeteer’s
ElementHandle.screenshot()rather than capturing and cropping the whole page. Puppeteer attempts to scroll a hidden element into view by default when taking an element screenshot.
When the page is exceptionally tall
First verify the capture mode and clipping settings. Extremely tall output can also run into image-size constraints, but there is no basis here for treating one height as a universal current Chromium limit. A Puppeteer issue opened in 2017 reported a 16,384-pixel maximum in the reporter’s tested cases, with some very tall captures producing white output. That is a historical report, not a guarantee about current Puppeteer or Chromium versions.
If the options are correct but a very tall image is incomplete, record the Puppeteer and Chromium versions and compare the page’s rendered height with the actual output dimensions. Consider whether the task can be split into smaller regions or captured as a PDF rather than relying on one exceptionally tall raster image.

Troubleshooting checklist
- Ends exactly at the viewport: confirm that the intended full-page option is set. In Puppeteer, explicitly pass
fullPage: true. - Ends at a specific coordinate: find any
clipvalue and verify its origin, width and height. - Uses raw CDP: inspect
Page.captureScreenshotand setcaptureBeyondViewportintentionally; its documented default is false. - Only one hidden element is missing: use element-level capture; Puppeteer’s element screenshot method attempts to scroll hidden elements into view.
- Only very tall pages fail or turn white: verify the output dimensions and browser versions. Treat the old 16,384-pixel issue report as historical evidence, not a current universal cap.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. A single request can return an image or PDF, without setting up Chromium automation yourself. It removes supported cookie and consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets before capture; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are not billed. AI agents can use its MCP server, and the free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000.
Example request (replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key):
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
