Choosing a Roku TV: Match the Series to Your Budget and Needs

If you want a Roku TV, the best-supported pick for most buyers is the Roku Pro Series Mini-LED: it combines a 120Hz panel with Mini-LED backlighting and gaming-ready HDMI 2.1 inputs. For a lower-cost 4K option, consider the Roku Plus Series, but expect a 60Hz panel and no HDMI 2.1. If price matters most, the Roku Select Series 4K is the entry-level family to check, with panel technology varying by screen size.

“Roku TV” can mean a television made by Roku or one made by another manufacturer that runs Roku software. The recommendations below focus on Roku’s own TV families; partner-made models are a separate category.

Which Roku TV is best for your needs?

Family Best fit Key specifications Main trade-off
Roku Pro Series Mini-LED (2025) Best overall for a bright, feature-rich 4K set and gaming 55, 65, or 75 inches; QLED with Mini-LED; 120Hz; two HDMI 2.1 inputs Viewing angles, reflections, and built-in audio may disappoint some rooms and setups.
Roku Plus Series Value-oriented 4K viewing 55, 65, or 75 inches; QLED; 60Hz; full-array local dimming at the family level No HDMI 2.1, and its 60Hz panel is less suited to high-refresh-rate gaming.
Roku Select Series 4K Entry-level Roku-made 4K TV in a wide range of sizes 43, 50, 55, 65, 75, or 85 inches; direct-lit; LED at 43 inches and QLED at 50–85 inches Do not assume every size has the same panel technology or performance.

These are family-level recommendations, not a six-model test ranking. Confirm the precise model number and specifications before buying: features can vary by size and SKU.

Roku Pro Series Mini-LED: the strongest all-rounder

The 2025 Pro Series Mini-LED is the most compelling choice when you want a higher-refresh-rate Roku TV. TechRadar lists a 120Hz QLED panel with Mini-LED backlighting, Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10 and HLG support, Dolby Atmos, and four HDMI inputs, including two HDMI 2.1 ports. It also lists an ATSC 1.0 tuner. TechRadar’s reviewer says they used the set for a month and reports lab measurements; those are the publication’s findings, not a guarantee that every room or viewer will get the same result. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 buying guide also names the Pro Mini-LED its overall pick. Its review notes three practical drawbacks: off-axis picture quality, reflective glass, and limited built-in audio support. The Pro is therefore a better fit when viewers sit fairly centrally and you can control room reflections. If seating spreads widely across a room or sound quality is a priority, account for those compromises before paying for the higher-tier set. (Tom’s Guide buying guide, updated April 27, 2026)

TechRadar gives historical launch prices of $899.99 for 55 inches, $1,199.99 for 65 inches, and $1,699.99 for 75 inches, and says the TV released in June 2025. Those figures are launch-price context, not current offers. Check today’s price for the exact size and model before comparing value. (TechRadar review)

Roku Plus Series: a value pick with a 60Hz ceiling

Tom’s Guide recommends the Plus Series as its budget/value choice, praising its HDR color, sound, and Roku interface while flagging so-so brightness. Its guide lists 55-, 65-, and 75-inch models, a 60Hz refresh rate, and four HDMI 2.0 ports. That makes it a sensible option for everyday streaming and TV viewing, but not the right choice if you specifically need HDMI 2.1 or a 120Hz panel for high-frame-rate gaming. Roku’s family-level specifications describe Plus as a 4K QLED range with full-array local dimming and 60Hz. The support comparison lists Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on select models, so check the exact SKU rather than assuming those features apply to every Plus TV. (Roku Support)

Roku Select Series 4K: check the screen size, not just the family name

The Select Series offers 43-, 50-, 55-, 65-, 75-, and 85-inch 4K models. Roku lists direct-lit backlighting, HDR10+ and HLG, Wi-Fi 5, Ethernet, Bluetooth, Dolby Audio, an HDMI input with eARC, and an antenna input. The 43-inch version uses an LED panel; the 50- through 85-inch versions use QLED. Roku says the TV streams without a separate streaming device, but streaming services require an internet connection. (Roku Select Series product page)

That size-dependent panel difference matters when comparing prices: a 43-inch Select is not simply a smaller version of the larger QLED models. Tom’s Guide reviewed the 65R5D5 and described the same LED-versus-QLED split across the range. Its review-time price was $379 at Best Buy against a stated regular price of $449; those are historical figures and should not be treated as current pricing. (Tom’s Guide Select 65R5D5 review)

How to choose the right size and features

  • Match the exact size to your room. Compare the viewing distance, seating layout, and available wall or stand space. Confirm the TV’s dimensions and stand footprint for the precise SKU.
  • Choose refresh rate for how you watch. The Pro Mini-LED is listed at 120Hz; the Plus is 60Hz. A higher refresh rate is most relevant for compatible gaming and motion-sensitive viewing.
  • Check the ports against your devices. If you need HDMI 2.1, the cited Pro specification includes two such inputs. The Plus guide lists four HDMI 2.0 ports and no HDMI 2.1.
  • Consider lighting and seating. The Pro’s reflective screen and off-axis limitations make it less suitable for rooms with strong reflections or widely spread seating.
  • Plan for audio needs. The Pro’s built-in audio support is a noted weakness. If you need stronger sound, check the TV’s audio connections and your planned sound system, including eARC compatibility.
  • Verify reception and mounting. Check the exact input and tuner details if you use an antenna, and confirm VESA pattern, mount capacity, and clearance before wall-mounting.
  • Compare current offers by model number. Prices and retailer bundles change; compare the same screen size, model year, and SKU rather than relying on launch or review-time prices.

Roku-made TVs versus partner-made Roku TVs

Roku sells its own Select, Plus, Pro, and Pro OLED families, and also provides Roku software for TVs made by other manufacturers. Roku directs owners of partner-manufactured TVs to the manufacturer for product-specific details. The Roku TV Finder includes both Roku and partner-made examples; confirm the maker, model year, and software platform for any set you consider. (Roku Support; Roku TV Finder)

Roku’s family comparison identifies the Pro OLED as a separate 4K OLED range with self-lit pixels, 120Hz, Dolby Vision/HDR10+, and Dolby Atmos. Those family-level specifications do not establish how it performs against the Mini-LED Pro or whether it is a better value, so it should not be treated as interchangeable with the Pro Series Mini-LED. RTINGS notes that fewer third-party brands offer Roku-integrated TVs than in the past. This makes checking the exact model year and platform especially important if you are shopping beyond Roku’s own line. (RTINGS)
