When did China Construction Bank Malaysia receive its licence?
Bank Negara Malaysia announced on 1 November 2016 that the Minister of Finance had granted a commercial bank licence to China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad. The licence grant was not the same date as the start of business. The dates therefore describe two separate steps: the 2016 regulatory licence grant and the bank’s operational launch in early 2017. The headline should not be read as evidence that the licence was newly issued.

To verify a share-price claim, a dated market-data record should identify the instrument and ticker, exchange, currency, timestamp and trading session. Those details matter because the headline’s price fragment does not say what asset it describes or when the figure applied. Without them, the number cannot be reliably checked or interpreted, and it should not be repeated as a confirmed price. What do the reported financial figures show—and what do they not show?
A 11 June 2024 announcement by MARC Ratings, carried in Bank Negara Malaysia’s FAST system, affirmed China Construction Bank (Malaysia) Berhad’s ratings at AA+/MARC-1 with a stable outlook. The announcement reported selected historical figures: in 2023, the loan book grew 2.6 times to RM3.1 billion, with MARC attributing the growth to loans related to the East Coast Rail Link project. It also reported a total capital ratio of 54.1% at the end of 2023 and no recorded impairments.
