Among the published plans checked on October 13, 2026, the lowest advertised 10-slot prices were Nitrado at $16.19 for 30 days and PingPerfect at $16.33 per month. Host Havoc listed a $20.00-per-month starting price, with the final amount affected by billing term and add-ons. Those figures are not proof of a universally cheapest host: taxes, currency, location, renewal terms, slot count and configuration can change the checkout total.
For a small Arma 3 group, the best-value choice is the least expensive plan that puts the data center near your players, provides enough CPU and memory for your scenario and mods, and includes the administration and recovery tools you will actually use. Compare identical slot counts and billing terms before deciding. Godlike.Host also hosts Arma 3 servers, with free DDoS protection, up to three free backups a day with restore, SFTP/FTP access and a Pterodactyl-based game panel; see the current plans.

What “cheap but good” means for an Arma 3 server
Arma 3 can run as a standard listen server from the Multiplayer menu, but Bohemia Interactive says dedicated servers can provide “greater performance.” A rented dedicated instance also keeps the host player’s computer and connection out of the critical path, which is useful when missions run for several hours or use large mod collections.
Recommended Free Tools
There is no single supported player number that guarantees smooth play. Bohemia’s FAQ explains that a reasonable maximum depends on the scenario, server hardware and available bandwidth. A ten-slot plan can be excellent for a squad that normally has six to eight people, while a larger plan can struggle if its CPU allocation is weak and the mission is script-heavy.

- Player-driven story
- More than 70 weapons
- Over 100 different vehicles
- Massive online battles
- Game world of 225 square km
“Still good” therefore means more than the lowest headline price. Check these factors together:
- Slots: Capacity for the number of people who play at the same time, not an aspirational maximum.
- Location: A data center close to most players, reducing latency and routing distance.
- Resources: Clear information about CPU generation or allocation, RAM and storage, rather than a vague “game server” label.
- Mod and file controls: Workshop installation, FTP or file-manager access, configuration editing and log viewing.
- Recovery: Backup frequency, retention and restoration procedures, plus DDoS mitigation.
- Total cost: The same term, taxes, renewal price and add-ons included in the comparison.
Published price comparison
The table uses first-party prices captured October 13, 2026. They are examples of advertised offers, not an exhaustive market survey or an independent performance ranking. Recheck the provider checkout page for your country before paying.
| Provider | Published example | Advertised details relevant to value | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nitrado | 10 slots: $16.19 for 30 days 20 slots: $24.99 for 30 days |
Multiple locations, mod/plugin installation, configurable duration and slot count, daily backups and DDoS protection claimed. | Confirm currency, tax, location, renewal amount and whether the backup and protection terms apply to the selected configuration. |
| Host Havoc | $20.00 per month starting price | TCAdmin panel, file manager/FTP, Workshop installer, log viewer and offsite backups; the provider lists Xeon/Ryzen CPUs, DDR4/DDR5 memory and NVMe storage. | The published excerpt does not state a directly comparable slot tier or an explicit hardware allocation at that price. Billing term and add-ons affect the total. |
| PingPerfect | 10 slots: $16.33 per month 20 slots: $34.67 per month 40 slots: $67.78 per month |
Advertises 9 GB RAM and about 100 GB NVMe for the 10-slot configuration, hardware tiers, locations, DDoS mitigation and nightly backups. | Confirm that the listed RAM, storage, locations and protection apply to the exact region and plan selected. |
On the published numbers alone, Nitrado has the lowest checked 10-slot figure, by $0.14 compared with PingPerfect. That difference is too small to outweigh a worse location, weaker controls or a higher tax and renewal total. Host Havoc’s starting price cannot be compared perfectly because the cited listing does not identify an equivalent slot tier.
How to compare plans without being misled by the headline price
1. Match simultaneous players to slots
Count the largest normal session, including occasional guests, and leave modest headroom. Buying 40 slots for a group that never exceeds ten can waste money; buying ten when a popular event reaches 14 forces players out or requires an upgrade. Slot labels are not performance guarantees, so use them as a capacity and billing measure, then examine resources and scenario complexity.

2. Put the server near the majority of players
Choose a listed data-center region that minimizes the distance for most of your group. If players are split across continents, favor the region that gives the largest group acceptable latency rather than optimizing for one person. Provider location selectors are useful for choosing a region, but any latency numbers shown there are provider displays, not independent measurements. After deployment, have players check their in-game ping at the same time of day they normally play.
3. Treat CPU and memory as mission-dependent
Arma 3 performance is sensitive to mission scripting, AI count, view distance and mod behavior. A provider’s minimum technical requirement is a baseline for starting the server, not a promise of stable frame times or a particular player load. Compare the stated CPU class or allocation, RAM, storage type and whether resources are dedicated or shared. Fast NVMe storage helps file operations and startup, but it does not compensate for an overloaded CPU.
4. Check the complete mod workflow
For a vanilla group, a simple control panel may be enough. A modded unit needs reliable Workshop or mod installation, the ability to upload and edit configuration files, access to server logs, and a predictable restart process after updates. Confirm whether the panel can preserve a known-good mod list and whether you can remove a broken update without rebuilding the server.
5. Evaluate backups and protection as operational features
“Daily” or “nightly” backups describe frequency, not necessarily retention or restoration speed. Find out how many copies are kept, whether saves and configuration files are included, and whether restoration is self-service. DDoS mitigation is a vendor-described feature; it should not be treated as an independently audited uptime or attack-capacity guarantee.

6. Compare the checkout total, not the banner
Use the same slot count and billing period for every candidate. Add taxes, paid locations, extra storage, priority support and mod-related add-ons. Check whether a monthly price is promotional, whether a longer term is required, and what renewal costs after the first period. Save a screenshot or receipt showing the term and inclusions so an apparent bargain can be checked later.
Which of the published options fits different groups?
Nitrado: lowest checked 10-slot headline price
Nitrado is the clearest fit when your priority is a small server and the 10-slot, 30-day listing is available at your checkout price. Its page advertises multiple locations, configurable duration and slot count, mod/plugin installation, daily backups and DDoS protection. Verify the region and currency: the cited US-language page shows dollar amounts, while another locale lists euro and pound prices. The final total and included features can differ by locale.
PingPerfect: more published resource detail
PingPerfect exposes several slot tiers and advertises hardware tiers, locations, DDoS mitigation and nightly backups. Its 10-slot listing states approximately 9 GB of RAM and 100 GB of NVMe, which makes the resource claim easier to evaluate than a plan that gives only a slot number. Confirm that those resources are allocated to your chosen configuration and that a larger plan does not change the terms or add-ons.

Host Havoc’s listing emphasizes a TCAdmin control panel, file manager and FTP access, Workshop installation, log viewing and offsite backups. It also describes Xeon and Ryzen processors, DDR4/DDR5 memory and NVMe storage. Because the published starting price does not specify a matching slot tier or explicit allocation, ask support for the exact slots, CPU share, RAM and storage attached to the quote you will buy.

A practical buying procedure
- Write down your actual peak. Record the largest simultaneous session in the last few months and the number of mods used in a typical mission.
- Set a hard monthly ceiling. Include tax, renewal and any paid location, storage or backup options.
- Shortlist two or three regions. Select the location closest to the largest player cluster, then keep one alternative if routing is poor.
- Match slots across providers. Compare 10 with 10 or 20 with 20; do not compare a low-slot plan with a larger plan and call the former cheaper per player.
- Open the resource and feature details. Record CPU description, RAM, storage, mod installation method, file access, logs, backups and DDoS terms in a small checklist.
- Calculate the first and recurring totals. Include the billed term, taxes, add-ons and renewal price, not just the introductory figure.
- Deploy a test mission. Install the intended mod set, run the heaviest normal scenario and inspect server logs before inviting the whole group.
- Keep a recovery copy. Download mission files and critical configuration outside the provider panel even when backups are advertised.
When self-hosting is cheaper
Self-hosting can avoid a recurring subscription if you already have suitable hardware and a reliable internet connection. It is not automatically cheaper: electricity, a public IP, maintenance time, operating-system updates, troubleshooting and the value of your own downtime all count. Paid compute still has to be compared with the hosted monthly total.
Bohemia’s official FAQ distinguishes a standard listen server from dedicated servers. The community dedicated-server documentation lists Windows Server 2008 or later or a modern Linux distribution, with a 2.4 GHz dual-core CPU, 2 GB RAM and a 32 GB hard drive as minimums. Its recommended baseline is a 3.5 GHz quad-core CPU, 4 GB RAM and a 32 GB SSD. These are documentation requirements, not guarantees for a particular modded mission or player count.
The same guide states that an Arma 3 server does not support IPv6 or DS-Lite IPv4 delivered through an IPv6 tunnel; a real IPv4 connection is required. A household connection that is behind carrier-grade NAT or lacks a usable public IPv4 address can therefore block direct hosting even if the computer meets the hardware baseline. Do not confuse Steam’s requirements for running the game client with requirements for a dedicated server.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteSelf-hosting checklist
- Use the documented operating-system family and keep it patched.
- Meet or exceed the CPU, RAM and storage baseline; plan extra capacity for mods, logs and backups.
- Confirm a real, reachable IPv4 address rather than IPv6-only or DS-Lite service.
- Configure the router and host firewall for the server’s required traffic, then test from outside your home network.
- Keep the server files, mission data and mod versions backed up separately.
- Schedule restarts and monitor logs so a failed mission or update does not silently leave the server unavailable.
For a group without an always-on computer, public IPv4 service or someone willing to maintain the machine, a low-cost managed plan is usually the more predictable choice even when its subscription total is not the absolute minimum.

Common problems after purchase
Players report high ping
Check whether the selected region is actually close to most players, then compare pings at the normal play time. If only one player is affected, investigate that player’s route or local connection. If everyone is affected, ask the host to verify routing and move the instance to another listed location if available.
The server is full despite a “large” plan
Verify the slot setting in the panel and the mission’s configured player count. A scenario can also reserve slots for headless clients or administrators. Increase the slot count only after checking that the plan’s CPU and memory scale with the extra players.
Mods fail to load
Compare the server’s mod list and versions with every player’s list, inspect the server log, and remove the newest update to isolate the failure. Use the provider’s Workshop installer or file access consistently rather than mixing manual uploads and panel-managed files without a record.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
A restart erased changes
Check whether edits were made to a generated configuration file, a temporary profile or the persistent server profile. Restore the last known-good backup, document the correct file path and make one controlled change at a time.
The advertised total is higher at checkout
Look for tax, currency conversion, a longer minimum term, paid location selection, automatic add-ons or a different renewal rate. If the final recurring total exceeds your ceiling, cancel before payment and compare a same-slot plan from another region or provider.
Quick Recap
Bottom line
For the small plans checked on October 13, 2026, the published 10-slot prices cluster around $16 to $20 per month, with Nitrado’s $16.19-for-30-days listing the lowest of those examples and PingPerfect close behind at $16.33 per month. That narrow price gap makes location, resources, mod controls, backups and the recurring checkout total more important than the banner price. Choose the cheapest plan that passes those checks for your actual scenario; if you already own suitable hardware and have real IPv4 connectivity, compare the full cost and maintenance burden of self-hosting before subscribing.
