Cheap Video Doorbell Cameras: 5 Models to Compare Before You Buy

There is no verified, apples-to-apples ranking here, but five models illustrate the trade-offs behind a budget video doorbell: upfront price, power, saved-video access, storage and app requirements. The lowest device price may not be the lowest long-term cost if the recordings or alerts you want require a subscription.

Compare the costs and trade-offs

Model Power and recording Price evidence Important qualification
Wyze Video Doorbell v2 Wired; manufacturer lists local microSD storage. $59.98 starting price on Wyze’s product page, accessed October 7, 2026. Some features require Cam Plus or Cam Protect; the price does not mean every function is subscription-free. Wyze product page and Wyze comparison chart.
eufy Video Doorbell C210 Battery-powered, with battery and wired modes described in eufy’s guide. $99.99 in eufy’s 2026 guide; this is a guide snapshot, not a guaranteed current price. Check the model’s installation requirements and current listing before buying. eufy’s 2026 guide.
Ring Wired Doorbell 2K (2nd Gen) Wired; live viewing and answering notifications are available without a subscription, according to Ring. Not stated in the cited Ring pages. Ring says saving and replaying video requires a Ring Protect subscription, making recurring cost central to the comparison. Ring product page.
Google Nest Video Doorbell (Battery) Requires the Google Home app and a free Google Account. Not stated in the cited Google page. Some additional notification features require Nest Aware. Confirm current recording history and price before treating it as a budget option. Google product page.
Blink Battery Doorbell 2K+ Tom’s Guide’s 2026 roundup describes local storage with a Sync Module and microSD card. Not stated in the cited roundup. Confirm the current model, price and whether the required hardware is included; local storage may involve added equipment. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 roundup.

These are candidates to compare, not a tested top-five ranking. Consumer Reports also maintains a subscription-free doorbell roundup, updated August 7, 2026, that can help identify alternatives and models with ongoing plan requirements: Consumer Reports’ subscription-free doorbell comparison.

Work out what you need to save

Before comparing sticker prices, decide whether you need only live viewing or want saved clips to review later. Ring’s stated no-subscription access covers live viewing and answering notifications, not saved video or photos. Wyze lists microSD storage for the v2, but notes that some features require Cam Plus or Cam Protect. Compare the specific functions you intend to use against the relevant plan terms rather than assuming a low purchase price includes them.

Check the full local-storage setup

Local recording can avoid relying entirely on cloud storage, but the setup differs. Wyze identifies microSD storage for the Video Doorbell v2. The Blink roundup describes local storage through a Sync Module and card; it does not establish whether those items are included in every current package. Verify the supported card requirements and package contents for the exact model before budgeting.

Match power and installation to your home

Battery power

A battery model can suit a doorway without usable doorbell wiring, while eufy’s guide says the C210 can also operate in wired mode. Battery operation avoids depending on existing wiring, but check the manufacturer’s installation directions and how the chosen configuration affects your setup.

Wired power

A wired doorbell is only a straightforward option if your home’s wiring and chime meet that model’s requirements. Wyze’s comparison chart provides model-level power distinctions; consult the exact model documentation rather than assuming that existing wiring is compatible. Do this check before purchase to avoid choosing a doorbell that cannot be installed as intended.

Compare more than resolution

A higher resolution label alone does not establish better value. Use the model-specific specifications to check field of view, detection features, recording access, power, installation and smart-home compatibility. Wyze’s comparison chart distinguishes specifications and integrations across its models. For Google Nest, account for the required Google Home app and account, as well as the extra notification features tied to Nest Aware. Use the same checklist for each candidate so that a resolution figure does not obscure a limitation that matters more in daily use.

A practical shortlist decision

  1. Set your recording requirement: Decide whether live viewing is enough or whether you need saved, replayable clips.
  2. Check ongoing fees: Identify which alerts and recording features require a plan, and include any recurring fee in your ownership cost.
  3. Confirm power and compatibility: Choose battery or wired operation based on your doorway, then verify the exact wiring and chime requirements.
  4. Account for storage hardware: Confirm whether a card, module or other required component is supported and included.
  5. Recheck the current listing: The available price snapshots are $59.98 for Wyze v2 (Wyze product page accessed October 7, 2026) and $99.99 for eufy C210 (eufy’s 2026 guide). Verify current price, model and package contents before ordering.
