Chandler Riggs, best known for playing Carl Grimes on The Walking Dead, made a roughly 20-minute fan film based on the garage fight in Resident Evil 7 biohazard. In an October 12, 2026 report attributed to an IGN interview, Riggs plays Ethan Winters opposite Jason Douglas as Jack Baker; the film was scheduled to appear online October 14. Those are pre-release details, so its runtime and availability should be confirmed against the released version.
What Chandler Riggs’s Resident Evil 7 fan film is about
The reported project, titled BIOHAZARD, adapts one sequence: Ethan Winters’s garage fight with Jack Baker. It is a short fan-made scene adaptation, not a full retelling of Resident Evil 7 and not an official Capcom film. The October 12 report gave an approximate 20-minute runtime and said the film was scheduled for online release October 14, 2026. The report, attributed to an IGN interview, is the basis for those project details; the finished film’s release and final runtime were not established in that account.

Cast and Riggs’s choice to show Ethan
Riggs is reported to play Ethan, with Jason Douglas playing Jack. Mary Rachel Quinn, Eugenie Bonderant, Johnathan O’Niel and Sam Coyles are also named in the report. AMC identifies Riggs as the actor who played Carl on The Walking Dead.
The game presents its events through an immersive first-person perspective. Riggs said he considered filming entirely in first person or keeping Ethan’s face out of view, but chose to show him so the story could reach people beyond players familiar with the game. He called that a significant departure while saying the production aimed to stay faithful to the game in other respects. That describes his intent, not an independent assessment of the unreleased film.

Why adapt the garage fight?
Resident Evil 7 biohazard is a survival-horror game built around fear, exploration and tense atmosphere, according to Capcom’s 2016 announcement. The garage confrontation gives a short film a focused conflict and recognizable setting without requiring it to retell the full game. The format difference matters: the reported adaptation is a brief, scripted scene, while the game lets players experience its horror through interactive play.
Riggs said he wanted to make a live-action adaptation that felt true to the game, and that a desire to work on set and collaborate helped motivate him to make the project himself. He also said he was looking forward to the planned Resident Evil movie from filmmaker Zach Cregger and would be open to working in that universe. His enthusiasm does not make this fan film part of that movie or an official franchise production.

The game’s original release context
Capcom’s June 14, 2016 announcement listed PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC as launch platforms. Those are the platforms named in that original announcement, not a complete statement of the game’s current platform availability. The same announcement said the Resident Evil series had reached 68 million cumulative unit sales since the first game debuted in 1996; that is a franchise-wide figure published in 2016, not sales for Resident Evil 7.
The project details remain attributable to a single October 12, 2026 secondary republication of an interview. Its quoted comments are presented there as Riggs’s words; they have not been independently checked against a recording. Readers should treat the release timing and runtime as reported rather than confirmed until the film itself is available.
