That monthly growth rate was below Punjab’s 18% and Delhi’s 12%. Across April to September, however, Chandigarh’s 3.4% cumulative growth was slightly ahead of Delhi’s 2.7%, though well below Punjab’s 9.7%.
What Chandigarh collected in September
The Government of India’s GST revenue report, published on October 1, 2026, lists Chandigarh’s September 2026 GST revenue at ₹238 crore, compared with ₹229 crore in September 2025. The year-on-year increase was 4%. The state-wise revenue figures exclude GST on imports of goods, as the report’s table footnote specifies.

How Chandigarh compares with Punjab and Delhi
The September figures show the collection amount as well as the year-on-year growth rate. The cumulative figures cover the six-month period from April through September 2026.

For September alone, Chandigarh had the lowest growth rate of the three. Over the full April–September period, Chandigarh still trailed Punjab, but its cumulative growth was 0.7 percentage points higher than Delhi’s.
Why the monthly growth slowed
The available figures do not establish why Chandigarh’s growth eased. The Government of India’s release is a statistical report and gives no explanation attributing the change to economic activity, compliance, refunds, tax rates or any particular sector. Those causes should not be inferred from the growth rates alone.

A2Z Taxcorp LLP reported that Chandigarh’s monthly year-on-year growth moved from 12% in July to 8% in August and 4% in September 2026. That provides a reported three-month trend; the official October 1 release independently confirms the September figure. The trend by itself does not explain the decline.

The report also presents pre-settlement SGST and post-settlement SGST as separate measures. For Chandigarh, pre-settlement SGST rose 22% to ₹67 crore in September, while post-settlement SGST rose 17% to ₹211 crore. Post-settlement SGST includes the state or union territory’s share of settled IGST.

These settlement figures are not interchangeable with the 4% growth rate in the report’s separate state-wise GST revenue table. They describe different measures, so the settlement percentages should not be used as alternative readings of Chandigarh’s September GST revenue growth.

India’s gross GST revenue was ₹2,03,521 crore in September 2026, up 14.7% year on year. Gross domestic GST revenue was ₹1,37,996 crore, up 10.1%. These national figures provide context, but they do not explain Chandigarh’s result or make the jurisdiction-level comparison like-for-like.
