Yes. CD PROJEKT RED lists AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D as one of two CPU options for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered Path Tracing configuration. The other is Intel’s Core i9-13900K. The requirement describes a complete target system—not a CPU-only guarantee—with an RTX 5080, 24 GB of system memory, 16 GB of VRAM and a 60 GB SSD. CDPR’s target is 2160p at 60 FPS with DLSS and Frame Generation enabled.
The Path Tracing CPU requirement
For its highest PC graphics tier, CD PROJEKT RED names either an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D or an Intel Core i9-13900K. That makes the 9800X3D an official option, not the sole required processor.

The listing is a configuration target for the complete game-and-hardware setup. It does not establish that the processor alone will deliver 60 FPS, nor does it represent an independent benchmark of the released remaster.

These figures come from CDPR’s published requirements table, transcribed by PC Gamer on September 29, 2026. They are configuration targets rather than a promise for every scene or system.
#1 Best Overall
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Drop-in ready for proven Socket AM5 infrastructure
- Cooler not included
What the 60 FPS figure actually means
CDPR says its expected FPS figures come from internal quality-assurance testing and can change with the scene, gameplay, graphics settings, output resolution and the rest of the system. For the Path Tracing tier specifically, the measurement used upscaling and Frame Generation switched on. In other words, the stated 2160p/60 target assumes DLSS and generated frames; it is not a native-rendering, CPU-only performance claim.
Frame Generation increases displayed frame rate by creating additional frames. It does not remove the underlying GPU workload, so the RTX 5080 is a central part of this target. The processor choice matters to the overall system, but the table provides no independent comparison showing whether the 9800X3D is faster than the i9-13900K in this game.
Rank #2
- Processor provides dependable and fast execution of tasks with maximum efficiency.Graphics Frequency : 2200 MHZ.Number of CPU Cores : 8. Maximum Operating Temperature (Tjmax) : 89°C.
- Ryzen 7 product line processor for better usability and increased efficiency
- 5 nm process technology for reliable performance with maximum productivity
- Octa-core (8 Core) processor core allows multitasking with great reliability and fast processing speed
- 8 MB L2 plus 96 MB L3 cache memory provides excellent hit rate in short access time enabling improved system performance
Can a Ryzen 7 9800X3D run Path Tracing?
It meets one of CDPR’s two named CPU choices when paired with the rest of the listed configuration. To aim for the published target, a build also needs an RTX 5080-class GPU, at least 24 GB of system RAM, 16 GB of VRAM and an SSD with 60 GB available, while using DLSS and Frame Generation.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- A 9800X3D with a substantially weaker graphics card is not the configuration CDPR tested.
- An RTX 5080 does not by itself guarantee 60 FPS if the CPU, memory, settings or resolution differ.
- Actual results can vary by location, combat, traversal and other scene-specific workloads.
What changed in The Witcher 3 Remastered
The remaster launched on September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED describes it as a free upgrade for existing owners on qualifying platforms and says it is also sold through Battle.net and the Microsoft Store as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. The release includes Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, including for players who previously owned only the base game.
Rank #3
- The world’s fastest gaming processor, built on AMD ‘Zen5’ technology and Next Gen 3D V-Cache.
- 8 cores and 16 threads, delivering +~16% IPC uplift and great power efficiency
- 96MB L3 cache with better thermal performance vs. previous gen and allowing higher clock speeds, up to 5.2GHz
- Ready for Advanced AI PC: Designed for the future of AI computing, with the power and connectivity needed for demanding AI applications
- AMD AM5 Socket: Ready for AMD Socket AM5 for AMD Ryzen 9000 & 8000 & 7000 Series Desktop Processors
The release also lists enhanced visuals and performance, improved combat, a reworked skill system, overhauled animations, cross-platform mod support, PC Path Tracing and PS5 Pro support. The original Complete Edition is replaced on supported platforms. A paid expansion, Songs of the Past, is planned for 2027.
How to interpret the hardware list when planning a build
Choose the CPU as part of the target
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Core i9-13900K are alternatives in the same published row. CDPR supplies no results for ranking them against each other, so the requirements table cannot justify declaring one the faster choice for this remaster.
Rank #4
- AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Gaming and Content Creation Processor
- Max. Boost Clock : Up to 5.7 GHz; Base Clock: 4.3 GHz
- Form Factor: Desktops , Boxed Processor
- Architecture: Zen 5; Former Codename: Granite Ridge AM5
Budget for the GPU first
Path Tracing’s listed graphics card is the GeForce RTX 5080. Because the target uses 4K output, DLSS and Frame Generation, changing the GPU or disabling those features changes the performance conditions represented by the 60 FPS figure.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Match memory and storage
The specification calls for 24 GB of system RAM, 16 GB of VRAM and 60 GB of SSD capacity. Those are parts of the same target, not optional figures that can be separated from the CPU and GPU assumptions.
Best Value
- AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D Desktop Processor
Bottom line for prospective players
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D is officially supported as a Path Tracing-tier CPU option for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered. Treat the published 2160p/60 FPS number as CDPR’s QA-based target with DLSS and Frame Generation on, paired with an RTX 5080 and the listed memory and storage. It is useful for planning a complete system, but it is not an independent benchmark or a guarantee of 60 FPS in every scene.
