What is Cattle Country?
Developed by Castle Pixel and published by Playtonic Friends, Cattle Country launched on May 27, 2025. Playtonic describes it as a cozy cowboy adventure life sim built around activities such as farming, fishing, crafting, mining, ranching, and relationships, with bandits and robberies also part of its frontier setting. The US PlayStation Store lists a PS5 edition.

What does the Bandits & Bounties update add?
The update brings outlaw encounters into the routine of life on the frontier. Players can take on wanted bandits, discover camps while exploring, and get caught up in trouble at local businesses.

Bounties, camps, and shootouts
- Bounty hunting: Collect wanted posters at the Sheriff’s building, track a target into the wilderness, then return to Sheriff Tom for a reward.
- Overworld bandit camps: Camps can appear as you explore, creating encounters away from town.
- Business robberies and shootouts: Random incidents can occur at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter, and Bank.
Tools and inventory
- Toolbelt: Craft while away from a crafting table.
- Extra Large Bag: Expand inventory capacity to four rows.
- Animal Trap: Gather animal resources.
- Rock Tumbler: Break down rocks and potentially uncover rare gems.
- Tailoring Table: Make clothes and hats.
Clothing and fishing
New customization includes outfits, hats, head accessories, and red hair. A boat at the docks can take players to a special fishing spot on Tuesdays and Saturdays; fish from every season can be caught there.
Dialogue and fixes
Playtonic also lists expanded NPC dialogue and fixes addressing controller crafting and cooking issues, skin-color display, a crash in a French-language scene, animal-resource collection, seasonal invitation mail, and building upgrades being removed incorrectly. These are examples from a broader set of fixes and improvements, not a claim that every previous bug is resolved.

What changes for PS5 players?
Playtonic’s dated announcement identifies Bandits & Bounties as out on console, so the update is not just a PC announcement. Its additions extend the existing mix of farming, crafting, mining, fishing, and social activities with more unpredictable outlaw encounters and practical ways to gather, craft, and customize.
