The Bandits & Bounties update for Cattle Country is out on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Playtonic announced the console release on October 5, 2026. Steam players had it earlier, since the update was announced as live there on August 24. The update’s main addition is a bounty-hunting loop, along with random robberies, new crafting gear, clothing options and fishing changes.

Bounty hunting and robberies
Bounty hunting is the headline feature. The loop works like this:

- Find the Wanted Posters at the Sheriff’s building and take a bounty.
- Head into the wilderness and track down the wanted bandit.
- Return to Sheriff Tom for your reward.
Playtonic’s own announcement puts it this way: “Pick up a bounty and head out into the wilderness to track down the wanted bandit.”

Bandit camps can now appear while you explore the overworld. Random robberies and shootouts can also break out at the General Store, Butcher, Carpenter or Bank, so trouble can show up in town as well as in the wild.
Crafting, inventory and customization
- Toolbelt: lets you craft away from a crafting table.
- Extra Large Bag: expands the inventory to four rows.
- New homestead equipment: an Animal Trap, a Rock Tumbler and a Tailoring Table.
- Clothing: you can make clothes and hats, and there are new outfits and head accessories.
- Hair: red hair is now an option.
Fishing and smaller changes
Players can take a boat from the docks on Tuesdays and Saturdays to a special fishing destination, which has fish from every season. The publisher also says fishing is more forgiving while a fishing buff is active. These are the publisher’s descriptions of the features, not independent test results.

Other changes include more NPC dialogue, inventory counts that go above 9,999, and birds that sway with tree branches.

About the game
Cattle Country launched on May 27, 2025. It is a single-player Western farming and life sim developed by Castle Pixel and published by Playtonic Friends. Its official description calls it a cozy Western life sim that combines farming, mining, fishing, crafting, romance, cattle drives and bandit-related adventure. It is available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox.
Playtonic’s game page also offers physical editions for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5, and the update is now live on both consoles. Check stock and the exact edition with your retailer before buying.
