Yes—Castr supports both scheduled prerecorded broadcasts and continuous playout, so it can technically run a pre-recorded music channel on YouTube. The key qualifications are that the plan must fit your stream, storage and audience-delivery needs, and Castr does not provide music rights or guarantee YouTube monetization. Those remain your responsibility.
What Castr can do for a pre-recorded music channel
Castr describes two workflows that may suit a YouTube music channel. Its prerecorded-live workflow lets you upload a finished video, set a start time and broadcast it as a live stream to YouTube or other destinations. Its feature list also includes video playlists, scheduling and loop mode for continuous playout. Castr’s feature overview describes these capabilities.

Scheduled prerecorded broadcast
This is the closer fit if you want to prepare individual programs and have each begin at a particular time. Castr says prerecorded video can be sent live to YouTube. Before relying on it for a recurring schedule, confirm the current plan’s file limits, playlist behavior and how schedule edits or gaps are handled.

For a channel intended to run around the clock, check Castr’s separate 24/7 TV playout workflow. Castr describes a channel that plays recorded media into a Castr livestream and can then distribute it to social destinations, RTMP/SRT endpoints, an embedded player or OTT apps. Continuous playout does not mean unlimited video storage or unlimited audience delivery: those depend on plan allocations.

Connecting Castr to YouTube
Castr’s YouTube setup guidance, published May 19, 2023, describes connecting through a YouTube API authorization or setting up the stream manually with YouTube’s server URL and stream key. With the manual stream-key method, Castr’s guide says to edit the stream description in YouTube’s dashboard. Interface labels may have changed since that article, so follow the current YouTube and Castr screens when configuring a channel. Castr’s YouTube setup guide.
- Choose the workflow. Use scheduled prerecorded live for individual programs; assess the 24/7 playout feature for a continuous channel.
- Authorize or configure YouTube. Use the supported account connection, or enter YouTube’s current stream server and stream key in Castr if setting up manually. Treat the key as a password: do not share it or publish it.
- Set up the program and destinations. Add the finished video or playlist, set its schedule or loop behavior, and select the YouTube destination. If you also need a website player or another destination, check the plan’s destination allowance.
- Verify the live output. Confirm the stream appears correctly in YouTube and that its title, description and visibility are set as intended before leaving a long-running schedule unattended.

Castr’s published comparison lists the following prices and limits. These are vendor-published figures, not independently tested results; plan details and prices can change, so check the live Castr pricing page before purchasing. Annual equivalents below are billed yearly, and Castr describes an annual bandwidth pool rather than a monthly allocation for annual billing.

Castr lists a seven-day trial for Starter, not for every plan. Its pricing page also states a 99.9% uptime SLA; that is Castr’s vendor-stated SLA, not an independently measured uptime result.

How to select a plan for a music channel
- Concurrent streams: Match the limit to how many outputs you will run at once; the published comparison shows different monthly and annual allowances on some tiers.
- Audience bandwidth: Estimate delivery consumption for your expected viewers and video quality, then compare it with the monthly allocation or annual pool. A 24/7 stream can consume bandwidth continuously.
- Video storage: Compare your actual library size with the listed storage. A playlist that runs continuously still relies on stored media and plan limits.
- Destinations and add-ons: Count YouTube and any additional outputs you need. Features such as HLS URLs, API access and failover appear on particular tiers in the published comparison.
- Playout details: If the public comparison does not specify the scheduled-playout allowances you need, ask Castr to confirm file, playlist, scheduling and gap-handling limits for your intended channel.
Music rights and YouTube interruptions
Castr provides a technical path to broadcast; it does not grant a license to the music in your videos. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and obtain the permissions needed for your specific recordings, compositions, territories and use before scheduling a stream.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. Its guidance says streams may be temporarily interrupted or terminated when such content is detected. Even licensed third-party content may require the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s guidance on live-stream copyright. A license alone therefore may not prevent an interruption if the relevant platform permissions have not been arranged.
Can a Castr music stream earn YouTube monetization?
Using Castr to make a video appear live does not establish that a channel qualifies for monetization. YouTube’s reused-content review applies at the channel level, separately from whether a stream can be delivered technically. The policy page’s July 15, 2025 notice renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and said the reused-content policy did not change. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies and assess your original contribution, rights and overall channel content against the current rules. Neither a Castr plan nor a successful live connection guarantees approval.

Verdict
Castr is a plausible fit if you need scheduled prerecorded broadcasts or a configurable continuous playout channel and its current capacity limits suit your library, destinations and audience. Treat plan fit, music rights, Content ID permissions and YouTube monetization eligibility as separate checks; the service’s ability to deliver a stream does not settle those questions.
