The fastest practical route through Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is an ability-gated loop, not a straight sprint from one boss room to the next. Follow the city and sewer opening, clear the Holy Innocents’ Cemetery and Prison Tower branches before entering the Catacombs, then move through Justice District into Dracula’s Castle. Inside the castle, progress through the Observation Tower, Library, Clock Tower and Circle of Greed before taking the Hall of Mirrors route to Notre-Dame. The shadow encounter in Notre-Dame grants Double Jump, which opens the upper clock route and the final approach to Dracula.
Current walkthroughs describe this as the quickest practical progression, not a measured world-record speedrun. The game offers limited fast travel, so activating shortcuts, recording blocked passages and revisiting them only after the relevant ability is essential.

How to read the map without wasting crossings
Explored rooms appear as connected outlines, and the map provides 50 markers. Spend those markers on future decisions rather than ordinary treasure. Mark every cracked floor, unreachable ledge, locked painting, whip anchor and room that visibly demands an ability you do not yet have.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Cracked floor: return after acquiring Smash.
- Long horizontal gap or high ledge: check it after Aerial Rush or Double Jump.
- Circular anchor: Rose swings around it; note the gap and the landing side.
- Diamond anchor: Rose is pulled toward the anchor, enabling a different line than a circular anchor.
- Locked or inert painting: leave it marked until the castle’s later Arcana makes the main-hall painting interactive.
Write a short note beside each marker, such as “reservoir upper grate” or “clock tower cracked floor.” GamesRadar+’s 2026 review described the game as having a large map, many Mirror of Life save points and limited fast travel; the reviewer also wrote, “Belmont’s Curse gave me so many cryptic clues, so many patterns to remember, so many intriguing characters or key items hidden away in places, that placing markers upon the map was simply not enough.” A written route list prevents a marker from becoming an unexplained dot after a long session.
Paris Streets to the Abandoned Sewers
Follow the opening descent
Paris Streets teaches Rose Belmont’s movement and funnels her downward into the Abandoned Sewers. Continue to the Central Sewer Drain, then inspect the map near the mirror. The Sewer Reservoir mirror and the nearby cart are useful landmarks: they identify the branch that must be revisited after the first boss.
Set up the boss shortcut before The Fallen
- Reach the large sewer arch on the approach to The Fallen.
- Activate the pulley beside the arch before entering the boss fight.
- Use the Mirror of Life to save if it is available, then begin the encounter.
If The Fallen defeats Rose, the pulley removes the long return walk. Activating it before the fight is one of the highest-value time saves in the opening chapter.

Return for the Arcane Whip and Cestus
Defeating The Fallen grants the Arcane Whip. It is both a traversal tool and the first major route gate: Rose can grapple to whip anchors and reach platforms that were deliberately out of reach on the first descent.
- Return to the Sewer Reservoir rather than pushing blindly into a new branch.
- Use the whip to grapple to the upper grate or platform.
- Trigger the hidden Anchor.
- Open the large chest to obtain the Cestus.
The circular and diamond anchor types behave differently, so record both when first seen. This single cleanup loop is faster than repeatedly stopping in later areas to test every early sewer ledge.
Holy Innocents’ Cemetery and Prison Tower
Use the hanging sign as the branch decision
At the hanging direction sign, take both directions before opening the Catacombs route. Left leads to Holy Innocents’ Cemetery; right leads to Prison Tower. Treat these as one combined chapter rather than two optional detours.

Clear the cemetery branch
Explore the cemetery until its current objectives, keys and upgrades are resolved. Mark any room whose entrance is visibly blocked by a movement requirement, but do not spend time forcing it. The efficient pattern is to finish the accessible branch, save, and leave with a clear note for the later ability sweep.
Clear Prison Tower next
Return to the sign and take the Prison Tower branch. Completing both sides before the Catacombs means the required keys and upgrades are gathered in one pass, avoiding repeated crossings through the sign area. If a ledge or door remains inaccessible, mark it and continue; the route is designed around later movement powers.
Catacombs of Paris to Justice District
Enter the Catacombs after both city branches
Once Cemetery and Prison Tower are complete, open the Catacombs route. The complete walkthrough places the Catacombs after Prison Tower, not before it. This order minimizes return trips for keys and upgrades.
Continue directly to Justice District
Finish the catacomb path and proceed to Justice District. Justice District sits immediately before the castle approach in the practical progression. Resist the temptation to return to every earlier marked room: the Arcane Whip is useful, but later powers provide much larger route changes.
Entering Dracula’s Castle
Use the main hall as a hub
After Justice District, enter Dracula’s Castle main hall. The castle’s branches are connected internally, so make the main hall your navigation hub instead of repeatedly walking back into Paris. Save at a Mirror of Life when convenient and keep your map markers grouped by branch.
Leave the painting until its Arcana is available
A later Arcana makes the main-hall painting interactive. If the painting is inert on your first visit, mark it and continue; returning early only creates an avoidable crossing. The same rule applies to any castle door or object that gives no interaction prompt.

Observation Tower, Library and Clock Tower
Take the Observation Tower first
The route guide places Observation Tower before the Library and Clock Tower. Advance through its accessible rooms, activating any shortcut that links back to the main hall. These connections matter because the castle’s vertical branches can otherwise turn a single missed room into a long round trip.
Visit the Library for Aerial Rush
The Library grants Aerial Rush, an air-dash movement ability for long gaps and elevated passages. Once acquired, immediately check nearby marked gaps, then keep the remaining markers for the larger return sweep after Double Jump.
Reach the Clock Tower for Smash
The Clock Tower contains Smash, which breaks cracked floors and opens lower or upper route connections. Look for cracked surfaces you deliberately marked in the city, sewers and castle. Smash is a route-opening tool, not merely a combat upgrade, so obtaining it before exhaustive cleanup is faster.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThe route order places both the Library and Clock Tower after Observation Tower, while the movement gates are identified as Smash in the Clock Tower and Aerial Rush in the Library. If your local map presents a slightly different room label, follow the connected branch that reaches those abilities rather than relying on spelling.
Circle of Greed and the late castle route
Complete the eye-and-door sequence
Proceed to Circle of Greed after the Observation Tower, Library and Clock Tower work. Complete the eye and door sequence in full before moving to the mirror route. Leaving one eye or door unresolved can look like a route failure when the issue is simply an incomplete sequence.
Perform the first major ability sweep
After Smash and Aerial Rush are in hand, revisit only the marked rooms that those powers clearly solve. Use the shortest connected path from the castle main hall, clear the newly opened rooms, and return to the hub. Do not turn this into a full map-completion attempt; Double Jump will create another, more valuable vertical sweep.

Hall of Mirrors to Notre-Dame
Follow the mirror chain for the true-ending route
The Hall of Mirrors chain is part of the true-ending path. Complete its linked objectives rather than treating it as a cosmetic side area. The Artist’s Arcana opens the Notre-Dame sequence, so a previously inactive route can become available only after this progression.

During the Notre-Dame sequence, the shadow encounter grants Double Jump. This is the late movement gate that changes the upper clock route and many earlier vertical rooms. Marked ledges that were impossible with the Arcane Whip, Smash or Aerial Rush can now be reached without detouring through unrelated branches.
Heart of the Clock and the final approach
With Double Jump, return through the upper clock route and finish Heart of the Clock. Activate any remaining shortcut before committing to the final encounters, then follow the connected path to Dracula. Save at the last available Mirror of Life and check that the marked rooms required for your chosen ending have been resolved.
Ability chain and what each power changes
| Ability | Acquired from | Primary route function | Best revisit targets |
|---|---|---|---|
| Arcane Whip | The Fallen | Grapples Rose to whip anchors and enables traversal across gaps. | Sewer Reservoir upper grate, hidden Anchor and later anchor crossings. |
| Smash | Clock Tower | Breaks cracked floors and opens lower or upper route connections. | Every marked cracked floor in the city, sewers and castle. |
| Aerial Rush | Library | Air-dashes across long gaps and reaches elevated passages. | Marked horizontal gaps and high ledges that lack a second-jump route. |
| Double Jump | Notre-Dame shadow encounter | Opens the upper clock route and other vertical revisits. | High ledges and upper rooms saved for the final sweep. |
Backtracking policy for the fastest practical run
- Mark first, test once. When a room clearly requires a missing ability, place a marker and move on.
- Finish the current branch. Do not bounce between Cemetery and Prison Tower for every visible pickup.
- Activate every obvious shortcut. The sewer pulley is mandatory preparation; castle and clock connections are equally valuable when available.
- Return after a meaningful power spike. Use the Arcane Whip for the sewer cleanup, Smash and Aerial Rush for the first broad sweep, and Double Jump for the final vertical sweep.
- Keep a written note. Record why a marker exists, because the map alone does not preserve the clue that created it.
Endings and how route choices affect them
The route guide identifies three ending gates. Pushing to the top of the Clock Tower too early reveals the bad ending and returns Rose to the last save. Defeating the final boss while Arcana are incomplete produces the normal ending. After Notre-Dame, completing the Hall of Mirrors chain points toward the true ending.
For the true ending, preserve your marked backtrack rooms and collect the required Arcana before the final push. Do not climb directly to the top of the Clock Tower merely because the route is open; that early climb is the trigger for the bad-ending branch.

Major encounters along the route
The complete walkthrough lists Medusa, Joan of Arc, Death, Carmilla, Talos, Mammon and Isaac among the major encounters, in addition to The Fallen and Dracula. Their placement can vary with the branch you are clearing, but the area order above remains the reliable navigation framework. Use each boss approach to activate a nearby shortcut before committing to the fight, as with the sewer pulley.

Release and platform context
Konami and Evil Empire’s release date was reported as 15 October 2026 by GamesRadar+ and KeenGamer. Current coverage lists Nintendo Switch among the platforms. A GamesRadar+ review by Serena Cherry in 2026 reported 23 hours on PS5 and reaching two of the three endings; that is a reviewer’s playtime, not a completion-time guarantee. The same review counted seven weapon families with four weapons each, while the map guide updated 14 October 2026 lists 50 map markers.
Common navigation mistakes and fixes
Leaving the sewer pulley inactive
Symptom: a defeat sends Rose back to a distant save and the boss door requires a long walk. Fix: reload or return to the large sewer arch and activate the pulley before the next attempt.
Trying to force every blocked room immediately
Symptom: repeated jumps, anchor tests and crossings produce no progress. Fix: mark the room with the suspected gate—Smash, Aerial Rush or Double Jump—and continue the current branch.
Entering the Catacombs before both city branches are done
Symptom: a later key or upgrade requires a return to the hanging sign. Fix: clear Holy Innocents’ Cemetery and Prison Tower in one pass before opening the Catacombs.
Returning to Paris after every castle room
Symptom: excessive loading and repeated crossings obscure the castle’s connected route. Fix: use Dracula’s Castle main hall and its internal branches as the hub.
Climbing the Clock Tower too early
Symptom: the bad ending appears and Rose returns to the last save. Fix: complete the Hall of Mirrors and Notre-Dame progression, secure Double Jump and resolve the required Arcana before the final climb.
