Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse reached an all-time Steam peak of 18,261 concurrent players on October 15, 2026, its launch day. That figure measures how many people were playing simultaneously on Steam; it is not a sales total, revenue figure or estimate of copies sold.
What the 18,261-player peak means
SteamDB recorded 18,261 players in-game at the same time on October 15, 2026. The measurement covers Steam only, not PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch players. It is a launch-window snapshot rather than a count of everyone who bought the game.

At the October 17 access point, SteamDB showed an 18,184-player 24-hour peak and 14,152 people in-game. Those figures are live and can change as more players start or leave the game. Because concurrent-player data does not reveal ownership, playtime or sales conversion, no reliable sales total can be calculated from 18,261.

Is Belmont’s Curse a roguelike?
No. The game’s connection to Dead Cells comes from its developers: Evil Empire and Motion Twin are associated with that series. However, KONAMI communications head Tommy Williams explicitly described Belmont’s Curse as a “2D Action-Exploration game” in which players can freely explore “vast, elaborately crafted maps.” He also said it “is not a roguelike or roguelite game.”
Rank #2
- Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse | Night One Edition includes: Main Game, Alucard Style Costume, Digital Sound & Art Gallery, Trevor Style Costume, Sypha Style Costume, and Family's Grace (Relic).
- Medieval Paris, Where the Tolling Bells Herald the End - 1499: Paris is engulfed in flames as monstrous creatures suddenly emerge from the shadows. Armed with the legendary holy whip, the Vampire Killer, Trevor Belmont’s successor ventures into the burning streets and the looming castle to hunt down the beasts. Can they save the city from the brink of destruction?
- Satisfying Whip Action - The iconic whip of the series is now more important than ever! Crack your whip to move around freely like a trapeze artist! Master the whip mechanics and be creative to pounce on your prey like a wolf in fast-paced combats!
- A Large Selection of Weapons and Abilities - The whip is not the only tool at your disposal. You will need to strategically plan your next move in combat and make full use of all the weapons and abilities to stand a chance!
- Environment Hazards That Will make you grit your teeth - Biomes are packed with secrets, traps and puzzles. It is not just about muscles, it's about brains too!
What that means while playing
- The structure centers on a connected, exploration-focused map rather than repeated randomized runs.
- Progress is built around moving through the world, fighting bosses and gaining Arcana abilities.
- Players should not assume that each attempt resets the world in the manner of a traditional roguelike or roguelite.
Who made and published it?
KONAMI is the publisher and one of the credited developers. Evil Empire and Motion Twin also worked on development. Steam’s store listing names KONAMI and Evil Empire as its developers, while KONAMI’s launch announcement describes the project as a joint effort involving all three studios.

Did Belmont’s Curse sell well?
The 18,261 Steam peak shows that the launch attracted a substantial simultaneous audience on that platform, but it does not prove how many copies were sold. No published sales, revenue or conversion figure establishes the game’s commercial performance. Players on consoles and Xbox PC are also absent from the Steam-only number, so a total across all platforms cannot be inferred.

- Separate Steam activity from players on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo platforms.
- Compare the underlying structure: free-form exploration versus randomized roguelike runs.
- Check edition contents, such as the Midnight Edition’s costumes, gallery and relic.
- Treat Steam player counts and store review percentages as time-sensitive measurements rather than permanent scores.
On the currently established figures, Belmont’s Curse opened with an 18,261-player Steam peak while presenting itself as a traditional, freely explorable 2D action-adventure rather than a roguelike.
