Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and Nintendo Switch. The opening-chapter demo is available, but its save transfers only to the full game on the same platform and account. Set in Paris in 1499, the single-player 2D action-exploration game follows Rose Belmont and brings back whip-based combat and traversal.
When does Belmont’s Curse come out, and what can I play it on?
Konami lists October 15, 2026, as the release date. Its product page links to versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam and Nintendo Switch. Nintendo’s US store listing gives the same date. Store pages and availability can vary by region, so check the storefront for your country for the current listing.

The game is described as single-player. The publisher’s platform information lists 60 frames per second for its general platform lineup and 30 fps for Nintendo Switch. These are publisher-listed figures, not independent tests or a promise that every configuration will sustain a given frame rate in every situation.
Is it coming to Switch 2?
Nintendo’s US listing says the Nintendo Switch release is supported on Nintendo Switch 2 and that its behavior is consistent with the Switch version. Nintendo does not present it there as a separate Switch 2 edition. If you are deciding which version to buy, treat it as the Switch release with listed Switch 2 support, rather than assuming there is a distinct upgraded edition.

What are the storage requirements?
Konami’s product page lists the following minimum required capacities for the full game. These are published requirements, not independently measured install sizes.

The Switch figures are worth checking against the live store page before installing: Nintendo’s US listing gives an estimated download size of 4.2 GB, while Konami lists 4 GB as the required capacity for the Switch Standard Edition. A download estimate and a stated capacity requirement are not necessarily the same measurement. Leave free space and follow the current figure shown by the store or console when downloading.
The demo has separate minimum capacity listings: 6 GB on PS5, 5 GB on Xbox Series X|S, 4 GB on Steam and 3 GB on Nintendo Switch, according to Konami’s demo page. These demo figures should not be substituted for the full-game requirements.

Is there a demo, and does progress carry over?
Yes. Konami says the demo covers the opening chapter and that its save can transfer to the full game. The transfer is conditional: you must continue on the same platform and use the same account. A save begun in the PS5 demo, for example, will not satisfy that condition if you buy and play the full game on Switch or Steam.
- Pick your intended full-game platform first. If keeping demo progress matters, start the demo on the platform where you plan to play the full release.
- Keep the demo save. Konami says the save must remain available for transfer; do not delete it before continuing in the full game.
- Use the same account. The account used for the demo must also be used for the full game.
- Update the full game. Konami says the full version must be updated to its latest version when transferring the save.
Some content or features may be restricted in the demo, so it is an introduction rather than a guarantee that every system or area in the full game is available there. The official transfer conditions do not describe cross-platform save transfer.
Who is Rose Belmont, and when is the story set?
The central character is Rose Belmont, identified by Konami as Trevor Belmont’s daughter. The story takes place in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. The official descriptions place the action around the city, its catacombs and Dracula’s castle, as monsters attack Paris and Rose grows into her role as a Belmont.

That gives the game a specific place in the series timeline and a new lead character; it does not make the story a retelling of Dracula’s Curse. The publisher’s current description is the basis for these character and setting details.
What kind of game is Belmont’s Curse?
Konami classifies it as a “2D Action-Exploration” game. The official descriptions emphasize exploring areas, finding secrets, fighting enemies and bosses, and using the Vampire Killer whip both in combat and for movement. The PlayStation Blog announcement, written by Konami Promotion Planner Moeko Nagaoka on February 12, 2026, says the whip is “more important than ever” and describes using it to move freely as well as attack.
Whip movement and combat
The whip is presented as more than a weapon: Konami’s description says Rose can use it to move around, while the PlayStation Blog announcement calls out mastering its mechanics for fast-paced combat. That combination suggests that movement and fighting are connected parts of play. The available official description does not specify a complete control scheme, list every traversal move or explain how the whip handles in practice, so those details should not be assumed from the announcement alone.

Weapons, secrets and bosses
The descriptions mention additional weapons and abilities, including a sword, as well as hidden items and secret chambers. Konami also points to breakable walls concealing health-restoring meat and to challenging areas. Nintendo’s store listing names Death, Medusa and Carmilla among the bosses, introduces Joan of Arc as a new boss, and mentions an Arcana System. Those details establish the presence of varied enemies and a named system, but the listing does not explain the Arcana System’s rules or how each weapon and ability is acquired.
Is it a roguelike?
The official genre label is 2D Action-Exploration, and the available descriptions focus on exploration, traversal, secrets and bosses. They do not label Belmont’s Curse a roguelike. That is the most accurate way to describe what has been announced: do not infer a roguelike structure from the developers’ other work, and do not treat the absence of that label as a detailed statement about every progression mechanic.
What is included in Standard and Midnight Editions?
The Standard Edition is the straightforward choice if you want the main game. Konami lists a physical and digital Midnight Edition with additional digital content. Its contents are described as follows:

Konami’s announcement also describes an exclusive SteelBook and Rose Belmont tarot card for the physical Midnight Edition through select EMEA retailers. Availability and stock depend on local retailers, so those items should not be assumed to come with every physical Midnight Edition or be available in every country.
Which edition and platform should I choose?
There is no published basis here for ranking the versions by image quality or actual performance. The practical choice depends on where you want to play, whether you want a physical copy, and whether the extras matter to you.
- Choose by platform first if you want to transfer demo progress. The demo and full game need to be on the same platform and account.
- Compare the publisher’s listed frame rates. Konami lists 30 fps for Switch and 60 fps generally for the other platforms, but these figures are not independent performance measurements.
- Choose Standard if you only want the main game. Midnight adds the Gallery and three in-game extras: the Trevor and Sypha costumes and Family’s Grace relic.
- Choose physical or digital based on your preference and region. Some retailer-specific physical bonuses are limited by location and stock; verify the exact listing rather than assuming they are universal.
- Check storage before buying or installing. The published requirements differ by platform and edition, and the Switch store’s download estimate differs from Konami’s stated Standard capacity.
For a price example, the US Xbox/Microsoft Store listing showed $29.99 for Standard and $39.99 for Midnight when checked on October 13, 2026. Those are volatile US digital storefront prices, not global prices or guaranteed final amounts. Check your own regional store for the current price and edition contents.
What age rating does it have?
Konami lists an ESRB Teen rating. Nintendo’s US listing specifies Blood, Mild Suggestive Themes and Violence. Rating details can be presented differently by region, so consult the rating shown for your local version if you need jurisdiction-specific guidance.
What is known—and not yet established—before launch?
The announced release date, platforms, premise, high-level gameplay features, edition contents and certain storage and frame-rate listings are available from Konami and the relevant storefronts.
