Your account’s paper-money limit is set individually and shown in the Cash App mobile app. Cash deposited at a participating retailer goes into your Cash App Balance, which your Cash App Card can use; it is not loaded onto the physical card itself.
How to find your paper-money limit
Cash App says paper-money limits depend on factors including account history, direct-deposit history, spending activity, and other risk-based considerations. The limit can be adjusted, so check the amount displayed in your app rather than relying on a limit quoted elsewhere.

Cash App’s U.S. terms do not publish a universal daily, weekly, or monthly paper-money maximum. Figures such as a standard $1,000 weekly or $4,000 monthly cap should not be treated as official account limits.
How paper-cash deposits work
At a participating retailer, an eligible customer can deposit paper money using either a barcode generated in the Cash App app or an active Cash App Card swipe. Retailers may require a minimum deposit of $5 or $20, depending on the method. Check the in-app instructions and the retailer’s requirements before starting the transaction.

- Double check if the URL/website is genuine before entering card details online. Do not provide any gift card details (example: claim code) to someone you do not know or trust. There are a variety of scams in which fraudsters try to trick others into paying with gift cards.

- Use your Mastercard Gift Card in the U.S. everywhere Mastercard debit cards are accepted, including online. Your Amazon.com Balance cannot be used to purchase Mastercard gift cards.
Cash App charges $1 per paper-money deposit. Its U.S. terms state that, effective June 29, 2026, this fee applies to all customers, including people who previously may have qualified for a waiver.
Which Cash App funding limit applies?
“How much can I load?” can refer to several different limits. Paper cash, direct deposits, and card purchases are separate activities, with separate rules. The figures below are published in Cash App’s U.S. terms and card agreement reviewed in 2026.

Don't use search engines or shortened versions of the website address, as these may lead you to fake or fraudulent sites. What to check before depositing cash

Confirm the limit currently displayed for your account in the app.

Check that the retailer is participating and whether it has a minimum deposit requirement for your chosen method.

Do not assume that a direct-deposit limit or card purchase limit tells you how much paper cash you can add.
