You can deposit physical cash into Cash App at a participating retailer using an in-app barcode or, where the store supports it, an active physical Cash App Card. The fee is $1 per deposit. Find a current location in Cash App before you go, since availability and eligibility vary.
How do I deposit cash into Cash App?
- Open the location finder: In Cash App, tap Money, then choose Deposit paper money.
- Find a participating store: Enter your ZIP code and select a location currently listed in the app. Do not assume every branch of a retailer supports deposits.
- Present your deposit method: Show the cashier the barcode generated in Cash App. If the selected retailer supports it, you can instead swipe your active physical Cash App Card.
- Hand over the cash and keep the receipt: Confirm the transaction with the cashier. Cash App says your balance is available after the store processes the deposit.
Where can you deposit paper money into Cash App?
Use the ZIP-code search under Money > Deposit paper money to see locations currently available to you. Cash App names Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS as examples of locations that may appear, but the app’s listing—not the chain name—is the reliable way to check a specific store. Cash App’s nationwide location-count claims differ across its pages, so a broad total is less useful than checking your ZIP code.

What does a Cash App cash deposit cost?
Cash App charges $1 per paper-money deposit, deducted from the deposited amount. Its U.S. Terms state that the fee applies to all customers; the Green customer fee waiver ended June 29, 2026. Check the fee shown for your transaction in the app before proceeding.

- Eligibility: The feature is available only to customers Cash App deems eligible. Sponsored teens can use it only if their sponsor is eligible; Sponsored Accounts for Children are not eligible.
- Account limits: Daily and periodic limits vary by account and may change. Cash App says limits depend on factors such as account history, direct-deposit history, and spending activity, and are shown in the app. There is no universal maximum to rely on.
- Store minimums: A retailer may require a minimum deposit of $5 or $20. The amount may vary depending on whether you use a barcode or card.
- Identification and card: A retailer may ask for proof of identity, your physical Cash App Card, or other documentation, depending on the store and transaction amount.
If you cannot use the paper-money option
If Deposit paper money is missing or you cannot complete a deposit, check your account eligibility and any displayed limits in Cash App, then search your ZIP code again for another participating location. The feature is not available to every account, and an individual retailer may not support your chosen method. If depositing physical cash is not an option, Cash App also lists linked bank or debit-card funding and direct deposit as alternatives; availability, timing, and any fee depend on the option and details shown in your account.

Before you leave the store
- Make sure the location appears in Cash App and supports the barcode or card method you plan to use.
- Bring identification or your physical Cash App Card in case the retailer requests it.
- Confirm the deposit amount and $1 fee with the cashier, and keep your receipt until the balance appears.
