If you are looking beyond Caramella, Product Hunt’s alternatives page offers two different kinds of help: five editorial picks (Wix, Weebly, Superblog, btw and Verst) and a longer directory of similar products. The picks are a short shortlist with brief descriptions. The directory is a list, not a test. Which option fits you depends mainly on whether you want to publish a blog or build a broader website.
One caveat comes first. Caramella’s official site loaded, but it offered too little readable information for us to confirm that the service is currently operating or what features it offers today. Its Product Hunt profile dates from 2018, and that date alone does not show that the product is active. Check Caramella directly before you rely on it.

What Caramella is, as Product Hunt describes it
Product Hunt lists Caramella as both a blogging platform and a website maker. Its own product description says it is “a modern, easy and stylish blogging platform (And website maker) that lets you share impressive posts easily! Just drag & drop few widgets into a template, fill it and post!” In other words, the workflow is built around placing widgets into a template, filling it in and publishing.
Product Hunt also shows a launch year of 2018, a #1 day rank, and a rating of 4.0 based on one review, with 36 followers, as seen on its 2026 page snapshot. These numbers describe the Product Hunt listing only. They say nothing about how many people use Caramella, how well it performs, or whether its feature set has changed since launch.
The maker’s launch comment states the intent behind the product: “Caramella was made to make authoring and blogging enjoyable, we welcome you to give it a try, post something cool and let us know what you think of it.” That is the maker’s own description, not an independent endorsement.
How to read the alternatives list
The alternatives page has two parts, and they carry different weight.
- Editorial picks: five products with one-line characterizations written on the page. These are the closest thing the page offers to a recommendation, but the characterizations are Product Hunt’s wording, not findings from hands-on testing.
- Broader directory: a longer list of similar products, including WebWave, Dorik, Carrd, btw, Umso, Pagy, Vzy, mmm.page, Pineapple Builder and BlogHunch. Each entry carries only brief tags or descriptions. The directory does not establish pricing, feature depth, reliability or performance.
btw appears in both parts. Treat it as a candidate that Product Hunt highlights, and then check its own site for current details.

The table below records how Product Hunt characterizes each pick. The last column notes the main job each description points to. Where the description does not say, the cell reads “not stated.”
Rank #3
- Book - 1, 000 books to read before you die: a life-changing list (1000 before you die)
- Language: english
- Binding: hardcover
| Product | Product Hunt characterization | Main job suggested by that description | Not established by the listing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wix | Flexible site builder with templates | Broader website | Current plans, feature limits and pricing |
| Weebly | Drag-and-drop builder with basic ecommerce | Broader website, including simple online sales | Depth of ecommerce tools and current pricing |
| Superblog | Lean blogging option | Blog publishing | Current feature set and pricing |
| btw | Minimalist and open-source | Not stated | Whether it is self-hosted, hosted, or both; current pricing |
| Verst | Polished option for professional sites | Professional or business website | Blogging features and current pricing |
The table shows that the picks cover two different jobs. Superblog is the only pick described primarily as a blogging tool. Wix, Weebly and Verst are described as website tools. btw is described by its style and licensing, not by the job it does, so you need its own site to know whether it suits a blog.
Other products in the directory
The remaining directory entries are WebWave, Dorik, Carrd, Umso, Pagy, Vzy, mmm.page, Pineapple Builder and BlogHunch. Carrd is named alongside Wix, btw and Superblog as an adjacent choice, but the listing gives no detail on what it does best. Treat the rest of the directory as a starting list of names to research, not a shortlist.

The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Is the main goal a blog or a site? If you mainly want dated posts, archives and a reading audience, start with blogging tools such as Superblog. If you need several pages, a home page, a contact form or a business presence, start with website builders such as Wix, Weebly or Verst.
- Do you need a single page or a full site? Directory entries such as Carrd and mmm.page are the kind of tool people usually consider for a single page. Check each vendor’s page count and layout options before deciding.
- Do you need online sales? Weebly is the only editorial pick that Product Hunt describes with ecommerce, and it is described as basic. If you need more than basic selling, verify the product’s store features directly.
- How much control do you want over the design and the hosting? btw is described as open-source. Open-source does not automatically mean you host it yourself, so confirm the hosting model on the vendor’s documentation before assuming it.
What to check before you commit
Product Hunt does not give enough detail for these points, so verify them on each vendor’s own site and record the date you checked.
- Current pricing, including whether a free tier exists and what it limits.
- Whether the editor is still available and whether the product is still accepting new sign-ups.
- How the product handles custom domains, page URLs and search metadata.
- Whether you can export your posts and images if you later move away.
- Whether the product offers the template or widget flexibility you need, using a real page or post you plan to publish.
- Who runs the product and how support is reached.
For Caramella specifically, these checks come first. Until the official site confirms current availability, do not treat it as a service you can sign up for today.
