It handles media up to 13 × 19 inches (A3+) and custom panoramas up to 13 × 39 inches, but it prints only: it does not scan or copy. It makes sense when large, carefully chosen photo prints matter more than an all-in-one’s versatility—and when you have room and budget for a substantial printer, ink, and paper.
What the PIXMA PRO-200S is—and what it is not
Canon describes the PRO-200S as an eight-color dye-based printer, using the CLI-65 cartridge family. Its eight individual inks include Black, Gray, and Light Gray. That makes it a specialist for photo and fine-art printing rather than a general office machine. Tom’s Guide’s hands-on review confirms it has no scanning or copying functions; its review describes quick output and high-quality color and monochrome prints in the reviewer’s use, while flagging Wi-Fi setup and ink yield as drawbacks. Those are the reviewer’s observations, not independent test results for this article.

Canon lists ChromaLife100+ for the model, but the available material does not establish a general archival-life claim for every print. Print longevity depends on the specific ink, paper, display, and storage conditions, so do not treat a printer-level label as a guarantee for every combination.
Print sizes, borderless output, and paper handling
Canon U.S. lists print formats ranging from small square and postcard sizes to Letter, Ledger, and 13 × 19-inch A3+. Borderless photo printing is specified from 3.5 × 5 inches through 13 × 19 inches. For long images, the U.S. support specifications list 210 × 594 mm panoramas and custom sizes up to 13 × 39 inches. These are U.S. specifications; Canon’s manual warns that supported media and page sizes vary by region, so check the local support page before buying paper or planning a job.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The printer has a top feed, a manual feed, and a multipurpose tray. Canon specifies up to 100 plain sheets in the top feed; photo and larger sheets have different loading limits depending on format and media. Consult Canon’s local specifications for the exact loading method and capacity for your intended paper.
Paper finishes and media
Canon’s listed media includes Pro Platinum, Plus Glossy II, Photo Paper Glossy, Plus Semi-Gloss, Pro Luster, Matte Photo Paper, Premium Matte, and Premium Fine Art Rough. Glossy and semi-gloss finishes suit a reflective, saturated look; matte and fine-art papers offer a less reflective surface and a different paper texture. Those are practical finish distinctions, not a claim that one paper type is universally better. Paper formats and availability vary by market.

What the eight-color dye system means for a buyer
The separate CLI-65 cartridges let the printer use a dedicated set of inks, including gray channels as well as black. This is relevant if you plan to make monochrome as well as color photographs, but the presence of Gray and Light Gray alone does not establish a particular grayscale accuracy or print-quality result. Canon lists a maximum resolution of 4800 × 2400 dpi; that specification is not a measure of how a finished print will look on every paper.

Ink use, ongoing cost, and physical space
Ink yield is difficult to reduce to one meaningful cost-per-print figure without a comparable test covering the same image mix, paper, print size, and settings. Tom’s Guide reported Canon’s estimate of 139 A3+ monochrome prints or 860 4 × 6-inch monochrome photos from the included tanks. These are two manufacturer estimates reported by the reviewer, not a typical mixed-color yield or a promise of how many prints a particular owner will get. The same review reported eight starter tanks at 12.6 ml each.

The review also gives dimensions of 25.2 × 15 × 7.9 inches and a weight of 32 lb, and notes that the printer takes substantial desk space. Treat those measurements as figures reported by Tom’s Guide, not measurements made for this article. The practical ownership calculation should include the printer’s footprint, the cost and local availability of replacement CLI-65 inks, and the paper you expect to use—not just the initial purchase price.

How the PRO-200S compares with the PRO-200
The “S” suffix does not mean the models are identical in every measured result. RTINGS describes the PRO-200S as nearly identical to the PRO-200 in features, but its comparison reports differences in color accuracy, fine-detail reproduction, and page yield: the S performs worse in color accuracy and fine detail, has better black page yield, and lower color page yield in RTINGS’ testing. Those are RTINGS’ comparative findings under its test conditions, not a universal prediction for every image, paper, or workflow.
When choosing between them, compare current local prices and cartridge availability, then weigh the measurements that matter most to your work. A photographer prioritizing color and fine detail may give RTINGS’ results more weight; someone focused on monochrome volume may care about the reported black-yield difference. The comparison does not establish a universal winner. See RTINGS’ PRO-200 versus PRO-200S comparison.
Is the PIXMA PRO-200S worth it for photo printing?
Choose it if you specifically want large-format prints up to 13 × 19 inches, value a choice of glossy, semi-gloss, matte, and fine-art media, and are prepared to manage a dedicated printer’s space and consumable needs. It is a weaker fit if you need scanning or copying, mostly print ordinary documents, lack room for a large-format machine, or cannot verify a reliable local supply of the inks and papers you plan to use.
Tom’s Guide’s hands-on assessment is a useful account of one reviewer’s experience, including the reported setup and yield drawbacks; it is not a substitute for checking your own region’s media compatibility and current operating costs. The review was published May 29, 2026: Tom’s Guide’s PIXMA PRO-200S review.
